until the drugs stopped and he got clean in 80s he then became bland and boring and had ran out of ideas to steal and sacked the greatest guitarist and band and clutched at straws the rest of his career

I was a fan of his before watching this, but this made me obsessed with him. the genius in song writing, the theatricality of the performance, stellar voice... David Bowie transformed into a muse of ancient Greek mythology in this song and just completely drew me in. he is one of my biggest inspirations, in my music and who I am as a person today.

To 3:03-3:28 where he’s cloaked in the dark with his face towards the crowd and back turned to us while the light flashes around his red silhouette. Amazing and just art.
I love 2:27, when Mick, plays guitar over Bowie's body. They were such a cool Duo together. Classic Spiders From Mars. Bowie, was so ahead of his Time, Lalalala Lala.

Porco dio, what an incredible show was that! From start to end. I must have watched it hundreds of times in the last thirty years, and every time it carries me to another world, and a beautiful one.
He creates the best atmosphere for Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From the Mars , the sounds, the red light, his way to act, to be Ziggy. Besides that, this is truly a masterpiece. There is a feeling that it creates that make you obsessed with it. It is unbelievable and beautiful. Just like David Bowie.
Hands down Ronno is one of the best. He adds a special element that can’t be replicated that really makes early Bowie’s music so memorable. Rest in peace my angels!! ❤️❤️
Bowie is just as good live as he is in the studio! Time is definitely my favourite song from Aladdin Sane, I love that sort of opera story telling feel you get through the drama he performs it with. It's hard to put into words, it's just one of those songs that sticks with you.
This version has always been about Trevor Bolder’s bass playing imho. He plays beautifully around the melody giving a depth the studio version lacked. It comes to the fore at 4:41.
I love it when musicians are expressive and playful with their delivery of lyrics the way Bowie was, it is so much more entertaining than a generic sounding performances that are replicas of their generic sounding studio versions. I think its important or else you end up sounding like most people. I like it when artists, for example purposely go a bit off pitch to convey emotion because I know they could sing on pitch perfectally if they wanted to but often its a stylistic choice .
Bowie's most affecting song. It's amazing. Loved it since I was 14. Love it still. That stately bass playing is superb. And Ronson, ofc. The sniper in the brain....
only bowie (especially in his ziggy period,my fav) can express this strange melancholic-pop-rock-savage-artistic-multi cultural-tribal attitude and music...a mix i can't describe but i will forever LIKE.

Mmm quaaludes not such a great drug. New York Doll Billy Murcia, and indirectly Paul Kossoff both succumbed to them. Sad days. A great performance by Bowie at Hammersmith though.
I was in the crowd at Salisbury City Hall two months before this performance. Although it's the standout memory from when I was 19 years old, it's proved impossible to remember it in all its detail. I'm grateful for this video, otherwise I may have forgotten what he was like 'live' completely. Sad.
Thank you Bowie, thanks for having been part of my life, and of my Youth, and part of my friends' and boyfriend's life and joy. "We should be home by now.............................". I will miss your Poetry. Arianna

Bowie was like a magnificent exotic bird and Mick was a sexy pirate. Wish I could've seen them perform together, such chemistry!
@DPC Mick Ronson not Jagger
@DPC that's totally irrelevant. It has no bearing on Ziggy and the Spiders.
Oh it is just ridiculous how great a performer he was. Best ever.

How many moments of utter perfection did Bowie create? Incredible.
At least 2. One was his entire life, a single moment stretched out into 69 years, and the other was that saxophone solo in Soul Love.
