Do not let people fool you. If you do not get a message from the handler saying, “You’re doing a good job controlling Alatreon’s power!”, then you will always die from the first supernova. I have beaten him and do not let people downplay this guy. He is a tough one, but beatable. Capcom makes us use a team, but punishes us for using a team at the same time. Good luck hunters. This is not easy.
Tbh og Alatreon is much harder (harder as in takes more time cause the dude keeps flying out of reach to call an icestorm), this one is a fun solo tho, the attacks are pretty easy to dodge so it’s a fun fight all the way until the end
it punishes you for bringing an ill equiped team, for instance; you could bring 4 fully upgraded Safi Shatterblade users to the fight with 1500 Def and 20 in all resistances, but if Blast doesn't do nothing to the Nova, then they're no more effective then a single Ice Element user doing it solo also I find it amusing that with the high amount of Dragon present in Alatreon Weapons, they are ironically the best weapons to shut down Alatreon's Nova if you can't break the horns reliably and so cart on the 2nd Nova (due to Ice no longer being effective against Ice Active) I for one am gonna stubbornly bring my Dark Claw "Demise" to literally every fight that I can!

Everyone saying the same thing here let me clarify. No you do NOT hide behind the ice pillars to survive the nova. You have to HAVE TO JUST DEAL A CRAP TON OF ELEMENTAL DAMAGE TO HIM TO MINIMIZE ITS DAMAGE
@@boocebung4177 Exactly, it's a raid mechanic. Final Fantasy XIV has those in their raids and it works perfectly. Destiny 1 and 2 even has enraged mechanics but at least warns the player before you're about to get destroyed
@@thomasgonzales3719 technically any, but it's harder to pass the check without hitting it with whatever it's currently weak to and it's immune to fire or ice depending on phase. I think dragon is always at least neutral though.
I have a bit of a theory about the reason behind Alatreon's elemental power and why breaking the horns weakens it: You know how if you shine visible light through a prism in the right way, it shows a rainbow? I'd say that the horns act like a prism, except for Dragon element energy instead of light. This might be because Dragon element is the entire elemental spectrum - Fire, Water, Ice and Thunder - together, just as visible light is all of the colors of the rainbow merged together. So this means Alatreon really only has one element in its body - Dragon element. Breaking the horns reduces Alatreon's ability to split the Dragon energy into the individual elements, just as cracking a prism reduces its ability to split light. Dealing the right elemental damage (Ice in Fire-Active, Fire in Ice-Active) and also stresses and weakens it enough so that Eschaton Judgement doesn't obliterate you.
The assignment and the event quest are the exact same thing. In the first event quest, Alatreon starts in Fire Active and in the other one he starts in Ice Active.
@@vbi9116 No, in the assignment and the event quest The evening Star, he will start in Fire Active and in the event quest Dawn of the death Star, he will start in Ice Active. He will change between Fire and Ice active after Escaton Judgment unless you break his horn while he's in Dragon Active.
What if Alatreon came to the new world because of Safi'jiiva, and Safi's ability to lure elder dragons extends to even Black Dragons? If this is the case, Safi'jiiva and Xeno'jiiva are a huge problem for the commission.

