FX MK2 or M3? | Groups at 175 Yards | No Tricks | Long Range Airgun

  • The FX M3 shooting groups at 175 yards, with continuous camera roll/no editing out poor shots. No tricks, just shooting and the gun does what it does. Pellets and slugs, this is a long range airgun if ever there was one. Keith flips tunes back and forth, shares his tunes...and his thoughts on whether or not it is worth it to switch to the M3. It's all laid out here in black and white, with no question about the guns performance. If you have been wondering......look no further. Of all the ambassadors to the sport you guys check every box! I sincerely hope that you are blessed with as much or more reward for your efforts. In the presentation of the M3 platform you clearly enlightened us on the "real" applications toward preference and delivered tangible results in a graphic way. The button head bolt as a focal point is genius, gives reference for the whole array of shots. The "candid" demeanor is respectful, clear, and as I've said before, like listening to my father (in a good way). I appreciate how thoughtfully portrayed this was in that you addressed the "naysayer" components artfully and respectfully. Unfortunate that you had to spend any time on it, but far better to step around that cow shit than in it.

Do you guys still like the maverick? I’ve had mine for for a month and it is inconsistent going from slugs on high power down to power level 4 or 5 to shoot 33.95 jsb’s at 880. It won’t hold a consistent speed even after taking 5-10 shots after changing the setting. I sent it in to fx USA twice now, first time they couldn’t figure out why it was doing what it was doing. Hopefully I get it back this time and it is consistent. I’m hoping the regulator upgrade in the m3 will solve the issues I’m having with my mav. Looking forward to my m3 arriving, very hard to be patient after watching this vid. Lol Lots of great info guys, really appreciate what you guys do!

M3 no doubt has advantages but I still don’t see the M3 is significantly better than the MK2 when it comes to versatility. My MK2 can be tuned up and down in a repeatable fashion to many ammo, I usually have mine tune for 1 pellet and 2-3 slugs. Ernest’s carbon liner made this possible and I’m literally just dialing for speed with so many good settings to choose from. In fact I usually shoot the same slugs at 2 different speeds for additional versatility.
Regardless, thanks for another fantastic video. Thanks to you I skipped the M3 and bought a crown instead.

Got my mk2 shooting 27 grain slugs really well, was thinking about keeping the mk2 but tuning it for pellets (.22 hades) Then was thinking about getting a mk3 for heavy slugs, also in .22. That way I don’t need to muck about with different tuning. I.E. having to change reg pressure all the time 🤔. 🤷‍♂️.

to be considered: Precisión (or the lack there off) is also caused by the barrel harmonics. Fx uses thin wall barrel. liners that are very sensitive to the harmonics sinus wave. This is the reason why their liners are tensioned and supported to reduce the height of the sinus wave (=amplitude) conventional heavy wall barrel would (almost) eliminate or greatly reduce the effect of the harmonics due to its own inertia. A heavy wall precision barrel is sufficient "robust" enough to be accurate without additional tuning.
    In other words..
Due to the thin wall barrel liner, barrel tuning becomes a must. Whereas for a heavy precision barrel accuracy is an intrinsical part as long as the twist rate chosen suits the projectile. For slugs is a different twist rate required than for pellets...
The fx thin wall barrel liners are easy and cheap to produce.... but must be separately tuned for each pellet or slug.
Heavy wall precision barrels are rather expensive to produce but very accurate when the twist rates are suitable for the projectiles to shoot with.
Personally I prefer a heavy weight precision barrel in combination with the matching projectiles for hunting since it is a no brainer.
Example : edgun matador in cal. 30..... or the agt vulcan 2 in
30.....power and accuracy are there for both guns.
the fx m3 must be carefully tuned to the projectiles to get the accuracy required. Once this is done, power and accuracy are there.
The fx impact is rather delicate and must be specifically tuned for the power level and projectile weight, whereas the edgun matador/vulcan is always accurate and powerfull enough for hunting even without meticulous tuning
I am the heavy wall precision barrel type of person. If you like to to tune your thin wall barrel to the max and shoot on a bench rest... The fx system may be more suitable for you.
Do what you like guys.. That's what shooting is all about.

    • @68Whiskey
      @68Whiskey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You clearly understand what you are talking about. All points are valid. I prefer the thin wall to get length and save weight. And now the m3 quick tune makes tuning simple so no big deal there. Im happy there is a gun for everyone

Awesome shooting my friend. You're shooting real-time and your rhythm is excellent. I kept thinking if I shot this vid there would be a lot more time between shots and listening to me breathing.
I've just ordered a Mk 3 and started the waiting process. Was unaware to this point that both pellets and slugs could be ran through the same barrel. Had been led to understand that slugs liked slug barrels and pellets liked the STX. What barrel are you shooting and are there any internal mods like the slug kit or is this just a stock Mk3. Trying to get an idea of how to set up the new gun. Would love to sling both from the same barrel.
Thanks again for the great vid and nice shooting👍

Thanks brother. Im shooting a 1:22 twist superior liner. And i have the two hammer spring spacers installed for power but thats it on modifications internally. As you can see it liked the slugs and pellets quite a bit !

Downright Sick Brother! Better groups at 175yds than most can do w/ a powder burner... Whats your luck been with Nielsen slugs? I recall a vid of you guys using them a while back, but you seem to launch FX Hybrids exclusively now. Keep up the great work! 👍

    • @68Whiskey

Thanks man! Nsa makes nice slugs nothing against them at all. We are lucky enough to get hybrids provided for us because we would go broke buying all the slugs with how much we shoot. I feel like the hybrids pop hardes on impact that nielsens do, but the nsa come in so many different weights you may find one thats magic in your gun.
