But some tards think that Sanguinius was able to kill Horus on his own, effectively making Malcador's sacrifice first stupid (heck a primarch can kill the champion of Chaos now rofl, no need to dust myself on the Throne) and second ironic (Malcador allowing the Emperor to walk, inadvertently putting him in the Vengeful Spirit to be hurt by Sanguinius). The greatest single stupidest fan theory in Warhammer40k.

(spoilers ig? everyone should know about Horus Heresy right? idk I'm definitely coming back to edit this):
-Horus gets corrupted, convinces half of the space marine legions & Primarchs to betray Emperor/The Imperium, he kills brother Sanguinuis, Emperor teleports with custodes and imperial fist bois to fight him
-Emperor gets heavily wounded, Horus apologizes and asks to be killed for betraying all of humanity because he believed Emperor was bad father figure, Emperor proceeds to absolutely obliterate Horus from existence.
      - Horus dead, Golden Throne gets made (Thanks Malcador

    40k in a nutshell: *Depression.*
Seriously, contemplating the millenia of war and rebellion and treachery and bloodshed it can be deemed that 40k is grimdark, but when it comes down to it, with context, the Horus Heresy and the stagnancy of the Imperium that followed is probably the most depressing chain of events in fiction. The Emperor tried to make humanity the dominant species in the galaxy and protect them from both hostile alien races and the daemonic only for his sons to fall to Chaos and cause a civil war that resulted in a dogmatic, superstitious and oppressive empire suffering from technological and societal regression on a galactic scale.

    • @stefanoagrimi8074

Depressive perhaps, but not depression. Depression is a profound lack of motivation and purpose. The outcome of that is not doing anything. Life is a constant struggle and effort. If there is no reward for the struggle, there is no point struggling.
But that is not the case with the Imperium. The Imperial Guard, the citizens, fight. Why do they fight, because their fight makes the difference. So as strange as it might sound, it is the opposite. It is hope.

    I achieved vengeance.
I followed my Khan into the Webway and the threshold sealed behind us. Thirty-five brothers, the Khan, and I all ventured into the Webway, and I lost 35 brothers over the next five thousand years.
When I finally returned to see what the Imperium had become in my absence, in 998.M41, I wept, for the Imperium that I had fought for no longer existed, and in it's place was the very Imperium Horus had fought to create.

All it takes to fall to ruin is to question yourself and the very existence of the universe. Stay steadfast in your morals, and never doubt yourself about who you are or why you fight. You'll always be the villain in somebody's story, just make sure you don't find yourself becoming the villian in yours. Iron Within Iron Without.

I see a lot of people saying the emperor should have bee a better dad. I think the primarchs should have been better people. They were already grown men when he found them, and were told upfront that they were created for the specific purpose unifying and improving the galaxy. The ones who fell were just selfish, not having the strenght of character to put themselves aside for humanitys future

Fulcrum was possessed by an extremely powerful demon though I think that was retconed
I mean yeah logar should be hated but if the emperor didn’t want to be worshipped then probably don’t be all godlike and use religious terms in the imperium.

Konrad was done so stupendously dirty outside of his own control I don't even blame him
and frankly Ima be real and say horus shouldn't have fallen, he was the closest of the primarchs to the emperor, and of what I know they didnt do any mind bullshit trickey, erebus just *tried to convince him* that Big E was trying to be a god, which even if he belived him, (which anyone that close to someone would have known something about how emp just wanted humanity to become the greatest in the galaxy'n'all) he would have at least Done some investigation about it for or at least ask about, now if that whole theory about how no matter what chaos get half then everything makes sense.

The Emperor managed to create godlike warriors and strategist, but he failed to give them what they really needed: a father.
He raised them to be demigod-like in their behaviour. However, he failed to realize that humans, unlike gods, are not meant to be perfect...
