My favorite interpretation is how The Shining is a metaphor for Alchoholism and how it hurts a family and ultimately destroys it
It's not an aa meeting plus there are thousands of functioning alcoholics it's not the gun or even the bullets it's the perpetrator. Yes you got it right that fault is entirely on you.
Rocky Desert Flower that was story of book
@@seanboland2162 yeah but the gun certainly does help in the murder, doesn't it?
J W the axe
Facts
I never realized how he said "I'd sell my soul for a beer" and then that bit later yelling at Wendy about his contract. awesome catch
Edit: typo
and the bartender wearing red
Kubrick is, in my opinion, the best director of all time. His movies are laced with layers and layers of hidden meaning. No wonder he always took forever to make a new movie, he put his time and effort into each scene. It's truly incredible, a major contrast from 90% of movies that are released these days.
Does anyone know of any other directors who use Occult messaging/symbolism?
Stanny Cubes best directioner.
Ehm no??
My favorite is North West.
He seems to be really good at telling people what to say, when to say it and where they should be standing. And then he tells the camera people how to record it.
Amazing video. Always great to work with you guys. The Shining is one of my favorite horror movies. Now I can sound extra smart when I talk about it.
Dark5 tnx for recomending me this chanel , its great !
Dark5 Likewise! We'd say you're not too shabby in the 'knowing what you're talking about' department.
Hold the fucking phone. Did I really just stumple upon Dark5 in a random comment section? I love you guys! I've been a subscriber for five years - one of my first top list channels :>
There was no onscreen link when I watched it?! I tried to click... I'm just 3 years too late, I guess.
When eyebrow guy was like"Jack begs her for a constructive criticism but she pushes him for a page one rewrite."- i lost my shit cause I actually thought this was gonna be a serious video.
You took his eyebrows serious
never serious, but always truthful
lmao
Shriya Joshi idk bout u but I can't take anyone with eyebrows like that serious. Does that make me raycess?
I lost my shit once but then my mum found it and i denied it
"but Danny escapes by doing the moonwalk" lmfaooo 💀💀
lmao
Kristen Naidu i literally died ftom laugh
ha ha LOL
😅
This is my first time watching an Earthling Cinema video. I think that I've just found my new addiction :D
***** I'll retweet that
Sam C You should check out their Dark Knight episode.
same
Same here it's good
Agree
The Hotel cant really be the devil because Jack was crazy from the very beginning.. Even in the car drive to the hotel. You can see him sitting slightly towards the edge of the table instead of in the middle when he is writing, which could be seen as symbolism for him being kinda "off". This is not the hotels fault tho, he could have sat in the middle if he wanted to. What im trying to say is that the hotel allows Jack to become crazy, but doesnt force him to. In the end it was inside of Jack all along.
Jack was crazy even before becoming that character.
Crazy Jack was drawn to the Devil hotel. It's far from just a hotel.
That was my main beef with the movie. Book Jack was a basically decent man who loved his wife and son and struggled against the Overlook until it took him over. Movie Jack is obviously crazy in the first scene, so there's no character development.
Except for the thing outside jack that opened the door to the pantry after Wendy had locked him inside of it.
@@maggiesmith856 it's not the book at all. It's a Stanley Kubrick film.
I've read the book 3 or 4 times. My favorite King novel- but. The movie is also one of my favorite horror movies.
You didn't discuss the impossible Architecture of the hotel!
If you follow the perspective shots during the film and what the characters say about the hotel layout, you discover hallways, doors, and windows which are either too long, too short or should not be there, because it is physically impossible in 3 dimensional space.
Do you feel smart?
The outside shot of the Hotel is not the same location in which they filmed inside, except for small room scenes and the entrance/exit scenes. I don't believe this has any sort of significance other than they needed a different location to film the hallways and the ballroom/foyers/lounge room.
And where's the maze? They show the hotel in the begining- but there is no maze.
Could you do The Shining next?
this IS the shining
+Marrick Denille No, he means The Shining with Jack Nicholsons.
+Seth Tanaka This IS the shining with jack nicolson
+Link123456789 Tiptip no it's not. this is the one with Shelly Duvall..
Um.. Ok then
Dark5 sent me here. And now you're sending me to dark5 again. I'm stuck in a cycle now
Subscribe! :)
Wisecrack I was already. Calm your eyebrows ;)
That's a successful collab for ya.
