I use a Magellan medium dry crate. It fits on my Native Titan and it fits a bunch of stuff. Only problem is that it fits a select few kayaks with HUGE tank wells
Still rocking a XL milk crate, up to 10 rods, visi pole, extra plastics bag, drag rope, yeti soft side cooler, and 5 of the small Plano bags. In a Bigwater Pdl 132
Predominantly a back lakes angler, I don’t need to bring as much gear/tackle as a tournament angler would so I went with the 13x16 YakAttack BBP. Personally I love the friction hinge lid bc I can lift the lid, have it stay put, and grab whatever I need all one handed. The only accessories I added were a MightyMount for my BoomStick and an extra set of TetherTubes for a total of 6. Speaking of the tubes, I’d like to add that those tethers do a great job keeping my rods from rattling around (GoPro picks that up annoyingly good). I can also attest to its water resistance after spending numerous 10-14hr days in the rain, zero water penetration. One thing that no one ever mentions is warranties. Yes the BBP may cost a bit more but like all YakAttack products, it comes with their “Built for Life” warranty.
I use the Flambeau. I cannot say how much I enjoy and use the smaller top storage area/lid. I keep all kinds of little misc stuff and smaller boxes in there. I just use 3600 boxes in the crate, I can get 7-8 of them in there, which is plenty. I mounted extra PVC tubes between the stock rod holders, so I can get 6 rods on it. Love it!
I have the flambeau and the 16x16 blackpak. Love them both. Both hold everything I need for a days fishing trip. I did customize the flambeau with some diy things that made it even better. I now use the flambeau for saltwater after getting the blackpak.
I use the big flambeau, and its insanely good. i added small dividers to make soft plastic storage, tool storage, size 31 lithium battery and still room for another 3700 crate, line, leader and my railblaza light. plus it has 4 rod holders, giving my PA14 180 19 total rod holders.
I use a plastic file carrier with a 3700 riveted to the top and holds 4x3600 inside 5$ at goodwill. I haven't been out in the rain with it yet but it would be fine.
I use the wilderness system. It came with the kayak so the choice was already made for me. I’ve ended up loving it and after upgrading my tackle storage to all 3700 Plano edge box’s I love it even more. So the plus of this crate is that you can fit 3700’s in it and the lid shuts.
Right now got 3 of the std sizes and the crankbait box. Still room for one more of the crankbait box’s or a std. so it might fit 6 of the stds or like 8 of the thins. Depends on how the math works out on box thickness. Also it’s pretty darn water proof. Been fishing all day in the rain and still dry inside.
I bought a Craftsman Versastack 17 inch plastic tool box from lowes for like 17$. I put 5 rod holders on it. I like it because its got the handle which makes it easy to carry with all my tackle in it. I put bungies across the top to keep my stuff from falling out if I flip over. 👊👍
Bought my wilderness systems kayak krate for $119 last year before black friday. Waited for a long time for it to get that low but definitely worth it.
If I had to do it all over again, I would just get a milk crate. The new BlackPak is susceptible to warping in hot summer climates like where I live. I also had to add washers underneath the Gridloc Mighty Mount XL for the T bolts to fit. My old BlackPak has been sitting outside for over a year staring at me with none of those problems-lol, still my favorite crate. :)
I'm in Arizona and I've had mine for 2yrs with ZERO issues. I've fished 120+ summer days and it's spent days in my Jeep and well over 300 degrees in there. That's crazy the new one has issues. I have the gen1 16x16.
I love my wilderness systems crate! I would have never paid full price but I got one from a friend for 20$ and now I love it so much if I ever lost mine I would buy another one at full price lol
I like the Plano V-crate. For someone who uses a smaller kayak that I don't like to standup in. It is a very creative way to give you access to your tackle.
The Walmart crates are a rectangular footprint, holds more but is awkward. I found that 2 square (cube) crates fit perfectly inside the wheeled Plano waterproof tote, great for open truck beds and trailers.
I still have milk crates from the '70s. The good resin kind, not the cheap plastic like the crates at home depot. I appreciate the bomb proof nature of the old school milk crates. And you can mount or bungee everything you need to them. I use drybags to keep essentials dry. Awesome reviews guys!
Love the flambeau, but the latches suck! I keep a 100ah lifepo4 battery with pwm controler in the bottom and all soft plastic on the top. I modified it with 6 rod holders and 2 of the wilderness mesh pouches on the outside. It's also the same dimensions as the harbor freight/ Stanley deep storage boxes so you can easily bolt to the lid if you want more storage. With that said i might switch to the 16x16 black pak next year.