I would agree with you, but there's one small problem: It's reproductive capabilities. It's confirmed that those spikes covering both ruiner, and regular nergi have the capacity to develop into new nergigante. All nergigante are genetically identical to one another. This is both a strength and a weakness. On one hand, This means that all nergigante will be just as strong as their parent, ensuring that there won't be any weaker offspring (And this is good, as it's supposed to bring balance to the ecosystem, if it's not strong enough, it can't restore balance.) But it's also a weakness. Let me tell you about the Irish Great Famine. (And I'm going to make my biology teacher proud. This one's for you, Mrs Randolph) The Irish Great Famine was a period of mass starvation, and disease in Ireland from 1845 to 1849. during the famine, about one million people died and a million more emigrated, causing Ireland's population to fall by between 20% and 25%. You may be asking yourself, "Why did this happen?" Well I'll explain. The approximated cause was a potato blight, and the majority of all the potatoes were produced asexually. Because they were essentially clones, this meant that all of them shared the vulnerability to the blight. (Think about it like how vampires have a shared weakness to sunlight, and how werewolves have a shared weakness to silver bullets.) If they were produced from the ol' pistil and stamen, then they would have had a higher chance of having offspring which were resistant to the blight. Now how does this relate to nergigante and how it may or may not be able to defeat Safi'jiiva? Well like I said earlier, Nergigante essentially reproduced through budding, and each nergigante is genetically identical to one another. This means that they all share the same limits, every ruiner has the same limit, and every regular one has the same limit. Evolution is caused by a factor (A predator, a change in the enviorment, a disease, etc.) Thanks to genetic variation, some of the organisms are able to survive, reproduce, and pass their genes down to the next generation. Now lets take this to the Nergigante species, because they are all genetically identical, this means that there is no genetic variation, if there's a change in the ecosystem, there won't be any differences between them, thus the species would go extinct if such a change occured. If Safi'jiiva were this change, and even the strongest ruiner fought it, if the ruiner nergigante failed, then how could any other nergigante defeat it? It couldn't even kill Shara Ishvalda on it's own, and Shara was weakened when it was killed. Safi can regenerate by tapping into the bioenergy of the ecosystem, so to put it simply, it can heal itself. Ruiner may be able to put up a good fight, but Safi can regenerate, and thus, the Eater of Elders, would be consumed by the Red Dragon. Thank you coming to my TED Talk
Helped a good or lucky noobs in special assignments, he's using kjarr decay while me and the rest with dark claw demise. Done in low 10 and Alatreon didn't even have a chance for second escaton lol.

Apparently, all the records pertaining to Alatreon were burned away by the time of world. Plus either way, common sense was never the Monster Hunter way, so even if they DID know that little tidbit, they may well outright dismiss it in thinking something else is amiss.... witch is also how things tend to happen in this series.
I think apart from Fatalis, whom I not solo beat yet, this guy was the hardest solo kill to pull off yet. It was such an adrenaline rush to finally down him for good. I think I spend more time hunting him than beating the whole story.
@@getterzth6957 They ruined it. It does a shit that almost instantly kills you when it changed its element. I called it the "BS Nova". I remember how Alatreon was back in MHP3rd, and it was simply difficult, but at least you could solo it. This one? Not even similar to the old version. They fucking ruined it. I also tried the elemental attacks to weaken its nova without results. They have to nerf it ASAP. Even Extreme Behemoth gives you the easy way to avoid its Ecliptic Meteor, why they made farcasters impossible to use FOR THE ENTIRE HUNT this time? Why Alatreon's ultimate move kills you with the same speed as a frag in a cod game? It doesn't make any sense AT ALL.
This video makes me so happy because it shows that A: you can do it with Hammer and B: you can do it on Xbox Also C: 16:22 is foreshadowing Fatalis. I just know it.

Nice run! It took around 7-8 attempts for me to solo him with a LBG and now I’m working on a solo run with a greatsword. I think they made him pretty fun to fight although it’s a little tricky trying to make sure the dps check is met with certain weapons. Also, astera jerky and health booster are your best friends in this fight.
Dan Oliver yea, a good majority of his moves can be easily dodged by simply moving a little to the side and his flashy moves are just to scare you into playing more passive imo.
Dan Oliver well for my first completion, I managed to beat him with his own LBG.( I got enough parts with Palico plunderang) It’s able to rapid fire every element so I was able to cover all every elements if need be. As for best elemental melee weapon to solo him, I’m not sure yet as I’m still trying out different elements to find one that can efficiently spit out dps regardless of his form.
Its a middle ground between ice & fire Doesn't look like water to me, its just alatreon spits that reacts depending on alatreon elemental Tldr, its his poison
Imagine an elder dragon that changes its biological weaponry and appearance based off what would be easier to combat the hunter's weapon choice? For example like if you choose hammer the monster becomes more streamlined and assumes a Bow and Arrow form where it pelts you from a distance. That would be an epic boss fight to say the least

It makes no sense why alatreon is in the new world I mean its the safi'jiiva arena but why is alatreon in it it's like you kill safi'jiiva and you go back to his arena and alatreon show up and says oye mate you wanna fight
Something I’ve learned is to try and save temporal mantle till the dragon active state because that’s the only time his horns are breakable so that’s when you really need him on the ground for easier access to dem horns
I know I'm late to reply here but Rocksteady mantle is amazing when it comes to clutch clawing in my experiences. The only moves you need to watch out for is the Dragon Elemental headbutts if you're near the wings, forelegs, or head. Otherwise go ham.
I've clutch clawed him a few times, but more often than not he immediately goes all LIGHTING!! on me and knocks me off! or charges right as I'm slinger bursting!

