Band Aid repair. The rust for one thing is coming from the inside out. Also there’s still rotted rocker panel past where cut. It’s just going to come back.
@@vxvicky once again: poverty. Limited resources. The only real fix would be to completely disassemble, acid bathe, phosphatizing bathe, fixing with tin soldering and tin filling, and reassembling. But the customer only has an old car that's gotten too ugly to go to work. It's just a cosmetic repair, by the appearance of it, that repair will outlast other critical parts. But I simpatize with your feeling, the perfeccionist in me have goosebumps seeing that rusted panel being left inside without at least some oil sprayed onto it or better yet, some rust converter being apllies.
@@RR-ds4sdwhen you mentioned oil spray, you hit the nail on the head. Personally I would use a mix of grease and oil together, sprayed generously on the inside of the rocker panel.
Everybody criticizing this guy, but he's doing the best he can with what he has. Take a look at how many views his video has gotten and you'll see he's making money off of all of your negativity.

However, what this guy did is probably fine on a heap that needs to look good for a few more years, issue is when it is sold off to someone as a great repair. I mean even on a heap it just isn't much more effort to do it right and not overlap an old rusted panel. Great restorations are about what you do t see right in front of you and more about what is behind it all.

What is there to enjoy 😆 this car was neither looked after nor it's good to look with all the nasty rust on it. A month later, you would have to do the same "repair" to it. Not fixing the inner rust on the sill ? ( it’s a unibody car the structural strength relies on that for christs sake !). Leaving rusty hole areas metal to the left of the patch ? No guard on the angle grinder ? This is Rubbish repair !
Expandable foam is not a repair, it actually promotes rust and is a fire hazard, I think the main point here is you have to fix the inner structure which is critical to the strength of the car
@@danasmith858 I have also used fiberglass filler over the foam and also put liquid steel epoxy. You can spay it with rust reformer then paint over it. Of course there's a right way to due things but if you're not skilled it can be VERY EXPENSIVE!
😀👍 this is two mechanic Jack I'm not a auto body expert but when you took the old metal out and put the new one on you had your spray gun there you should have sprayed some rust proof primer inside then I would have put the new piece of metal on then you'd be all set. In a couple more years you could get rust starting on the inside and going to the floor and that's a real big problem that it starts thank you but it was a nice video I liked it the way you did it thank you.

This is a perfect cheap job especially for a vehicle you're going to take to the auto auction, it only has to look good for a little while🤷♂️. If you want to go for the really cheap job you just spray foam in the holes grind it off and throw some bondo on there, smooth it out and paint it and you're ready to go!!!
What a shame you never see a comment from this man about how he prevents the rust returning amazing panel work from sheet steel but does he address the rust that I've seen on the inside of many of the vehicles in his videos?♥️
My father had a 1971 Ford Pinto, long before we knew what a death trap that was, gas tank and all. Rust ate through much of the rear panels surrounding the rear wheels. He just kept filling up all the rust holes with basically the stuff, like Bondo, so it would pass inspection. He finally sold it in 1980ish to someone who, presumably, used it for parts.
I wonder how many of the critics in the other comments can weld.... Been there. You can't realistically do much better than that on an old snotter. Nice job.
They're actually damn talented, if they used their expertise to fix the inner rust they would have done a solid job.

My guess is that the repair is curtailed by cost, as they clearly have the skill to do a full repair.

My brother had a Fiat in the 1970's with a Hotpoint badge under the carpet in the passenger footwell.
