This is exactly what I hate about Toyota dealers. Sell you a car then charge you extra for mats, and other features that should be included in the price. Just plain rip off.

We LOVE our 09 and would not trade it in for all money in the world. With that said we are keeping it until we pass. Whatever it needs we are on top of it and maintenance is up to date. This car is so comfortable it's unreal it has all the power we need and handling is great. I can't say enough about it. It always up to date with the newer models and we get asked so many times about it and compliments. We love the older Venzas from 09-16 don't hesitate to get one of these you will be happy with it.

My dad loved his 2009 Venza so much that he just bought a 2024 since they’re being discontinued (again). He and my stepmom most generously gave us the 2009 to keep it in the family. We are in heaven - that vehicle is pristine and the nicest car I’ve ever owned even at 15 years old. It drives like a dream.

    • @cathy-k
      @cathy-k 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@ibrplayz892 Assuming it's been properly maintained, I'd say heck yeah. I've been driving a 2007 Honda Civic since it was new and the Venza is such a step up from anything I've ever owned. I doubt the Venza is going to get the good gas mileage that the Honda or a smaller car will get (I'm just on the second tank of gas and haven't recorded the miles to check the MPG). Also, with all the features on this Venza, there's definitely more pricey things that could break compared to my Honda. It's got power-everything.
So those are a couple things to consider. I can definitely recommend an old Honda Civic as a started car. My 2007 has been a wonderful car and we're keeping it. Good luck on your search!

    A "Crossover Wagon"!
    - I own one and I love it. Yes, the steering is a bit numb, fit and finish may be a little off, but the seats are comfortable as h**l, there is tons of room for stuff in the back, the back seats make this car a true 3-4 person road trip champ and, for those who complain that it's not fun to drive, you need to drive with me . . . the tires and AWD together make this monster surprisingly fun on the twisty, windy roads!

Great side-by-side comparison. Especially in this shot 4:40 you can really tell how much higher the load floor is on the 2021. That's what really makes the cargo area less usable than the 2009. Thanks for the video.

I own a 2009 Venza 4 cyl magnetic gray metallic...I love love love my "mommy wagon!" Yes it is a wagon, not really an SUV. The 4 cly is much better on gas than the V6 AWD. The head, leg room and cargo space are the proof. I have so much room in it. We've gone car camping in it and had lots of room. It's so versatile with the ample backseat space. Also a well kept secret is that the back seats slightly recline! I've owned higher end cars (a Cadillac car and SUV) and I will not trade my Venza for anything else. I plan to drive it to 1 million miles!

  • @thesultan4030
    @thesultan4030 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

I was waiting for this comparison! I drive a 2009 V6 AWD with every option available ( there were no trim levels for '09 as I'm sure you know) . Bought it last year, 110,000 kms for $8300 on the road. I also drive a 2013 4 cyl FWD for work. They are both great cars and the comfort level is amazing (especially considering I drive for 10 hours a day), but the 2009 V6 is so much nicer than the 2013. I'd say you will sell that one pretty quickly, they are still sought after . I'm a cab driver and it's amazing how many people ask what kind of car it is and comment on how roomy and comfortable it is, and most tip really well for that comfort! Venza makes me dolla bills HOLLA!

I have a 2010 Venza V6. I love my car. It's dependable and so comfy. I was excited when I heard Venza was making a come back. Sadly, only the 4 Cylinder is available. I love the V6 in mine. Powerful, never a problem getting on the highway. Only want to trade my Venza because it's starting to need alot of work, just hit 150,000. And it seems to go through shocks and tires fast. The 20 inch rims probably don't help the shocks and certainly doesn't help how expensive 20 inch tires are. Cost me $1000 for tires.

Quiet, smooth and 1” higher clearance. Another reason for me to love my Venza even more 😂 I will dread the day I have to get another Toyota. I bought a 2013 Limited because of how low it sets and all the cargo space. We have a small compact electric wheel chair, called EZ Lite Cruiser, that weights approx. 55 lbs. I don't have to fold it up to load. I put the seat down in back on passenger side and pick up the wheel chair and roll it right in. The 2021 looks like it sets higher like a regular SUV. 2009 was quieter but rode worse. New one rides better lots of noise especially from the engine. Wind and road noise is decently hushed according to the gold standard consumer reports. But on the plus side it will be super reliable.

Funny enough I caught an Uber today in the new venza. I was actually surprised how much more cramped and tighter (compared to the old model) it is in the passenger side area and the roof shorter I felt I could almost touch it been a tall person if I really tried. The two sunroofs were nice and cinematic while driving. The electronic digital rear view mirror is a nice touch I must say and hybrid is probably for the best given how the mpg was on the originals. Not bad but not great. Shame there's no V6 option this time around though. I'm not sure how I feel about the big screen in the center. But it definitely felt safe and secure with all the features, and cameras all over.
In the case of the two venzas pretty much American vs Japanese philosophy and ideas at display. But interesting non the less!

