After seeing the movie it would show him as the one who set John up. I don't believe he would tell this story if that were true. The book tells some stories differently and liberties have to be taken to make the movie more appealing to audiences. Did that happened with this part as I thought John was a stand up guy to his friends? I would be angry in the same position. It could have been anything that took him away but he should have sought him out for his help as a mate would do. Or could it be he was there for another reason and Eddie as John's mate talked him out of it? We'll never know. I thought more of McVicar than to let Eddie Richardson dictate his actions. Am I wrong? Was John McVicar part of the gang like his prison report had said? I though him and Eddie were just mates. He was an Armed Robber and just of that world. I always thought he done it for the buzz more than necessity?
I have heard and read a lot about John mc vicar and most of the lads don't care much for him, he Is one of them reformed criminals, imagine doing all that for someone and they don't even come over and shake your hand and say thanks, bad that.

I feel that this Eric just speaks the truth he definitely doesn't have an ego like most of the old 60s London face's that gave interviews or popped up on the odd documentary, alot of those guy's just didn't appear to be truthful or at the very least everything was exaggerated by the likes of Frazer!
In the movie Mcvicar is Bill Murray's character based on Eric then?

Giving that mc vicar has voiced his dislike of charlie richardson and it would have been seen mc vicar double crossed charlie by eddie i some how doubt the two were at the bar togeather

I loved the McVicar film. Only bit I never liked is when he said he ‘never wanted the boy’ when referring to his son Russel. That must have been pretty hard on his son.
I No is son Russell I've done jail with him. Top man he is
@Hulio hoppio I started my 5 Years prison sentence in Doncaster prison then on to HMP Wolds prison which is now called HMP Humberside then I went to HMP Lindlhome then on to HMP Moorlands them I got out and then I got recalled back to prison then I went to ( HMP Ramby were I meet Russell Grant ) McVicar ) as he gos by is mum's maiden name then I went to everthorpe Jail then I got out I ended up doing 4yrs & 9 months out of the 5 Years sentence what a joke. Russell is one of the best people that you will ever meet from Mark in Sheffield

@Hulio hoppio Last time I heard of Russel he just went straight into a 15 Yrs sentence run off from a Cat D did a armed robbery in Blackpool what got him on Crime watch 😂 which he got another 16yrs for. I've worked it out he should be out now if he's not Fucked up again. All the best from SHEFFIELD mate