Acho que "truque" para vencer é o seguinte: toda equipe com manto da vitalidade + reforço de vida, para quando ele usar aquele ataque poderoso, e dois usuários da equipe como suporte. Outra maneira, a equipe toda com set da safii + equipados com arma elementais, sem ser as de status, e um cara de suporte. Infelizmente, falta apenas 1 componente para eu fazer o set completo da Alatreon ;--;
MH "Veterans" - World/Iceborne is so easy compared to the older games, they ruined the game by making it easier. Also MH "Veterans" - wtf World/Iceborne Alatreon is so difficult compared to the older games with bullshit "1 shot" mechanic etc.
World/Iceborne is my first Monster Hunter so I don't really know much about the older games but Alatreon being a black dragon should be stronger and a lot more difficult than other monsters. I think without his "gimmicky bullshit" Alatreon would be just some normal elder dragon.

The guy in the vid doesn't have elemental damage, while we are 4 guys blasting our fire\thundr\ice\dragon combos on his fucking head, destroying his horns. But he still nuke us. Overall, we have got better stats of the guy in the vid
You just need to learn that Capcom isn’t going to hold your hand through every part of MHW and just get better. I was able to solo this beast through sheer skill. If you’re complaining that it’s too much damage, when the work around for it is by you doing enough damage to him, then you simply aren’t good enough to fight him 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Been at this for 7 hours now 😂 haven't beat it once, came close by a two man strategy got both its horns broke and nearly dead, taking as much advantage as possible from wall bang opportunities, and the single sleep I can get off on it, but failed again. It's 8am for me now so we're taking a break then coming back to it 😂 Got enough materials to craft the glaive & upgrade the glaive, full palico set & 2 pieces from both alpha and beta armour sets, as well as the majority of the pieces for the rest, All in all for failing everytime that's what I'd call a decent haul xD
For those of you who need help here's the strategy how me and my team (randoms) beat him First strategy - 2 Ice DPS, 1 healer, and 1 bowgun status build The key here is for the 2 ice DPS to weaken his judgement, because he starts with "fire active" and is weakest to ice. With this team you HAVE to break the horns 2 time, because by breaking the horn he wont change to "ice active" after the judgement (where ice damage is useless). To break the horns, use clutch claw to slam into the wall 2 times and let the bowgunner sleep and para him. By doing this you will survive for a long time. Second strategy - 2 Ice DPS and 2 fire DPS Same with the first one, the 2 ice DPS weakens the judgement. But this time you dont have to break the horns, after the judgement he will turn into "ice active" and the 2 fire DPS will weaken his judgement. This is a very fun and challenging fight (unlike behemoth that is very challenging yet is more of an annoyance) I am glad capcom designed alatreon this way to signify his black dragon status, also this fight made people strategize rather than UNGA BUNGA hit until it dies. Finally the online session feels like the old MH where you meet, discuss, and hunt. Rather than shooting SOS flare hoping the next random is a godlike speedrunner.
No, you just have to break him horns once in order to stop him from changing his element. You can break the horns a second time after he goes into dragon mode again later.
2:07 "if that power isn't contained, it could be the end of us all" as much as I love the game, this "if you dont kill this thing we're all gonna die"-trope is getting old REALLY fast in mhw. It feels as if they're saying that to every single monster you face in the game and it just gets upright annoying early
And then you have to consider that you killed multiple monsters, where they said that they could end the world, those being Xenojiiva, Safijiiva, Alatreon (twice) and managed to kill Fatalis, a monster that couldn't even be defeated by an entire country and instead of getting the title of a legend or a living god, they just say stuff like: "You did a great job"

I have a bit of a theory about the reason behind Alatreon's elemental power and why breaking the horns weakens it:
You know how if you shine visible light through a prism in the right way, it shows a rainbow? I'd say that the horns act like a prism, except for Dragon element energy instead of light. This might be because Dragon element is the entire elemental spectrum - Fire, Water, Ice and Thunder - together, just as visible light is all of the colors of the rainbow merged together. So this means Alatreon really only has one element in its body - Dragon element.
Breaking the horns reduces Alatreon's ability to split the Dragon energy into the individual elements, just as cracking a prism reduces its ability to split light. Dealing the right elemental damage (Ice in Fire-Active, Fire in Ice-Active) and also stresses and weakens it enough so that Eschaton Judgement doesn't obliterate you.
This is the special assigment quest. There are also the event quests of Alatreon.
The assignment and the event quest are the exact same thing.
In the first event quest, Alatreon starts in Fire Active and in the other one he starts in Ice Active.

