With every bike I've owned and currently own.
@@werdna2602 Do you plan on changing?
Great Video - sound advice. My Trek emtb has now done 14000 miles (well I have actually, the bike has carried me). I change the whole drivetrain every 2000-3000 miles, as it's just a 9 speed and the parts are cheaper. I don't overclean the bike, just concentrate on the parts that can wear like drivetrain, pedals, suspension, linkages. I protect the frame where it can rub with carbon fibre look wrap (the kind people put on cars), it's not expensive and can be cut to shape & when heated with a hairdryer, doesn't come off. Finally, every month or so I literally give the bike a complete overhaul and it's amazing how you can pre-empt some failures when you go over it with a fine toothcomb. I do have another emtb which I keep for "special" rides and having two seems to be the best way to look after both.
Great video guys! I put tape and all that stuff on in the past, meanwhile i dont care anymore. My bike gets scars and that makes em telling a story of nice and epic rides 😊
Send a photo in to the Bike Vault for a chance to get a Steve Jones Vs Owen debate 😉
Great tips, thanks
So pleased I have watched this ,I keep my bike at work in the compressor room it's about 80° never even thought about the heat and the battery, think I've been lucky.
I’m digging the purple spokes on that bike and the blue spokes on the bike Neil was riding. That blue speaks to me. Lovin it!
Those Whytes are looking good!
🇺🇸
Those are Industry Nine wheels
Orange though :S
The purple and orange combo is 👌
On My cranks, I have a hard plastic cover that slips over them. Undo the peddles to fit
I hope Neil cleaned it for you first 😁 if only we were all like Neil and had an Owen to keep our bike's running sweet 🤟
And a Doddy too.
I took in my bike in for first service after one year of riding (May to October) with approx. 2000 km on the clock to the place I bought it from. 89 kilos, old guy (50 yrs old), still pretty downhilly now and then. Shockwise they did nothing but put some air back in. So there’s that.
I’m new to e-bikes, I’ve just bought an Orbea Wild M-Team, unfortunately the battery is sealed in the bike frame, you can’t remove it. How does that work re storing it please, I’ll be leaving it in my shed???
I wore out the chain ring and cassette after running the same chain for a year (I did around 65km elevation gain)
It's critical to be aware of acoustic changes in the system rode my performance line bosch motor into the ground the bearings actually made a hole in the motor body..ruined! Full rebuild including motor body from performance line bearings....as new top bannanas
How many miles did you do before it got to this point? Would be great to know as reference! Sorry that you had to fully rebuild it, it's probably running like new now? 🍌
Got my first e-bike a vitus e-mythique vrx, not 3 weeks ago and already broken washed very gently with a low pressure hose and muc off products now won’t turn on even tho battery is charged, looks like lots having the same issue with water ingress sad times 😢
If you plan to dont ride your ebike for long time (in winter) store your battery at 50% charged.
How do u get the battery to 50% from full if u not going to ride it????
Deplete the battery n charge to 50%
@@SuperStrykerBoy Well, you just plan ahead. I know when I am going to stop cycling and avoid charging it fully on my last ride. 50% is just a rough guide… anything between 50% and 80% is preferable.
@@edteach3r 50% is best if u want to keep battery longevity. Maybe u could put your ebike upside down and hold walk assist button with something and wait for baterry to discharge until its 50%
@@p199a on my 700 battery 😂.. maybe old treadmill can play some action
You guys should show motorhub ebikes too. Also, how to clean them. Why only mid hub?
Can you do a sram axs guide for running the new t-type with other manufacturers components 😎
Yeah it’s real simple: don’t, I have AXS and it’s finicky even with the correct components
There’s no such thing as an acoustic bike. It has nothing to do with sound waves.
Best way I destroyed my e bike is riding it lol swing arm snapped but warranty replaced it and I welded it while I was waiting for warranty lol 😂 much love great video 😊
What bike was that 😂?
for myself i am guilty of not washing my e bike after a ride and is a bit caked in dirt, but the worst is i charge up the battery because i intend to ride the next day. but when the weather changes and i put off the riding then winter hits quicker then i anticipate and i end up storing my e bike battery fully charge, even though till next spring. i know you are not suppose to.
Would be really nice if bosch etc. would make a battery "emptier" or integrate as a feature in a charger where you can choose to decharge the battery to 50%.
So show us a mudguard that has be shown on this channel that protects the drivetrain.
Inserts are well worth it, I run them front and rear. Wouldn't be without them now
Inserts are amazing, especially on eBikes because of the extra weight 🤘
I destroyed 3 motors in Tongsheng mid drive kits using the open source firmware and following ill-advised setups that fry the motor.
Good kit with default volts/amps/watts. About 100$/motor and not to hard to replace but not worth the burnout risk for a marginal bit more performance imho.
I would not even consider modding my Trance E+
Wig?
you can use chewing gum to water proof the motor.
As you would in the oldern days to stop a leaking pipe
Interesting Hack... or Bodge 🤔
yea it was in jest, but probably works :D@@embn
Has anyone experienced their pressure washer blocking up drain ports. I would have bet the exact oppersite. To me it's like they decide the theme of the video and then go too far.
Pressure washers can sometime force dirt into places that you don't want dirt 😬
Leaving fully charged at 100% for a long time can stress the batteries
Some brands like Giant have a hibernation mode which is activated by the charger, this is great for winter storage! ❄️
That is rapidly becoming a thing of the past
Shocks servicing after 30-50 hrs of riding? Did I get that wrong or ist that complete BS?
I'm at about 250hrs and didn't do anything except rechecking/refilling air. Not sure if I should be worried about it and start panicking. Suspension seems to work fine without any issues.
It will depend on the manufacture, but yes it's best to check their recommend service intervals for optimum performance
The air cans are high maintenance in my opinion, always have been . I’m on a spring rear and front , old school chaps . Ride a Kenevo 2019 , it’s been bullet proof so far 👍🏼👍🏼🤜🏻
How many service appointments add up to a new fork?
@TschingisTube if you keep on to of servicing you should hopefully never have to replace the whole fork! If you use a suspension specialist they will tell you if it ever get's to that stage 👍
Motors aren't waterproof (they're actually classified as splash proof) so don't be surprised when it goes pop if you often ride in the rain or wash your bike at your local petrol station.
The only acoustic bike is your ebike, it is the one that makes sound like a bee all the time
Not mine
Barnett
Who's the new owner of Orange and Nukeproof, did you already find anyone interested? 😂
You say store battery at 10c but on one of your embn videos from 3 years ago you said store at 20c.
As a rough guide I would recommend storing batteries above 0C and below 30C. For the purpose of Charging your battery 10C-30C. Before use above I recommend above 10C. In simple terms avoid extremes of high or low temperatures. In reality we will all go beyond these recommendations, they for guidance, to be avoided where ever possible. In engineering, recommendations are always quiet conservative, to cover the arse of whoever wrote those guidelines. They are all guiding towards a longer battery life and optimal performance, not life or death at all.
1:20 10:05 Just say no to the nonsense term "acoustic".
That does not mean its good at cross words 😂
“How to ruin your ebike, manufacturer edition”
Step 1. Spec a Shimano motor…
How insulting is this video, make sure you use your bikes charger, it’s a smart charger but that doesn’t mean it’s good a crosswords! Unsubscribed!
i was more disappointed i hoped it did my crosswords.
Huh ?
