I have a 15 Classic, the new ones have cooler things on it like cruise, heated grips, lean angle ABS. (if the right option is checked when ordering) but if you're on the fence....get one. doing 40mph in 4th gear and you grab some throttle, be ready. It is so much fun to ride in town, it cuts the wind better than you'd think for a naked bike at speed. And, it's an odd observation, but these bikes have the nicest hardware you've ever seen on a bike, most of the screwheads have BMW on them, everything is stainless, like super nice. I lost a screw for one of my exhaust tip covers, and they're $7.50 each. They didn't mess around when they built this bike, or really any bimmer. I always get compliments on it, Just get one.
The best american motorcycle utuber keeps getting better. Your point about the r ninet wanting to live in the higher rev range is spot on. So much so i didn't really like it. I would take the speed twin over it, and pocket the $6-7 k price difference or upgrade rear suspension and pocket the rest. Hopefully you get to take out the ducati scrambler 1100 with ohlins. That's my favorite. I am not sure how i feel about ftr -- i think they may have overcorrected with the revisions but looking forward to your review
Thanks for this. I must say I think you might be on a winner with this condensed format as it does at least seperate you from all the 10 minute ones. Nice. 👍😎🇦🇺
Actually test rode one last yr thinking I may trade in my 2012 Triumph Speedmaster. The R nineT wasn't my cup of tea. The dealer offered me $2000 trade in for my Triumph. Told him, "no you'd have to give me $2000 to take this thing off your hands". Settled on a new 2022 Triumph Street Twin Goldline. No regrets! Still have my Speedmaster....
love it. it is one on my list... but pretty expensive here in PT. I think it is the most expensive of the retros in this configuration you tried. (not counting the triple RR as a retro)
I tested this bike before and i like it very much, especially the smoothness of the engine. I haven't tested the T120 or the Speed twin yet. What do you think, are they similarly?
The Triumphs will feel a little more refined and smooth. The T120 is practically a cruiser. The BMW feels more unfiltered and has more top-end power, but it takes more effort to get it going at the bottom.
Just tested the T120 a few weeks ago. Now i'm back here again after searching for R nine T. The T120 is smooth but not as the R nine T. And i really feel the power different. R nine T has a lot more power. So, i think i'm gonna go for the R nine T.
I fell in love with this bike when it came out in 2013, it's the bike that got me into the modern retro vibe. I finally tried it last year and didn't like it (handlebar too wide, felt heavy, HP and torque come too late in my opinion). I was kinda sad because I really wanted to love (and buy) this bike, but shortly after I discovered the Speed Twin (probably thanks to your channel) and fell in (true) love within 5 minutes of testing! 2 days later I was at the Triumph dealership to sign my order..!
Wow! I think this bike got a lot of us into the modern-retro scene. I like it and wouldn't blame anyone for picking it, but I agree with you that Triumph really nailed the formula best.
I was seriously impressed with the riding experience of the Ducati. The snarling exhaust noise is incredible, I might like it even better than the Triumph's rumble. Plus it's much better equipped than the Speed Twin. However, the Ducati's fatal flaw is that it's air-cooled, and the rear cylinder doesn't get any air flow. I was riding it on a cold morning, and even then it was the hottest bike I've ever been on. It was so bad that while sitting at a light I had to fight the urge to spring out of the seat and drop the bike, much like the reflex to withdraw your hand from a hot stove. I ended up just turning the motor off whenever I came to a stop. If I lived somewhere that wasn't hot and didn't have a lot of traffic, I'd pick the Ducati. Otherwise it's Speed Twin all the way. Plus the Triumph will probably be more reliable.
@@VanBlamm Okay that's very interesting, thanks a lot! I was so torn between the two but the heat could be the du deciding factor. I've heard about that issue from several sides before. Again thanks! 🙏🏼 I love your videos and I think the 2 minute reviews are a great idea since I find your personal riding experience the most interesting part. 🙂👍🏼
Is it a match for the Speed Twin? I was offered one of these before the Speed came out, I have no regrets but I still like the overall look of the R9T.
It easily goes toe-to-toe with the Speed Twin. I still prefer the Triumph for the looks, useable torque, and wet clutch, but the the BMW beats it on handling, top-end power, and electronics.
You read my mind. This bike is on my list to test - not buy. I’m loyal to my Speed Twin. Have you tried the Ducati 800 and 1100 Scramblers? If so, can you post your link? If not, I’m sure a two-minute review is coming. I was very surprised when I rode them. Great format, VB!
@@VanBlamm I found the riding position, bars and foot controls to be very strange, more so on the 800. I’d still like to ride the Desert Sled though. Looking forward to your review!

That's awesome! I like that BMW were able to give this bike so much character while also building it to a super premium finish

Thank you! I haven't gotten to try the FTR yet, but there'll be a 2MTR on the Scrambler 1100 before long. It is indeed a fun ride.

Nice! The Goldline is beautiful
exactly like every single motorcycle video should be ...short and sweet ! Thank you buddy
Good format. Like the quick discussion - quirks, what you like, riding characteristics, most direct competitors.
Love the format, short and sweet. Keep'em coming, cheers!
Dig this format. Quick and no BS!
Cool format....good idea! Cheers 👍😀🇬🇧
Great info. Love the short format!
Nice short compact video , keep on coming Bro 👍👍
I love my 2019 R9T.

I love that boxer motor!
Hey Great stuff man. keep it up :)
Rquest : can u talk about ur gear ? Gloves ,etc ?
Just dropped a video on the gloves & boots I've been using this year. More to come!

@@VanBlamm So the Speed Twin also nailed it better than the Ducati Scrambler 1100 in your opinion? It´s kind of between the two for me.

Enjoyed the vid. It would be a Griso for me though. Could not live with the sound of the boxer twin.
I need to try out a Guzzi one of these days
Glad I am not the only one thinking this... even with the best aftermarket exhausts It still just sounds ok.
finally my bike 😍 (sort of)
edit: did the youtube-stuff
Love it
Love the looks... wish it had standard cruise control, a fuel gage and $5k off
Love the looks, wish it had a V-twin, a fuel gauge and 5k off. I can't help it but being used to better sound it sounds like shit...

It's an awesome bike, but it's not tempting enough to get me off my 2019 Speed Twin...
You and me both!
👍
I disagree about this bike needs revs to perform, it's a torque monster, ride it on the throttle in 6th gear
very useful... short, to the point. Interested, seek more in depth reviews. not interested, keep looking
I want my two minutes back