I like the earlier style of Venza due to being lower and wider, more spacious too. Easier to get in and out. But the new ones has the new technologies. Toyota should have kept similar body style of the old model. I got lots of good comments on my 2010 model.

The 2009 model is more appealing than the 2021 model. The '09 is the definition of crossover, but the '21 looks more like an SUV, it sits too high and it's lean and not as muscular as it's predecessor.

We just took delivery of our 2021 XLE in Blueprint this evening.
And to be honest, I’m not that impressed. It’s so much smaller than our 2009 Venza (which we kept and LOVE with less than 150k).
We bought the 2021 sight and unseen. Maybe it’s been a long day- it has- and maybe the build up of having to wait two weeks for the color I wanted to come in killed my enthusiasm. But if you loved the old Venza, this is a completely different car…
I’m hoping to get a good night’s rest and come back with an update.

      Update: We kept it.
We took delivery with 8 miles and now have almost 5k miles!
Still my first impression was correct - It’s a completely different vehicle. The old model has so much room, storage, and POWER (thanks to that V6 engine!).
But my husband - despite our family of four feeling like stuffed mushrooms in the hybrid - wanted to keep it and loves driving it. (Though he still mostly drives the 09 Venza with 155k miles on it).
What he loves - the technology and the perception of luxury! He told me he likes driving the older car because it keeps him humble - the hybrid is just too “luxurious” for him. (Maybe he means feminine or girly?).
What I love - the color, Blueprint, is such a beautiful color with splashes of purple and gold flecks in the sunlight. Just really beautiful to look at and walk up to!
With that said- I’m not sure what niche this version of the Venza fills in the Toyota lineup. The old venza was clearly the station wagon of SUV’s. There’s already the RAV4 and Highlander hybrid SUVs, so where’s the hybrid Venza fit in??
So my final impression is that the 2021 Hybrid Venza is a luxurious and amenity filled option for average height people with no kids or gear to tote around, who drive on smooth paved roads who like the perception of luxury without the associated cost and maintenance.
If you’re a Toyota loyalist, or if you’ve never experienced the old Venza, you’ll be thrilled! But if you LOVED the old Venza or are open to other brands/models, you might find yourself a bit disappointed.
      My experience if you’re interested…
      PROS:
The car is sturdy and drives well.
Gas is okay I suppose - I don’t know how many miles I get per gallon or tank. I work from home and don’t really drive beyond a 10mile radius with the kids so I only need to fill up once a month with premium gas. Road-trips have been in the old Venza.
We upgraded the seats so we have heated and cooled seats. My favorite feature is that the cool air hits nicely on the back of the neck on hot days and dries the front seats on rainy days.
I love the heated steering wheel and we all use Apple CarPlay seamlessly! The hybrid is also connected and has Wi-Fi. All features our old Venza does not have.
The hybrid has some power, but I wouldn’t jump into oncoming traffic with it like I do the 09 Venza.
BIGGEST CON: the interior space is SMALL, tight, cramped.
No leg room in the rear seats for the tall-ish. I’m 5’8”. My husband is 5’11”. Our kids are tall. At after school pick ups, the floor and backseats become a jumbled mess with kids climbing and falling over stuff when getting in and out of the car. I bought seat hooks to help with that, but with the front seats adjusted for my height, their backpacks hang from the hooks into their laps with their knees nearly touching the back of the front seat. So it’s tight.
The trunk area is not much better. Because of the angle of the hatch it frequently doesn’t close when filled with gear or groceries.
NO STORAGE! I’ve found some nifty storage solutions on Amazon that make me happy, but there aren’t as many built in pockets like in the older Venza. The center console is a bit of a joke without the after market storage solutions.
Finally, I inadvertently experienced the hybrid on 3 miles of unpaved backroad and it was a scary bumpy ride. I know it’s not off road rated, but the whole ride I wished I had the 09 Venza, which sits lower to the ground and has larger tires.

It's just a fancy Rav4. You can't tow with the new Venza. The older Venza is more versatile.

I have no intention of trading in my 2010. I'm a musician and need space to carry gear. I don't like the fact that they reduced the cargo capacity and the 2021 is only available as a 4 cylinder lawn mower whinny model. They really screwed this model up. I'm in New York. There are not a lot on the road here. I noted a lot of them in Canada when I traveled there over this last decade. If it works, don't fix it. They did not fix it for the better, IMHO!
