      I know I’m 3 years late but still. This is for qualifying in America. So the process takes time. It may be a year or 2 until you get into a sled, but first step is try out or get recruited. You’ll probably want to do the prior unless your in the top 10% of sprinters and weigh near 200 lbs, but you’ll try out at a combine somewhere across the country. Consistently they are at the Olympic training centers, and then wait until you get contacted. If you are under 18 years old things will be very rough as there have only been two to qualify at that age and one to remain that age during training (Me 😊). You may need your legal guardian to contact the team for you (ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW YOU QUALIFIED AT A COMBINE). So you qualified (HURRAY) you will eventually get an invite to a rookie camp or train with the team. You are now doing the sport. Oh wait you want to go to the Olympics. Here are the steps. Perfect your technique and try to take a spot on one of the 3 best teams in the nation. Compete and get familiar with the sport and its environment. If you make it to the World Cup (top level) you have almost a perfect chance of going to the Olympics. Hope this helps. sorry I’m late and how long it is.

    I hope, I just hope that you're aware that, in this sport, only big guys are likely to win, partly because of them being tall, heavy and muscular. Weight goes downhill faster, doesn't it? There you are, the trick is exposed. 4 skinny guys take longer to slide downhill than 4 fat guys, yes? Right. The moment you see 4 tall, heavy and strong men, you will have to guess they will win by a margin. Plus, the lighter the sledge the less it takes to gain speed, even by a kilo in difference, if you catch what I mean.

    • @Dim.g0v
      @Dim.g0v 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A person could say in professional basketball only tall guys are likely to win. In every sport the physical advantages that can give a person a competitive edge are known. Those things are a given.
      I think we should give more attention to the skill in memorizing tracks, piloting, mastering the pushoff, navigating parts of the track with more or less friction, etc. The competitors are all heavy and strong what makes more of a difference is skill, luck, and how well funded their program is.
      The engineering behind the sleighs is a good point you made. Some countries can afford to have the best engineers design the most aerodynamic sleigh out of expensive materials. I think that's where merit as well as margins are in question.

    • @RipleySawzen
      @RipleySawzen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dim.g0v That may be true, but there have only been 25 NBA players less than the average height of all men, out of 4,374 of all time. That's barely half a percent. And NBA players aren't relying almost purely on simple physics for 95% of the time.

    • @Dim.g0v
      @Dim.g0v 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RipleySawzen I think you're looking too deeply into the analogy and I took time to touch on the parts of the sport outside of the sledder's control.