Like clockwork .
Wait , didn't Stanley Kubrick direct clockwork orange and the shining ?
OMG!
Most male earthlings usually have an appendage as their best friend but not their finger ohh ohhh om dyin
Lol
Do a clockwork orange
Googl Meshy Great mental image... lol
They did the book already.
but they didnt do the movie
Fear not, my fellow not earthling. It is in the works, said Work of an Orange Clock.
Cuz I'm SINGING IN THE RAIN
"but Danny escapes by doing the moonwalk"
"jack apparently has forgotten his own name" LMFAO
One of your best so far Mr Wormula! Bravo!
I literally just watch this film an hour ago and I NEED ANSWERS!
+Kenneth... In a nutshell- John "Jack" Torrance, the fictitious writer in "The Shining" is an allegoric representation of Steven King, while on a working-vacation, and going through the processes of: 1) Coming up with an idea for a novel. 2) Rejecting ideas. 3) Writer's block. 4) Being interrupted driving him crazy. 5) Having a "eureka" moment. 6) Writing about the horror of writer's block for a writer in the story of The Shining, (a story within a story) and taking the "reader" on the rollercoaster ride with him, as seen through King's eyes, but as the reader. Kubrick did the same thing, (a movie inside a movie) but places the viewer of the movie of the real "writer Jack" as the fake movie "killer Jack" into the film itself, but with different methods. Why? Because King's story, (spirits that need steam, hence the boiler) is a paper story, not a celluloid one. In the movie at its climactic end, "killer Jack's" soul, (along with all the other souls in The Overlook) are condemned to this "hell" and to keep reliving their hell, and the reason why we see Jack is in the July 4th, 1921 picture in the end; while in the (so called) real-life anti-climactic, but unseen movie end... the "writer Jack" (Steven King) went home and lived happily ever after. (OR DID HE???!!! DUN DUNT DUN!!!) The story "Misery" is a similar attempt by King to catch the "lightening in a bottle" of The Shining... at least he ripped-off (mostly) himself. (It was a little pay-back to Kubrick too.) So, the movie we saw, (The Shining) is actually the story Jack wrote.
Mark Lewis woah 😵😵😵😵😵
Watch as many times as you like, you will always find something new each time.
@@MarkLewis... makes sense because afterall he was a writer and what could be a better story than a hotel set on an indian burial ground, could spark up a lot of ideas and imagination isn’t it ?
@@shaheersk721 I've been trying to explain this to people (no joke) since the late 80's! And there are so many clues in the movie if you ignore all the red herrings. The impossible office window, Danny's impossible big-wheel ride, unplugged TV working, Jack at the maze, etc... We the audience are in Jack (the writer's) mind for most of the movie, seeing his script/novel unfold! That and how 2001 is a juxtaposition of Genesis and Evolution. Adam and Eve apes, Cain killing Abel after the apes touching the monolith. The first monolith is the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the second monolith is the tree of everlasting life. I did a YT video (no body watched, lol) that explains it all.
th-cam.com/video/OAgPcf-n8cg/w-d-xo.html
What disturbs me is that he did so many iconic films, even with The Shining but haven't done Silent of the Lambs? Where are you Garyx? We need answer!
Fantastic analysis! The only thing I thought was missing was the fact that much of the hotel is literally impossible. Kubrick did a lot with panning shots from one room to the next that in reality weren't together (window placement, walls, corners, etc.) I remember seeing a great explanation of it somewhere on TH-cam, perhaps EveryFrameAPainting.
Hilarious. LOVE THIS CHANNEL. Wormuloid you absolute LEGEND.
Please keep these coming,
Best regards,
TGV
The Urban Gentry Speaking of Legend, do the eighties Tom Cruise, Tim Curry movie of the same name!
Good review by the way. Actually the best I've seen so far. But I do have some key questions...1) Is the blood gushing from all over the hall allergy-free so the kids will be alright? 2) Is that recycled water? 3) Does the hotel have an appropriate water waste treatment? 4) Is Jack going to fix and replace the door, the radio wiring and the other damages? 5) Were the costumes pet-friendly costumes made of synthetic fiber or an evil asshole has used real animal fur? 6) Was the ice-cream gluten free? 7) Will Jack burial expenses going to be paid by the Overlook Hotel management or his family will have to file for it with the Crazy and Creepy Hotel Janitors' Association?
