I was an LT (lieutenant) in the Army, and once I had my first child I could not longer stay in the Army and be a mom too, I had to choose. I choose to get out of the Army and be a stay at home mom. I got a lot of slack for that, and was blamed for throwing away my education and my career, as if raising my son was a waste of time. At first I felt bad, but I couldn't leave my son, and 9 years later, even with all the financial difficulties we have encountered, I say again that it was the right choice. The Army replaced me right away, but to my children I am irreplaceable.
Absolutely right, mama. I'm working on forgiving our culture for raising me to think being a stay at home mom and an attentive wife would make me weak and stupid. I'm Gen x btw, I can only imagine it's gotten worse over the years, especially now that our economy has adjusted to these stupid ideals. God bless you for ALL of your service
Motherhood is the most important and rewarding role a woman can ever have, by a long way.. it’s an extremely hard job, tireless and often thankless, sleepless nights, worries, and all for no pay. Women by nature are nurturing, and motherhood fills that need to care and serve others, without reward, like a saint! 😇👼
Laura is so funny, and so quick witted! I don’t imagine she would or could be so funny if she had to write a script. I used to be funny like that, but only after a few wines, and I certainly thought I was hilarious. 🙈
Right? I’m 66 years old and have never been married or had children. I’m perfectly happy and certainly don’t need the pity & horror of these three who seem to have had children to buffer themselves from reality. I’d suggest that they keep their prejudices to themselves. Plus this segment is perfectly boring.
Laura is amazing! I’m pregnant with our 4th and I’m a sahm. Sooo nice to see and take note from a real woman who is not pretending to have it all together. I also had to get off social media because I kept feeling depressed comparing myself to others. God bless you and your family Laura. Bless you too Matt!
My mom had to work because my father was disabled so she had to take care of us both. She always told me she wished she could have stayed home with me. Every woman I work with says they wish they could stay home with their kids. I'm praying to be lucky enough to stay home with my child one day.
Matt, I remember in one of the other episodes you saying how you find your wife delightful, and I thought it was so sweet. I can see now why you said that. She really does bring life and energy and light! Bless you both.
I like that she has her priorities straight. Through all the laughing and joking she still is sure to say things that are true. Respect your husband, don’t let social media ruin you, don’t let anything become more important than your vocation. Very centered woman. And it’s nice to know Trent horn is married to a clown (as a compliment!) and not a super quiet, docile, woman
@@jacobrodriguez7771actually I used the wrong word, I think Laura Horn is quite docile, I wanted to say that she’s not shy. @@karinab7658 Well, you're used goods, why should I as a successful 28 year old choose a 30+ year old woman who has another man's kids? I'll choose someone who's in their early 20's without kids and make her my wife..
I can't even imagine the awkwardness of the guy that got my wife pregnant coming around and the constant reminder of him by nature of the children being there. The fact that vvomen think men should simply overlook this is incredibly out of touch. Then, there is the simple logistics, forget taking a romantic trip together, well, even date night, nope, that's over too. I have never listened to Laura before. What a hoot! I was actually in line for confession behind her and her kids once, which I didn't realize until Trent came out of the confessional. The contrast between this video and the reverent silence in Church has my head spinning. As Trent walked past toward the exit I overheard one of the kids say to him "you can tell me, I won't tell."

What Cameron says about the cosmetic work actually having an inverse relationship to improved confidence is so true.. I started getting highlights when I was 15 because my hair was getting darker and darker and it was always bright blonde when I was growing up.. The amount of good feedback I’ve gotten over the years from guys that I’ve dated, commenting on my hair color and how they prefer blondes has made it to where I kind of feel locked into dying my hair this color.. which is a problem bc this is not my natural hair color anymore. So the compliments are not directed to me; they’re compliments directed towards something I pay to have done to myself 🙂🫤. Actually quite scary saying it out loud. Yeahhhh
My opinion of staying at home has honestly changed as well. I’m a working mom and I do somewhat resent when people treat me like I’m a bad mom for working. However, I’ve tried both and we were sinking fast financially without me working in this economy. I have tried hard to make a compromise and never, ever put work before my kids. I work at my daughter’s daycare and hope to eventually teach or do healthcare which I’m passionate about. However, I absolutely do agree there is still an ideal and that is for families to be able to make it on one income. Maybe we’ll get there someday but in the meantime I think it’s more important to be content than to resent my husband for not making more or something like that, so there is a balance I believe.
