    Love the muffin tray idea!! My new rescue is a tough cookie when it comes to figuring out high value treats. This is going to help a lot. Can’t wait to try it!

    Oh my gosh FINALLY i understand high vs low value treats. I feel sort of dumb because it makes perfect sense. The muffin tin idea is brilliant.

    Thanks for these videos!! Just adopted my own rescue dog the other day. He doesn’t like the treats I bought and seems to prefer when I bribe him with his kibble instead lol. I’ll have to start experimenting when I begin proper training (outside the first week of “this is your name” and “good job going potty outside” types of training)

      Sounds like you're on the right track! The cool part is that your relationship with him overtime and as he becomes more comfortable in his new home, he may respond to "lower value" food differently than before. Keep us posted on your new pup!

    Thank you thank you! I am on my second rescue dog (my first one I had to put down a month ago after having her less than two years. She was a senior dog, developed cancer.) and your tips are so helpful for the second dog which is a younger dog and also a male and I haven’t had to deal with either in many years. The last part of your video with the tennis balls in a muffin tin made me laugh out loud. I am going to try that but just your tips to find out what is considered a high value treat is really going to be helpful with this dog. He’s only on his second day but finding your videos is really going to help us make his transition to our home a success.

      Sorry to hear about your loss @Denise. Chester LOVED filming the muffin tin part of the video. He would take his food that way every day if we let him! 😂

    Help, I have a rescued 3 year old German Shepard. When it is feeding time he will jump up on me and always knocks the bowl out of my hands. How can I calm this behavior? When he is on his hind legs he is as tall as me.

      Oh wow! He sounds like a handful! Feeding time can be super exciting, and you've seen the result of that excitement! I'd consider ditching the bowl and trying a puzzle feeder (with supervision!) Check this out: th-cam.com/video/G8kEKjf-WsM/w-d-xo.html While you're prepping the food or toy, I'd have him in a different room to give you time and focus to get his food. Then having the bowl or puzzle toy on the ground before you let him out. Then he gets excited at the food, not at you!

    What kind of lunch meat is safe ? And what type of cheese

    • @TheKindCanine
      @TheKindCanine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Belern - always best to check with your vet first, but we use lunch meat like ham and turkey - all nitrate free. We use string cheese (lite is a good option here to limit the fat) and blocks of cheddar cheese. Since the cheese is high in fat and calories, we only use it sparingly!
