The Value proposition voiced by Alastair is very valid . It is with the additional money when you save the time . Travellers to the international airport caught on right away . Medical travel is another group of clients who will be regular users. Next year they might do well to remove one row of seats for additional baggage racking for full size luggage for cruise passengers . Wintertime this might provide access for island snowboarders to the Northshore mountains. Some tweeking to do yet but when Islanders can trust the service , there will be no looking back. One more thing, even in the comfort class , these ferries have the most comfortable seats of any service crossing the strait including BC ferries, float planes , airport planes and helijet. More legroom and Free WiFi with charging points . I will be using this service often.
This is cheaper for me and my pet compared to going from Surrey to Horseshoe Bay. Now with Hullo we can just skytrain from Surrey Central to Waterfront and Hullo goes straight to Downtown Nanaimo compared to bc ferries we used to cab from Departure Bay to Downtown Nanaimo
I tried the Hullo ferry last weekend. Sure the sailing is pretty fast but you have to add on another 45min. waiting/boarding time on each end. It also has very poor signage to find the terminal on the Nanaimo side and on the return, I had almost an hour wait for cabs from the terminal (which is not Hullo's fault in any way). I've concluded that I'll be probably just going back to the Harbour Air float plane for my future travels
The people going backpacking in Portugal would ironically have been much better taking BC Ferries to Tsawwassen, the thing they were trying to avoid. Its an easy transit trip to YVR.from Tsawwassen ferry.
I’m going to use this service in October ( coming from Australia), my uncle has bought a house on the island , so recommended this as the best way to get there from Vancouver airport . I noticed on their website they are now accepting luggage. Do you know if you have to carry it on yourself ? I ask as we are travellling with a couple of suitcases between 2 females , I’m not sure I can drag it up stairs to get to the top level lol 😂
Hi and early welcome! Have you been before? Yeahhh it's a bit of a trek from where you hand your ticket to the boat. I'm not sure if they have a porter service for your bags but I'd email and ask (they respond quickly!). I doubt it though.
@@Ritaisrelocating thanks for the quick reply ! No we have been to Toronto many times over the years , but my uncle is relocating to the island, so will be my first time to Vancouver and Vancouver island. I just saw on a more recent video that they store the luggage on the lower level for you , so that should be fine . Can totally wheel it until we get to that point lol . Really looking forward to finally seeing that side of the country after all these years 🙂
@@Ritaisrelocating oh yay!! Will do ! I’ve already started planning another visit for 2026! lol 😂. This trip will only be 2 weeks as my daughter only started working last year and will only have 2.5 weeks leave . We are splitting our time between Toronto and Vancouver. So I plan on coming back in 2 years by myself and staying longer and doing the train between Toronto and Vancouver. So will stay in Vancouver island again with my uncle .
$39.99 for comfort (the seating downstairs is very nice but you don't get to pick where you sit), $49.99 for Premium and $59.99 for Business, both upstairs. I liked Premium and you get to disembark first.
Thanks for taking us along. Look forward to the next one as always 😎🤘

This is going to make moving to Nanaimo a LOT easier!

That's awesome! Such a handy alternative for most of us.

How long did it take to travel to Vancouver?
@@brandonpeniuk The ride itself was about 70 minutes
@@lenimbery7038 Thanks. Lastly, how much does it cost.
@brandonpeniuk if only there was a website that would tell you all of this
Hullo do offer a shuttle bus to downtown Nanaimo, which I have taken, their driver is super pleasant, maybe try taking a bus from downtown?
Love the hullo
Awesome service!

What transport is best from the airport to Tsawwassen?
Is there a toilet on board the ferry?
"Each vessel has six non-gendered, individual bathrooms on board, just like a plane! One bathroom in each vessel is barrier free."

Yes you have to carry it yourself from the terminal to the ferry, there's no porter service.
Hey thanks for the video. What is the price of a one way ticket?

@@Ritaisrelocating You can choose your seat but there's a $4.00 fee
No the area where you leave your large luggage is right by the door you leave the ferry.
Time your walk from Port place to the cruise ship terminal lol
That's a long way to walk! hullo.com/shuttle-bus-schedule/
It’s 10 minutes from horeshoue bay to downtown
Ummm…..
😂. By helicopter?
10 minutes, plus another half hour minimum. Realistically it's over an hour from HB ferry to downtown Vancouver
@@acleverusername4866 If you get the 257 Express bus from Horseshoe Bay, it's about 35mins depending how busy the bus is of course.
