A great lure to use is a 1/8 or 1/16oz white crappie jigs with white grub worm with procure trophy bass. Also a owner american block head weedless ned rig. Put a 2 3/4 ned rig worm with trophy bass by procure. To get the mid column you can use a dropshot if fish are not super active using a zero z too with trophy bass by procure. A 1/4 oz tear drop dropshot weight. Tear drop dropshot weight is less likely to get hung up on rocks.
After my 2nd attempt in a new spot with the same lure, 4 casts, no bites, im changing lures, use moderate to slow retrieve. I've made out better using moderate to skow retrieve ocassoinally I'll use a fast reel turn 1 second pause. Do 3 times 1 reel turn as fast as you can 1 second pause 3 to 5 times. After the 5th time turning reel fast 1 seconds pause then pause 3 to 5 seconds then repeat. This gives lure a darting action that works great when its warm out. 😊
One last thing using an owner american weedless ned rig with a green pumpkin or California craw colored ned worm with trophy bass. Throw near structure and cover. Once it settled pop rod tip 2 or 3 times. Then pause do that at least twice. If that doesn't work pop rod tip let it settle then pop and settle ned rig but do this 5 times in a row. It'll look like the ned worm is darting away from the predator. Trying a standard retrieve at least 2 to 3 times then 5 to 6 in a darted action afterwards. You do the darting action retrieve if the standard retrieve doesn't work.
Best river fishing channel hands down!
