A fairly easy, low level ride for the novice off-road mountain biker. The video pays particular attention to the terrain to ensure potential riders can judge if it is suitable for their level of riding ability.
An enjoyable, circular, EMTB ride through beautiful countryside between Staveley and Windermere, in the LDNP. The route uses umpteen bridleways, by-ways & minor lanes (mostly) across very varied terrain from woodland to open grassland, fell land and of course the inevitable, rockier sections. A cracker of a route for those wanting to avoid the tourist hotspots.
There is a somewhat overgrown section of bridleway from Bulman Strands (overgrown when we rode it in late summer) where we chose to push the bikes and I've included an alternative minor road route that can be viewed on my map.
This ride is 25 miles long & roughly 50% off-road. A basic map showing the route is available at the end of the video or you can view the route on Komoot at 'Cumbrian e-bike trails'.
This is a lovely route for those riders who don't fancy the more technical, high-level routes; the routes that are readily available in books, magazines, youTube etc.
I've put together this ride and several others as I've found a distinct lack of detailed information on rideable off-road routes for those of us with mountain e-bikes (hardtail or full suspension) who want to enjoy an easier, but fun, ride.
The number of senior e-bike riders like ourselves appears to be rapidly increasing and I'm hoping these routes will be useful to those visiting Cumbria and the Lake District and maybe even other local residents.
    00:00 1st off-road section (Ashes Lane)
01:40 Back onto a minor road
02:50 Grassy trail towards Borwick Fold & then Ings
10:12 Up out of Ings and onto rocky trail
13:40 Through High Borrans & down minor road to Windermere
    15:06 Through residential Windermere &
15:45 Onto an easy byway to Cleabarrow
18:18 Short section on the B5074
19:33 A rockier green lane (probably most difficult part of ride)
24:22 Very short section on the A5082 from Winster
24:31 Another fun bridleway across to Thornyfields
26:28 Avoid overgrown bridleway by going left!
27:45 Bulman Strands & heading onto overgrown bridleway you might want to avoid!
    28:49 Check out overgrown section
31:13 Onto another bridleway towards Crook Hall and where alternative route rejoins
34:25 Bridleway (Cappelrigg Lane) through Beckside Farm
38:40 Back to starting point with a very short distance on A591
    39:32 Route map

Your videos are really useful for me to plan rides when we visit the lakes. My partner is not so confident on more technical routes and doesn’t appreciated when I’ve mistakenly taken us up Skiddaw! Clear instructions and give me a much more accurate idea of the terrain than just planning on a map app. Just a couple of observations. For me, the music isn’t necessary, and a separate mike or ‘wind muff’ would enhance the videos even more. But great rides and please keep posting. Thank you

It's great to see you're both doing well 😊
I did the same route back end of last year, was a bit more boggy in some bits
Funny I ended up pushing bike in same places as you haha 😄
    But an enjoyable ride 😊

It's so much fun getting out on these e-bikes but must admit I like drier conditions ..... still Spring is just round the corner 🤞! I want to try some of the bridleways up on the Green Quarter/Kentmere area so definitely need it to be drier! 😊

Forgot to add, a gpx file link on Komoot or strava would be great too😊

Thank you and appreciate your comments. Your partner is the very rider these videos are made for so good to hear they may be of use. I’m not on Strava but you can access my rides on Komoot at ‘Cumbrian e-bike trails’ 👍. I’m not tecky so this is a steep learning curve and in the future will try to sort a way of putting a gpx link in the description! 🤪 Also am wondering if music necessary as even though I try to keep it quiet when editing, when it’s uploaded TH-cam seems to up the volume 🤷‍♀️🤣 Hope you get as much enjoyment out of riding these routes as we did and continue to do 🚵🏻‍♂️🚵‍♀️

Thank you. Good to hear. I plan the routes using Komoot and then transfer to the e-bike flow app and open that on either my iphone (held firmly on my bike with the bosch smartphone holder) or on the kiox 300 display. As I wear glasses I prefer seeing the larger screen on my iphone so that's what I usually use.