I definitely hear your point as a fellow married woman who has to work for our family to financially survive. I'm currently pregnant with our first and on maternity leave. When I go back to work, I'll only have to work about 10-12 days a month which is great since it's basically part time. My husband works from home and my family is very willing to help babysit so thankfully we won't have to do daycare. But some people in the conservative Catholic community are so harsh towards women who have to work, as if we are evil, abandoning our children, sinning because we leave the house, etc. But what are we supposed to do? I can't stay home and care for my kids if we can't afford a house to live in. Were my husband and I just supposed to never have children? Should I have not married my husband despite being called by God to do so? In our current economy most men don't make enough money to provide for a wife and multiple kids. I agree that motherhood is more important than my career, but for many nowadays it's not possible to give up a career altogether.
@@sassychimpanzee7431 Thanks for your response and congratulations on your baby! I have a two year old and a little boy on the way (in the third trimester and working as much as I can). I absolutely agree. And the other thing is not everybody lives close enough for family to be the babysitters. My mom works full time as a nurse and lives 2 hours away and my in-laws are the same distance. Sure, we could move to be closer to family but that means moving further away from the other side of the family (we’re just smack dab in the middle). I am actually Lutheran but I think we have many of the same problems with how people view motherhood/feel a little to free to offer their parenting opinions while forgetting that we are trying to be faithful Christians open to life (I do believe in the Catholic view of birth control). Actually we are discerning whether to remain in the Lutheran Church or join the Catholic Church so there’s something to pray about! Bless you and your growing family and, hey, praise God you don’t have to depend on a daycare! Some are great, but again it comes down to the ideals (plus it’s not exactly cheap either). On the Accutane stuff, my doctor actually prescribed it to me for seborrheic dermatitis and got upset when I said I'd want another treatment due to the side effects. By the way, at 2:07:00, whoever asked that question needs to seek marriage again. I learned from a priest who worked on the marriage tribunal that getting married and putting off having children invalidates your marriage as a catholic. Speak to a priest about this and do your research.
Will you have Timothy and Stephanie Gordon on? It seems like there’s a lot of talk about them on these shows, and Timothy on one of his recent videos said that he’s asked for an invite. Wouldn’t it be good to hash things out?

He began pointing to his phone, and to his computer screen and saying that everything has a side effect, so I shouldn't care about accutane's if I use all this technology...the guy was nuts.
Best episode ever! 😂 Matt has such a gift of making people’s humanity shine through his interviews! ❤
This video made me appreciate Laura and Trent even more and I already was a big fan 🌷💕
My favorite, “A child made by Tent Horn!”
It’s been 3 hours since you posted… to late to comment?
Enjoy Laura Horns honesty and positive energy!!
"Why does Trent look more jewish than Ben Shapiro?" ... "From the neck up or neck down?" 😂😂😂😂
Loved this video! She reminds me of my mom
Matt Fradd talking about how you look worse when you get older. When he's never looked better LOL
Awesome having Laura Horn on here! Love her and her videos!! Love her fearlessness!
By the way, at 2:07:00, whoever asked that question needs to seek marriage again. I learned from a priest who worked on the marriage tribunal that getting married and putting off having children invalidates your marriage as a catholic. Speak to a priest about this and do your research.
SUCH A DELIGHTFUL GUEST I’m beyond excited that Laura Horn was interviewed
Laura's laugh is so contagious. 😊 Love that you had her on! She is so joyous.
Thank you for this excellent conversation...you laugh Laura is so contagious and I love it....God bless you both
Laura Horn is so lovely. I really liked this episode.
Will you have Timothy and Stephanie Gordon on? It seems like there’s a lot of talk about them on these shows, and Timothy on one of his recent videos said that he’s asked for an invite. Wouldn’t it be good to hash things out?
this was so fun. 🥰