Had a couple milk crates become available and was going to switch as my current crate changing a couple things with the lid and splits i did in current one. Only to learn that most milk crates are square and don't fit my 3700 boxes as you mentioned. Will probably make one into a "car" crate.
I’ll keep my normal milk crate a normal milk crate is so customizable you can do whatever you want to it because it only cost $10 and if you mess it up you can start over with a new milk crate there ain’t no way I would pay $150 for black pack there’s no way .
I had the Flambeau Tuff Crate and loved the top “drawer”. But the latches broke easily & sadly, I lost the crate and everything in it when I went turtle mode last fall. I now have the 13x16 Blackpak, with a ShortStak and I also have the Trackpaks. Absolutely love my YakAttack stuff! Bulletproof.
Yak gadget low pro xd is hands down the best. I wanna say I have fit something like 14 3700’s. I currently run 2 3700 deeps, 3 3700 thins, 2 3700, plano edge frog box and spinnerbait / buzzbait box and 2 soft worm binders. Plus the 6 rod holders. For $170 bucks.
I paid only $72 for my Flambeau Tuff Krate (with the lid and upper tray) from Amazon. It came with 2 rod holders (which I thought was weird that it didn't come with 4), but I bought an additional 4 rod holders and I mounted 2 on the front and 2 on each side with none on the back (because of the upper tray/lid hinging). I also used some paracord (drilling holes and putting knots on each end of the cord) to limit how far both the lid and the upper tray hinge back so I don't end up with it hinging too far back that I have to perform some incredible kayak yoga while on the water to get tray/lid shut again. I only use the poorly designed Flambeau rod holders to simply store my rods when I'm not actually fishing/trolling with them (I have rod holders better attached to my kayak for that). Definitely the best deal going in the more fancy (as in not a milk crate) kayak crate with the rest being 2-3x the price (which is just crazy). It doesn't hurt that my kayak is winter camo (black, gray, blue, white), so the light gray Flambeau looks awefully pretty on my kayak.
nice..i was wondering about the Black pack pro...i am rocking the yak gadget Low Pro crate XD...i like how its slanted and they stagger the boxes so i can reach into crate without having to turnaround
Btw, check out the black pack pro elevated feet accessory that yakhobby makes. Raises everything up a tad for easier access and in case you get too much water into your tank well
Sorry, nope. Unless you get the top piece, you are just overpaying for a jazzier milk crate. If you’re going to pay for the lidded portion you might as well just spend a couple extra bucks and get the 13x16 Blackpack Pro.
It’s $37 for the base, bungee included with easy rod attachments you can buy cheap. And $82 on sale for the lid version. Thats a LOT cheaper than the blackpack, not a couple bucks. We’re purely talking value. Personally I prefer the Black Pack
@@aaanglers I had it backwards. I was thinking 82 for the crate and 40ish for the top part. However, I wouldn’t pay 119 for that and then have to spend another 15-20 to buy rod attachments. Now you’re up to 140ish. I’d rather pay 10 more for the black pack rod holders included. Just my opinion. (Btw I love my black pack).
All overpriced and unnecessary, unless maybe your fishing a tournament. If I know a body of water well I need like one small tackle box and few soft plastics I can just keep in front of me
Imagine not latching a lid and loosing all that tackle in a rollover. You guys are carrying way too much. Be honest….your gonna run your top 10 lures and about 10 plastics in a day and that’s a high estimate. Need 2 boxes and a soft pack. Keep it simple out there.🤙🏼
What is your go to kayak crate?
I'm giving the Magellan 50l gearbox a try. Has a ton of room and is water tight.
milk crate or course
I have a black pack, but I miss my milk crate. Much lighter and no lid.
I use a Magellan medium dry crate. It fits on my Native Titan and it fits a bunch of stuff. Only problem is that it fits a select few kayaks with HUGE tank wells
long milk crate with lid (another crate trimmed)
28 minutes about fishing crates and I watched every second. Never thought I’d be at this point in my life.
Hahaha no lies detected
What have we done!!!
This!
10 minutes in with the full intension of finishing every second
Same true meaning of happiness
You guys have awesome chemistry. Just makes watching more entertaining.
🙌
I have the Wilderness systems crate and I actually use it on my kayak (oldtown 106) and in my Ice fishing sled. It's perfect for my needs.
Yak gadget has a pretty cool crate worth looking at
Milk crate mafia! I like open top and dont stand rods up due to all the river fishing with overhangs.
There ya have it
Still rocking a XL milk crate, up to 10 rods, visi pole, extra plastics bag, drag rope, yeti soft side cooler, and 5 of the small Plano bags. In a Bigwater Pdl 132
This is the video I needed I’m still trying to decide between the the Yak and Flambeau