"Gets himself strangled like an idiot.."
😂
"Perhaps some questions are better left unanswered...?"
Genius :D
"Flamenco Jesus" - Garyx Wormuloid
Literally the best thing ever.
Can you please do 'Spirited Away'?
Studio ghibli admitted it was about child slavery/prostitution. ;-; Just a "fun fact".
Savannah Hocter If that's true, then I'm sure it'd come up should they do a video on it.
Savannah Hocter that sound stupid but interesting
Rainfawkes It isnt when you consider the fact that Miyazaki is a feminist (No not in the Tumblr Sense of feminism, REAL feminism).
And also Japan had a history of brothels and abusive hierarchy. Its not too crazy to figure out that the time period that Spirited away is set in also relates to the story.
its actually a clever movie, you just wouldn't know it unless you looked for it.
"THE SHINING FOR FUCK'S SAKE". Lol
Please do: Fear and loathing in las vegas
The scene with the bear guy was one of the creepyest scenes in the entire movie. I was so terribly shocked.
Can you do The Room?!!? Please!!!
Ok Mark
You can't find this mooovieeee with beeetter qualityyy thaaaan heree => twitter.com/d89e03b6cefd4ffba/status/822767885231669248

I did not hit her, I did not...oh hi mark.
Deebo Molina oh hi doggie
Jeez, what is it with you collaborating with other channels I'm subscribed to? First Game Theory, now Dark5?
Is this truly the best reality of the multiverse I live in?
***** Sounds to me like you didn't read the ending to my comment...
SeanStrife He was on the Fine Bros as well. Of course, it was a little hard for me to figure that one out (no eyebrows). I had to check based on the voice alone.
The Creator You know, dude deserves it. He's got an awesome channel and I hope it gets more attention. We need more intelligent humor on TH-cam.
SeanStrife Its probably a strategy of those media marketing management companies. They create tie-ins with other channels for their talents.
+SeanStrife It is TRUE
2:28 also most horror films are shot with a tight FOV so you can’t really see what is going on. In the shining, the FOV is absolutely enormous to give that sense of isolation and being overpowered by the Hotel.
I walked away from this learning very little and being more confused than anything.
This. All the youtuber did was summarize the plot and bringing questions without answering them. No 'Hidden meaning' to be found here, just another misleading title.
kaptain roll ,it's comedy, not an actual hidden meaning thing.
Greysmdl Well to be fair I'm pretty sure all discussions on The Shining end that way right? Every time I see or read about that movie I end up more confused lol Theres as many theories and ideas as words in that film...
does anyone else get anxiety just from watching this
a bit.
Player One don't know fam
lauren rossi yeah very freaky this movie
You're dumb if you do.
i used to put movies on after work and fall asleep and I this happened w shining but I woke up b4 it finished and I was out of my mind scared
One of the best ones yet. You're such a great writer
This show's writing. So good.
Please do 2001: A space odessy
One of our first. Check it out here: m.th-cam.com/video/Bz6xD3xQiT8/w-d-xo.html

RagingDomo Your comment was dumb.
DiscCovered cool cool

Blade Runner eagerly awaits your extraterrestrial analysis.
Huge fan of Blade Runner and its multiple interpretations
Ive been going back and forth between this and the dark5 video for hours. I cant escape
now do eyes wide shut earthling cinema!
I haven't seen many of the EC episodes, but this one just made me a fan. :)
"Jack used to have a different haircut."
I knew it! 😏
Love this channel. So funny.
I binge watched all of these and this is literally the best channel. I would pay to watch this.
Excuse me. I have presently just subscribed to this channel. In that regard, I have a question. The question is as follows: What is the monthly subscription price? I thank you in advance. Sincerely.......... The Consumer
+Francis Tokarski We accept payment in the forms of adoration and an over sized cookie. :)
+Wisecrack You did not thumbs-up my content, so I can only take it that the tone of your reply was one of derision. I do not know why I so upset you, but could we please just turn over a new leaf, especially since we've only just now turned our first?
+ewarne1 And what about me?
