What I love about these videos is its real life, real people as it is.
Very honest account of what happened here. We all knew that Ronnie could be extremely violent then a peaceful soul moments later due to his condition.
He's not being completely truthful because i heard he actually shit his trousers and the smell was so bad they couldn't finish the job and tossed him out the door!
Justin England Yes, he was very ill and back in those days there wasn't a great amount of help and stigma was huge surrounding mental health. Both fellas did their time, to long I'd say, especially Reg. When I think about terrible crimes today they hardly do 16yrs for it even less for worse. They will always be legends long after we've left the Planet! What would they think of the Eastend now...the whole twin aspect is very interesting. I wonder what Reg would have done if Ron hadn't been around, I expect a bit of this and that but would have been a good club owner and that would be that. I think it's very sad in a way, I hope there all happy up there they did their time which is more than I can say for horrendous crimes today. I have a certain respect for them Reg would have done a great deal in helping young offenders get a better life as he says in his last book, and I believe he would have done.
John Bryan yes I heard that too from my old mate Charlie barker who worked for the twins. What happened was Len was drinking hot whiskey that night in a club before he went to valence road . And when he got there Ronnie came towards him with the poker but he never actually physicaly burned him he was just trying to frighten Len . What happened was when Ron was coming toward him with the poker Len shit himself but some of it splattered on to his head and burned all his hair off. Nearly burned Down the whole house he did it kept shooting out. So Ron told the boys to evacuate him while he battled the flames with a fire extinguisher cause the sitting room had caught on fire. And he his mother violet was up staires in bed. After that Ron said he would never put the freighters on Len again. True story that .

This story was put into his head by the Kray's first biographer (as were most of the myths that have become facts over the years). When writing his book he needed stories, lots of stories, this is how the Kray gravy train began. A poor liar embellishes his lies with unnecessary details, "I went looking for my mate" "someone's wife died of cancer" "I said to the cab driver" etc etc not a single word of truth here. The only truth is Hamilton's dislike of the Krays, this was because the Kray's taxed whatever he stole which was mainly the proceeds of burglarising ordinary homes and pick pocketing certainly not burgling 'mansions'.

Spot on Peter, he was no 'jewel thief', too thick for that game, probably an opportunist creeper going around doing away with a load of poor Doris's heirlooms was the sum of it, and probably why the twins had no respect for him, you never hear him talk about his exploits like most do, the planning, the recon, execution etc.so it was obviously all petty theft, also as well as the story always changing he always refers to the guy who called out as 'someone in the back', if it was a stove it was a kitchen, if it was a kitchen it wouldn't fit many men so you'd clock every face in there and DEFINITELY remember the name of the 'someone' who saved you ftom a poker in the eye, full of shit

Anthony Donnely He goes on and on about it as well. It was interesting in 1989 but it's lost it's punch a little bit now.
I've heard him tell this story a few times but he doesn't have a mark on him.I burnt my hand 30 years ago (nothing major) but you can still clearly see the mark
I read a book of his some year ago his dates don't add up Hamilton must have had a time machine

@martyn smith disagree mate. 100% disagree. All this talk about how the Krays kept the place 'clean', OK maybe back then. Kids of today have no respect for anyone, not even for their parents. They don't give a fuck about faces and reputations and wouldn't think twice about blowing the Krays away.
Bollix would they you have to remember their heyday was the early sixties. This was before the Internet before Utube before any boys or movies had been made about them they weren't "famous" the Sunday papers loved writing articles about gangsters trying to make London seem like Chicago in the twenties in order to sell papers every story in the now defunct News of the World was about gangsters or kinky vicars it was about as believed as the Sunday Sport scoop about a double decker bus found on the moon. They were known around Bethnal Green and in the London underworld generally but outside of that nobody had heard of tem before the trial then Pearson.'s book came out and started a craze next the Lambrianou brothers brought out book's and the Krays spotting an earner started turning out books. By the mid eighties any who had ever said hello to the twins had written a book about them .by the nineties every ex gangster,convict,doorman , football hooligan drug dealer ,,debt collector and unlicensed boxer had a book out it'd an oindus7
