Seriously I fucking love the deadpan humour here, the way you coolly say "inception explores the labyrinthian world of the human mind, so naturally it is very simplistic and easy to unpack", you play the character brilliantly.

His kids are clearly older in the final scene. The kids in the dream always appear to be around 2-4 years old respectively, but in the final scene the girl looks around 7-8 and the boy looks to be around 3-4 years old. There's also the fact that they cast an older pair of child actors for the final scene so.

Pretty sure that isn't true. What I remember is that she believed that their world was a dream, so she wanted to "wake them up" by killing herself, much like what they did in Limbo. However, Cobb kept shade of her, a memory of her in Limbo to remember. Hence why he calls her just a shade. She got out of Limbo, she didn't want to back in Limbo, but rather her idea of a reality more "real"
When he says you never really remember the beginning of a dream really, you always just remember where your going. Doesn't this remind you of being born - you can't remember being born you just know......hey I'm here. Folks you are in a dream lol don't let science fool you into saying oh your frontal cortex lobe has not formed etc blah blah. Lol wake up!

Yeah I think pretty much all he said was that there are parallels between dreams and cinema and we never really know if we are awake or not, like how they do in the film..

Is it just me who sometimes wakes up without remembering a thing from my dream, and yet feels so helpless and awful from being back in this reality?? Makes me wonder if the dream was really good I wanted to stay or the dream I am waking up into is so bad that I don't wanna stay...
You're not alone man, that stuff happens regularly to me sometimes, I'll be having such a nice & vivid dream, just to quickly wake up laying on my back in my bed, then the heavy,sinking feeling on my chest quickly follows as reality sets in that it was all a dream,

Okay, I always questioned my reality, whether if this life is a dream or not and what he said about wiping that weird gunk on the corner of my eye at 4:07 didn't help at all, since that's exactly what I was doing just a second before he said that. I would have been fully convinced that this is the real world if I did that exact thing he said AFTER he said it.
Someone give me a kick or something, cause I don't believe a totem works since if I'm convinced with how physics works, then every totem I would have tried to create would just go on with the law of physics even if it's on a dream.

I was under the impression Mal killed herself because Cobb planted the spin top in her mind to give her the idea that she was still dreaming. Hence, she killed herself because she thought the real world was still a dream, not because she wanted to frame Cobb.
I think that makes more sense. The inception that Cobb did was so powerful even after waking up it still had it's root planted in Mal. I also think the hotel scene was just Mal framing Cobb to say hey, there is no life here left for you, I will jump and if you don't you will have no life here, just jump with me... It was merely the extent that Cobb went to get Mal out of dream, that Mal went to get Cobb out of reality...
@@ilia7083 That's just it, I think it was the opposite. She didn't want to go back to the dream/limbo, she actually wanted to go back to reality - the whole point of incepting is that you place an idea in someone's mind so that they think they came up with it themselves once awake in the real world. The eternally spinning top, inside the safe of her mind makes her believe she is still dreaming. The framing scene was about forcing Cobb to jump, to go back to reality with her. I don't see how the framing has anything to do with going back to limbo, as mentioned in the video.

You should have done some more research, the ring was his real charm, everytime he was wearing the ring on his hand meant he was in a dream. At the end he wasn't wearing the ring, meaning that it was reality.
Not necessarily. Did you ever take into consideration that maybe his ring was a symbol of his inability to let go of his wife? The ring is his totem. And throughout the movie, when we see him wear it, he is always in a dream. However, at the end, this is after he has let his wife go. So maybe he is still in a dream, just not wearing the ring because he finally let go.

If what you're saying is true, Klown, he would've been wearing the ring on the plane then removed it when he exited after the inception mission. Instead, in times when he isn't dreaming, the ring isn't on his finger. This is observable throughout the film.
+The Klown, I thought that his wife's totem was the top and they never explicitly tell you that the top is his totem. So I agree, the ring is his totem.
+The Klown No because he only checks his ring when he wants to check where he is. They made a character with a repeatable behavior they wouldn't do something as odd as that.

I LOVED all the little sound effects in this one, like the squishing sounds when Mal and Cobb are lying on the train tracks round 1:55, and when she tosses herself out the window. Obviously those scenes in-movie are full of gravitas, but here with those absurd sound effects I can't help but cackle.

it is. What I think the deep meaning may be, who remembers being born? or the day you came into this world? Do you remember how you got here? row row your boat, life is but a dream.

Inception's plot is actually straight-forward and doesn't "lie" about when they are dreaming vs. the real world.
What's brilliant about it is that, it incepts the idea that he isn't in reality at the end (even though he is), by planting the seed
of the idea with the spinning top, JUST AS COBB DID WITH HIS WIFE. The audience ends up with the same affliction as she does-questioning
the reality of the film, and coming up with elaborate and convoluted theories to support the idea that he's still in a dream.
But there is no logical reason to believe he's still dreaming;
the spinning top is the only reason we start doubting
(if he hasn't spun the top and just went straight outside to see his kids, we wouldn't wonder if it's still a dream).
Just like Cobb's wife had no logical reasons to doubt reality, only the nagging idea left behind from the spinning top in their dream.
Also the totem at the end was wobbling alot more, it was just about to fall down.
This is the best thing about Inception; Nolan pulled off an inception on the audience, just as Cobb pulled it off on his wife.
Most over rated film ever.

I had a dream once that I remembered from the beginning. The only reason I thought it notable was because Inception made a big deal about dreams never having a beginning.

Anik Mirza Sure if you want to know what happened in the end and if he is still dreaming, I can tell you. In the end all audience leave the cinema perplexed, however they conclude that it's such a good movie because it leaves space for them audience to have their own version of the final ending. In short, there is no 'actual' ending since its ultimate purpose has been achieved, which is to intrigue the audience, getting them to wonder. Therefore your questions are in fact the exact result the movie is expecting to create. There is no 'answer' because it's meant that way.

Mal was across the street so Cobb could do nothing to stop her and would have to follow her. It also adds into the feeling of helplessness and separation in dreams and in real life

So if the woman that Leonardo used to marry is an actor, that means that this movie is much deeper than we expected.
