Richard, you have the best channel on fishing that's on TH-cam. As the church's Bishop, I also enjoy how you honor God. That is very hard to find in our day. I've said this before, but you cost me a lot of money trying to imitate you in the ways you fish. I have followed your advice on many species of fish. Two years ago, I caught my PB of a 10 lb. Large Jaw. My crappie catches have increased extensively. I want to target larger Bluegill this season. I've been successful like many others, but they have yet to be consistently large. I can do the technical pages about fishing, but I like your down-to-earth-speak techniques...because...It's a sport "second to none." And I always go fishing whenever I can, because it's good fer me. I would like to talk to others on this channel. I have suffered PTSD from Vietnam for many years and, in seeing a psychologist for the past eight years, affirm that fishing is a healer for depression. I found it to be true. I couple that with Richard Gene the Fishing Machine and your humor! God Bless.
His Christian Faith, and his knowledge, as it relates to fishing tips and practices, is why I like channels, such as this one, and another great channel on TH-cam, called Creek Fishing Adventures. Both of these Christian Brothers are solidly rooted in their Christian Faith, and they know the different ways to get the fishing done right!
Your knowledge of fishing is unmatched Richard. I learn so many real fishing facts and tips. You sir are the real deal and yes you are a FISHING MACHINE!
I'm so happy I found you when my boys begged me to take them fishing 4 years back. It had been 18 years my uncle passed and thankfully I learned to gut a fish but we gave up fishing because, " it wasn't the same". I was a teenager and now I realize he would've wanted us out there enjoying the beauty of it! God bless you too Richard Gene!
Use a 1/8 oz white crappie jig with a white ribbon tail grub with trophy bass. You'll catch em. Throw white crappie jig, and let it fall 3 to 4 seconds max. Then a moderate speed retrieved, let it fall again, then raise the arm from 9 o'clock to 10 o'clock, and let it fall. Very simple but effective, you will catch bass for sure. Practice, and you'll get it. I caught 3 3+ lb smallies on them, quiet, nice small mouth. Not trophies but descent smallies. 😊😊
As you let white crappie jig with ribbon tail worm fall and raise arm 9 o'clock to 10 o'clock helps. More times than set the hook. Let rod flex and let fish pull. Lean on your strong side, let fish fatigue. When the fish stops pulling, start reeling. Keep pressure on. If there's slack in the line, reel up slack til lines tight and lean into the fish. 😊
The best thing take only 2 rigs and practice with them the whole duration u plan to fish. If u fish 9 months of the year, practice using both lures 4 and a half months one lure. Then practice with other lures 4.5 months. Once you learn to use one lure or rig, incorporate the 1 rig or lure with the other. Use only those 2 lures or rigs.
Thank you Richard. You bless me. My girls and I watch your videos together and just love learning from you. I’m so thankful God uses you to reach so many people.
Thanks, Richard, for a great video. Thanks for giving all the tips and advice. You've absolutely got the best channel. Brother, I've got one question: Why every time that you hook one, you say, " it's a good un ." They're all good uns ! LOL I don't blame you, if someone doesn't get excited fishing, they need to give up. God bless ya'll and stay safe on your travels to go fishing.
I once was blind, but now I see... thank you for the great videos and wisdom on the waters. I always look forward to all your trips and utilizing all your shared secrets. Is that really all there are to it? You make it look too easy!
I remember catching small mouth bass when I was a kid in Missouri . Loved feeling that pull ❤️ keep wetting them Hooks God bless you and your family Mr. Richard..
Thank you for going into detail on the line and the setup, I’ve learned a lot and caught a lot of fish using your techniques and I thank you for sharing your knowledge. Roll Tide!
Thanks, Richard, for all the great info and video! Thanks for giving all the tips and advice. You've absolutely got the best channel. God's Blessings Always! 😇😇😇
Richard - I want you to try that Nikko hellgrammite on a 1/8 oz drop shot with a #1 mosquito or octopus hook. Nose hook that bugger and you'll see it has more natural action in the water. That big hook keeps the bait very rigid. With the nose hook, the whole bait will undulate and wiggle around. It'll always nose into the current and look really sleek. I know you'll like it because fishing is good fer 'ya! Happy Fathers' Day to you, good sir!
Hey Richard, I just wanna say that I support using lighter equipment for bass. Back in the old days, sport anglers used the lightest equipment possible. Now it's all governed by tournament style fishing, and that often means skiing in bass on a medium heavy rod. But giving a fish a better chance with light gear and you'll have a better time...
The small mouth love 1/8 oz white crappie jigs with a white ribbon tail grub. Put trophy bass on it works awesome. It looks like a highly visible baitfish with procure a quality attractant bass will bite. 😊❤
Another good entertaining and educational video Richard Gene. Would love to see you do another fly fishing video. God Bless and Tight Lines, Anthony Hipps
Richard, Did you ever fish for steelhead trout. I think you would love it because they fight like the dickens. They taste good too! I like samon too! Wooo!
I use a 6 inch leader with a size 1 2 or 4 baitholder hook. Then a moderate size split shot. Then i put on trophy bass by procure on a 3 inch hellgamite and smallies crush it. 😊❤
Outstanding fisherman and fisher of men! Great video as always--love that you're willing to teach and that you're not afraid to speak the name of Jesus.
I am a big catfish guy, planning on trying my luck on some crappie in the river And smaller shalloe inlets and outlets into the river from a kayak any suggestions in rod length power, reel size, line, lures bait etc.?
Richard I'm trying to find light jig heads with larger hooks. Do you have a source? The only 1/32 jigs I find have rather small hooks. I'd like to fish a slightly larger swim bait or hellgrammite but the hooks seem too small.
I’d love to see a compilation video of every time he says “WOO” from all his videos
That would be hilarious 😂 😃
Yes we need a WOO compilation
Wa'll, that right thar's a big ole 10-4 on that 'un. Wooooooo!!!!!
That would be like a 10 hour video if it was ALL his videos 😂
@@patrickbajier9915 haha that’s very true

I need to get these baits. Been eyeing them for a while. I’d love to see how you are pegging that bullet weight with a rubber band?
Nevermind, you show that later in your video 👍
Absolutely winner of a video

Outstanding fisherman and fisher of men! Great video as always--love that you're willing to teach and that you're not afraid to speak the name of Jesus.
Richard, question. Where were you that there were those old bridge posts in the distance? The reason I ask is that I am also a railfan.
I am a big catfish guy, planning on trying my luck on some crappie in the river And smaller shalloe inlets and outlets into the river from a kayak any suggestions in rod length power, reel size, line, lures bait etc.?
Curious why you wore waders this time? Would love to know. Thanks!
I found a Dobsonfly the other day! I had no idea Hellgrammites grew up to be something else!
Are you guys swamped down there with Asian carp? We took out boat up the tennesee river the other day and didn't see anything but carp.
Can you go fishing at mt.Carmel lake to fish for big bluegill
Thank You!
Micky C
Do you like this way better than the 1/20th oz ned rig?
Those Nikko hellgrammites are like candy for small mouth I just got a package of 4.25 in natural color ones I won from their Facebook page
Will other fish bite this lure as well?
Largemouth
Red eye
Spotted bass?
Richard I'm trying to find light jig heads with larger hooks. Do you have a source? The only 1/32 jigs I find have rather small hooks. I'd like to fish a slightly larger swim bait or hellgrammite but the hooks seem too small.
THANKS!
I've got a question how do you tie a loop knot