I have a Flambeau which i got off marketplace for $30 basically brand new. Very happy with it.

Hmmmm, I don't have one yet....still thinking of DIY option I can put my battery box in
I’d go tub for something like that or a battery box
Finally someone tackles the hard hitting questions

I have 2 different sizes milk crates. Depending on how many rods I'm going to be taking.

Fair enough
Nothing like showing up with $500+ combos and a milk crate on the back of the yak
Power move
Spend money where you need, save it elsewhere
Another great video guys! Thanks for sharing!

Flambeau crate is absolutely great! Just replace original rod holders that come with it with two 3-rod holders racks
It definitely looks amazing
Great Video! You guys keep in interested and informative! Thanks for sharing!

If you're ever in Missouri yall are welcome to try out my wilderness systems krate I love it!
🙌
Merry Christmas to you guys & your families!
You too!
Great video!!!💪🏽

a 3d rectangle is a cuboid. you're welcome nerds! 🤓
Surprised no one mentioned or uses the plano soft crate. I like all the side top pouches. Lots of room
Ive used it and a cabelas version, just wasn’t a fan long term. Prefer hard crates.
Milk crate with a back pack in it.
Double packed up!
Does the BlackPak hold water in the bottom without the lid?
It’ll leak out eventually but some can sit
i just picked up one of the yakattack crates for 120 bucks on sale! this vid sold me on it lol
Having trays on the lid is just asking to dump all your lures in the lake imo😂
Which trays? The ones we talked about have secure lids
@aaanglers Yeah, with my luck, I'll forget to latch it up. Next thing you know, I'm grabbing a drink, and there goes my tackle, 😆
make your own. save ton of money and just as good
Those glasses are doing something for me 😂😊 uh, good video too
The Flambeau without the lid will hold 5 3700 boxes on their side.
Perfect!
YakAttack Blackpak or nothing! :D at 180$ if you get a 16x16 you get 6 rod holders at 25$ each...
imagine if Buzbe made a kayak crate
🤯

Haha cube vs box
No one ever talks about the Plano V crate and Ive been rocking it for years. I have to keep telling myself I don't need a blackpak.
We considered including it. No offense to you, we just don’t see the value in it.
did this grown man say really say "what the fart"
I said what I said
Get the Wilderness systems crate! Period, end of story.
It’s NOT a cube as a cube has square faces on all sides, not rectangular.
It is a right rectangular prism, or more generally a rectangular cuboid.
Be me: use a watertight seal two drawers toolbox
All overpriced and unnecessary, unless maybe your fishing a tournament. If I know a body of water well I need like one small tackle box and few soft plastics I can just keep in front of me
