I find it interesting seeing a shift in spirituality. Younger people are beginning to realize that the gimmicky things that try to merge secularism with religion have no substance and leave them feeling empty. For years this has turned me away from religion, having no strong religious base but being drawn to it my entire life, but the hard truths of "repent and believe in the gospel" resonate in a way that some rock group can never match. I have been interested in Catholicism at an increasing rate due to you and Michael Knowles having these deep conversations about religion and never shying away from the sometimes hard doctrines for a sinner like me to hear
Good for you. You won't be disappointed. There is an intellectual and spiritual soul in the church who is literally God. She is life. God's life is moving you.

Question from a recent convert form paganism: I know that we hail Mary but can we also hail God Himself? As a force of habit often in prayer I find myself saying “Hail and love to Thee” because that’s what we would say to the Aesir in Ásatrú. It’s interesting actually because when I’m praying on my own I still find myself praying to the God of the Bible but in a pagan way. We address the deity, we mention something they’ve done which is relevant to the prayer, and then we ask for a favor. So in Christian terms something like “Blessed Lord Jesus, hail and love to Thee. You who was scourged on the pillar, tortured on the cross, died for our sins, and rose again conquering death. As Your obedient son I ask that you have mercy on me, a sinner. Amen.” Like…it’s not wrong but it just feels weird coming out of my mouth! lol
Women like confident men but most unattractive is if the man is too controlling himself, following the formula too much, has mannerisms, afraid of failure, afraid to show vulnerability It's the most unsexy thing, like a robot who makes a joke based on expectations, not based on his current mood, is trying to hide his current mood women don't want perfection, they like authenticity. but women like it if he is a bit vulnerable because such people are open to possibilities, have a sense of humor and don't take everything too seriously.
I saw the Padre pio movie. I didn't think it was boring, I just didn't like that they sold it like Padre Pio was the A plot, I didn't even go in expecting two plots. I also didn't know what to think of the scene with the woman and the image of Maryat the time, but now I feel that we shouldn't have nudity in movies at all. Just like how I think it was a good choice to leave out tom bombadil from the lotr movies.

On the jokes, I remember a couple from Iceland. They may not translate very well, but here we go. First is a video skit. There was a TV station called "Sýn", which means "vision" or "sight". There could be some difficulty setting the decoder up. So there was a short video of a guy looking like Jesus (long hair, beard, white robes) helping a blind guy setting up the decoder, and that was "Jesus giving sight to the blind". That - and a couple of others, equally innocent, actually got the comedians in some trouble, some people decided to take them to court on grounds of blasphemy. This was in the mid 1990s, I think. Another one is from the late 1800s. A man was named Jón, called the scribe, son of Jón who went to Aalborg in Denmark and was therefore called "Aalborg-Jón". Now, Jón the scribe was a judge in Reykjavík in Iceland for a while, and a very religious man. He was very enthusiastic about eradicating any moral breaches, and so if he discovered a man and a women living together while not married, he was liberal with giving them fines and even sending them to jail for a time. Once, Jón the scribe was talking with his friend, Steingrímur Thorsteinsson the poet, and their conversation started to revolve around Virgin Mary, and Jón talked about her with great reverence. I've dealt with my own addictions so I understand your statement...I just look at the option of strengthening myself rather than asking someone to change something that is inherently not sinful.
You and your show are at your best when you’re interviewing Catholic teachers and thinkers, not when you are yukking it up with your sound engineer or wading into the morass of politics.