+Francis Tokarski Who are you?
its free
Seven words: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly!!!
Jeffrey Anderson YES!
I know, right? They haven't done one western yet, I believe. And Sergio Leone's Man with no name trilogy is the most awesome ones EVER!!
I couldn't agree more. A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly are flawless pictures in their own way. A Fistful of Dollars - a complete reinvention of the genre. For a Few Dollars More - an excellent exercise of style and brilliant play of Western cliches. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - the greatest Western (and adventure story) ever put to film and quite possibly has the most electrifying climax ever. Honestly I have a dvd traveling case (that can only hold 24 films) I take everywhere I go and those films are in it. They're that great! I hope they do take your request in serious consideration.
They turned Clint Eastwood into a world wide icon. And let's not forget Enrico Morriconi's soundtracks! How many movies, tv shows, and commercials use themto this day?
But.... let's give a shout out to Akira Kirasou's influence on the western. And I apologize for any misspellings
You've got the shinning!
You mean Shining
SHHH! You wanna get sued?
Easily the best show on Wisecrack!
Indian burial ground... That is just the standard Stephen King "I'm to buzzed on Coke right now, and need an easy plot device" explanation
Wisecrack, you are an inspiration. I learn so much from the incredibly detailed and well executed videos you release weekly. They're also so much fun!
My favorite movie is Requiem For A Dream and would wet myself with excitement if I saw an Earthling Cinema breakdown of it.
REQUIEM FOR A DREAM!
You beautiful geniuses.
Would love to hear your insights on the pinnacle of Earthling cinema that is "The Room" by the visionary Tommy Wiseau, Mr. Wormuloid.
This is my absolute favorite movie ever. I’ve watched it countless times. I actually had my fight kiss while watching this movie. It’s always been such a big movie in my life and it’ll always bring back great memories.
Do Jacob's Ladder.
Oh hell yeah!
Narukami Yu Please do it!!!!
Narukami Yu That's easy, the guy is already dead right? And it's angels trying to save him that he thinks are devils. Or something. Yeah I'm confused. Do that one.
Narukami Yu Yeah, I love that movie. Jacob's Ladder, please!!!
Please do Yojimbo. It would make for a great video, not only on how early westerns influenced it, but also how it influenced spaghetti westerns later on. Also if you're reading this and your wandering what Yojimbo is, do yourself a favour and watch it. its under 2 hours, and if your a fan of the man with no name trilogy (fistful of dollars in particular) you will be blown away by it. Yojimbo is a movie worth your time.
"winter is coming and he needs somwhere to write that isn't a goddamn starbucks!" it's like they're actually aliens from the future
Do Cast Away! His opinions on a human fighting for survival would be gold...plus Wilson!
Please do AKIRA
+Félix Tétreault That's all it takes, apparently! Well done!
This is kinda awkward for me, I realize this comment is old , but, my name is Akira
this series is the light of my life
Ah, yes, this was based off of the scribings of King Stephen, who was the undisputed ruler of Maine. He was so displeased with this movie that he had Stan Lee Kubrick executed.
I swear, all of my favorite channels are following each other and its great.
Do Boyz n the Hood
Every time I watch different TH-camr's movie Analysis on the shining, Its a COMPLETELY different perspective on the film! It deeply increases my appreciation! Arguably the greatest Horror film of all time.
Do Watchmen pleeeeeeeas
Check out our Thug Notes episode on The Watchmen
Wisecrack Do the movie The Birdcage (1996) Maybe do it as an homage to Robin Williams.
Wisecrack So how do you decide whether Thug Notes or Earthling Cinema does an episode on something when there's a book and a movie version of it?
Loved the reference to 'The Devil Went Down to Georgia'. Excellent work on this one!
At 5.11 you are mistaken. The devil doesnt reside in Georgia... . He went down to Georgia cause he was lookin for a soul to steal. He was in a bind cause he was way behind... and willing to make a deal. There now... you stand corrected.
paradisemace1 oh god, I didn't read this, I sang it! lol
CDB : -- }
I'm liking these vids
Subscribed.
Great stuff! I'm going to watch all of these on the movies I've never bothered to watch!
Seriously why does he say "Here's johnny?" Isn't he called Jack in the movie?
