Well going to get a sourcekrate now. I could never bring myself to pay over a 100 dollars for a plastic box. Marine grade anodized aluminum that makes way more sense to me.
I have the Flambeau Tuff Krate Premium. Does everything I need it to do and it only cost me $60.00 on Marketplace. I made some mods by adding 550 cord to the lids and attached to the body so they don't just flop all of the way open and bungee cord across the top to strap down a jacket. I also put a small zip tie on the back of the hinges to prevent them from ever coming off.
I think the Blackpak is heads and tails above all the others. The material it’s made out of is long lasting. I think the Flambeau plastic feels cheap and could be easily cracked with that honeycomb design. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Flambeau tackle trays, but their crate is not the best try at a great crate. To me the Wilderness crate doesn’t have the bells and whistles and flexibility of the others. I think the SourceKrate at $269 is way too much for what it is. I think this crate is for a very particular 3D angler. Personally, I wouldn’t pay that for a box full of holes and no lid. I’d just pay $20 for the old milk crate.
@@NuFishin I appreciate your perspective. I adjusted my pricing last week and cut all the margin out of our metal panels. We have a budget bundle with 4 rod holders and cargo net for $179.99 and the anglers bundle is now $219.99.
I have a milk crate that I use for fishing. I tried to use a milk grate that I cut down as a top for items but it did not work out so I took it flipped it over, zipped tied it down , now it is a lid. I put plastic tubes on the side to hold my fishing rods.
I use a TuffKrate. The reason I went with it was the price. Can't think of any complaints, but the only other experience I have is with a DIY crate, so I can't say how it compares to a BlackPack Pro.
I recently got a fishing kayak and have been going out a ton on my local rivers. I only have one rod at the moment (medium light that I use for ned rigs, 4" wacky, small swimbaits etc). I have a medium spinning rod (rated 1/4 - 3/4oz) that I need to get a reel for so I can start brining out two rods. What would you recommend I use the medium rod for? I was thinking maybe top water as that's what I am lacking? Any suggestions on what you would do/lures to use? Thanks!
@@paulglass7268 Thanks man. If I have a ned rig tied on my medium light majority of the time. What would be the best compliment lure to that on my medium? Just trying to keep it simple at the moment and not changing lures all the time etc.
We grab a ML over the Medium 9 times out of 10. But if you want a one two punch, rig your moving baits on the Medium and follow up with the ML with a Ned or fluke.
That Source is sweet. But reaaaaally.. there’s no competition for YakAttack unless budget is an issue. Anything with a transparent top is a problem, really surprised they designed it like that.
I DIY'd my own crate, I attached 3 rod holders and a cup holder and some side pouches. I do want to add a top to it., I just need another crate to cut. I score mine 9/10 ...lol.
@@paulglass7268 lots of ppl use them in place of a crate. They are dry boxes, have rod holders, and are perfect for it. You can use it for bait if you want, a cooler, but they are popular as a crate substitute,
What is your go to kayak crate?

I went with a DIY milk crate since this is my first season using a kayak. I may upgrade for next year.

Thanks for featuring my product! So happy to see it in this lineup with so many other great crates 💪

M loc! Happy to see that on fishing gear now and not just pew pews
Getting a fishing kayak this spring. Thanks for the video because I want to make mine the most baddass kayak on the water
Tackle backpack goes in the back of the kayak, tethered to the hull. No crate needed.

Rad!
I jave the Flambeau without the top need to get that

My blackpak came with my yak so 10/10 🤣

Spinnerbaits, topwater and a lot of what you use the ML for too

@@aaanglers Thanks for the advice!!! Anything specific you suggest?
Having a great warranty is also a plus with. The blackpac but do wish they was cheaper
agreed!
Im more a catfishing guy so the wilderness one has my attention the most just for the cooler idea .

I covered it in stickers and it reduces the temp from 1000 degrees to 700 degrees lol

No Railblaza crate?
Don’t have one and just based off the website didn’t like it as much as some others
@@paulglass7268That’s understandable. I’m using a DIY’d milk crate this season. Maybe I’ll upgrade to something else next year.
I think that they need to lower the prices on them
This would have been another perfect vidieo to insert time stamps to peg your comments/review for each crate.
We will have to go back and do it. To be honest we do this super part time and hustle just to get videos up. But we will try to do that more.
Engel Bait/Cooler
Didn’t seem like much of a kayak crate

I like the concepts but I just can't pull the trigger on a storage crate costing >200 bucks. Not happening.
Totally understand, the basic crate is still a fantastic option!