It's a reference to the Johnny Carson show
jack and john are used interchangeably. especially back in the day. jack Kennedy and john Kennedy are the same dude.
I know. It's part of why his wife was freaking out. Like, "Nooooooo, that's not even your name! Is that your real name and you only tell me this after we got married and raised a child?! And do it by barging into the bathroom?! What if i was in the shower?" She was understandably upset.
+Ruthiel Alastor yeah I would be terrified too xD
It's a reference to The Johnny Carson show.
I miss earthling cinema :(
Flamenco Jesus is my new band name
This is by far your best one... Absolutely hilarious...
DO BRAZIL !!!!!!!!!!!
Hakan Orhan germany already did them, 7-1
Fink Alt hahaha
+Tristan Allen Wonderful film. The Fisher King as well.
+Hakan Orhan That Robbin William's movie? I say no!
First saw this movie when I was five, the old lady gave me nightmares for damn near 4 years. Effected a lot of my creative output later on, so thanks for the reminder of my mental scars Wisecrack, mwah
Earthling Cinema is the shit!!!
Good ol' Stanny Kubes...
Another fantastic Earthling Cinema. What's next?? Jurassic Park perchance??!
Dudes gotta be Irish with eyebrows like that.
This is insanely brilliant!
Funny how everyone claims the Exorcist is soooo scary but Kubrick's Shining isn't that scary at all. I feel the exact opposite. The Shining really creeps me out while the Exorcist never really scared me that much. Anyone else feel the same...?
This is my first episode. This guy is hilarious. I had no idea what I was watching at first.
Na....the whole movie was Kubricks confession about the fake moon landing he was directing/filming for NASA...but you knew that already, right :P
Terrorkekx I saw that docco pop up on Netflix, watched it half asleep, until the guy narrating said:
"Whether or not we went to the moon, what is certain is that the moon landing footage was shot in a sound stage by Kubrick for the U.S. Government."
Then I woke the fuck up and turned that bullshit off.
How the fuck did this guy get money to take a conspiracy theory which has been thoroughly disproved, and just spout his crap as the facts???
Fuckin crazies...
Correct
Chayyiel
I see you didn't want to use your freedom of speech to rebut me, probably for fear of looking even more stupid on a public forum. Well done, this is intelligent use of your freedoms!
This is hysterical. Subscribed!
The director "Stanley Kubrick" and the image of "Stan Lee" (the comic/Marvel creator) are 2 different people complete, the former alread dead, am I missing a joke here or something?
Alan Mans yes. Yes you are.
Daniel Ayers I'd never seen one of this guy's video's, only realized after there was humor thrown in :) #facepalm
Dear Garyx,
Love your scintillating otherworldly wit!
Speaking of subtly disturbing devil-like figures would be fantastic if you could analyse Silence of the lambs.
Looking forward to more uploads, and those alluring eyebrows.
Appreciate your apt analysis of the social milieu evident in each film; none arises in vacuum after all.
All the best xx
punch drunk love?
Movie summary is better than the actual movie
Ex Machina pleaseeee
this film is so multifaceted that its really difficult to break it down in 5min, but my man mr. wormuloid did a pretty good job.
Notice when Wendy goes in rooms there’s no light switches and furniture is different like she’s hallucinating… I think she went nuts and murdered Jack long before we knew
Good job as always!
The Shining is my favourite film
Great episode as always! 😄
Eyes Wide Shut, please! Thanks for the awesome videos.
Oh baby. Earthling Cinema is back. Nice work, guys. Really funny stuff.
Great Job.
thank you again brilliant as always
It's like I am in an alternate reality with my laptop, wifi signal & Earthling Cinema!!
Greetings from earth, Garyx Wormuloid.
We're not extinct yet, Maybe.....
this is one of my favorite episodes.
this is great stuff.
LOL ok, don’t know how I’ve never seen your content-
Loved this! I’m positive you know just “how many” damn theories there are about this film (another reason I love this film)
But this was a pretty fun take. Gotta see more of your vids, subbed 👍
(Truly do love this idea of Jack signing a “Faust” type contract. Def overlaps w/Jack’s picture in the end, posing w/a well known “satanic” pose & as if “his soul was captured”.
One of so many theories, to reiterate, but very cool vid)
Just visited the Stanley Hotel on Halloween, good stuff