I would agree with you, but there's one small problem: It's reproductive capabilities. It's confirmed that those spikes covering both ruiner, and regular nergi have the capacity to develop into new nergigante. All nergigante are genetically identical to one another. This is both a strength and a weakness. On one hand, This means that all nergigante will be just as strong as their parent, ensuring that there won't be any weaker offspring (And this is good, as it's supposed to bring balance to the ecosystem, if it's not strong enough, it can't restore balance.) But it's also a weakness. Let me tell you about the Irish Great Famine. (And I'm going to make my biology teacher proud. This one's for you, Mrs Randolph) The Irish Great Famine was a period of mass starvation, and disease in Ireland from 1845 to 1849. during the famine, about one million people died and a million more emigrated, causing Ireland's population to fall by between 20% and 25%. Evolution is caused by a factor (A predator, a change in the enviorment, a disease, etc.) Thanks to genetic variation, some of the organisms are able to survive, reproduce, and pass their genes down to the next generation. Now lets take this to the Nergigante species, because they are all genetically identical, this means that there is no genetic variation, if there's a change in the ecosystem, there won't be any differences between them, thus the species would go extinct if such a change occured. If Safi'jiiva were this change, and even the strongest ruiner fought it, if the ruiner nergigante failed, then how could any other nergigante defeat it? It couldn't even kill Shara Ishvalda on it's own, and Shara was weakened when it was killed. Safi can regenerate by tapping into the bioenergy of the ecosystem, so to put it simply, it can heal itself. Ruiner may be able to put up a good fight, but Safi can regenerate, and thus, the Eater of Elders, would be consumed by the Red Dragon.

Plus either way, common sense was never the Monster Hunter way, so even if they DID know that little tidbit, they may well outright dismiss it in thinking something else is amiss.... witch is also how things tend to happen in this series.

I think apart from Fatalis, whom I not solo beat yet, this guy was the hardest solo kill to pull off yet. It was such an adrenaline rush to finally down him for good. I think I spend more time hunting him than beating the whole story.

I remember how Alatreon was back in MHP3rd, and it was simply difficult, but at least you could solo it. This one? Not even similar to the old version. They fucking ruined it. I also tried the elemental attacks to weaken its nova without results. They have to nerf it ASAP.
Even Extreme Behemoth gives you the easy way to avoid its Ecliptic Meteor, why they made farcasters impossible to use FOR THE ENTIRE HUNT this time? Why Alatreon's ultimate move kills you with the same speed as a frag in a cod game? It doesn't make any sense AT ALL.
I tried it 3 times and it killed me each time with that bullshot nova!

Nice run! It took around 7-8 attempts for me to solo him with a LBG and now I’m working on a solo run with a greatsword.
I think they made him pretty fun to fight although it’s a little tricky trying to make sure the dps check is met with certain weapons. Also, astera jerky and health booster are your best friends in this fight.

What's the best element and weapon to meet the dps check?
Dan Oliver well for my first completion, I managed to beat him with his own LBG.( I got enough parts with Palico plunderang) It’s able to rapid fire every element so I was able to cover all every elements if need be. As for best elemental melee weapon to solo him, I’m not sure yet as I’m still trying out different elements to find one that can efficiently spit out dps regardless of his form.

Imagine an elder dragon that changes its biological weaponry and appearance based off what would be easier to combat the hunter's weapon choice? For example like if you choose hammer the monster becomes more streamlined and assumes a Bow and Arrow form where it pelts you from a distance. That would be an epic boss fight to say the least

Looks like Clutch Clawing him is dang near impossible.
Something I’ve learned is to try and save temporal mantle till the dragon active state because that’s the only time his horns are breakable so that’s when you really need him on the ground for easier access to dem horns
I know I'm late to reply here but Rocksteady mantle is amazing when it comes to clutch clawing in my experiences. The only moves you need to watch out for is the Dragon Elemental headbutts if you're near the wings, forelegs, or head. Otherwise go ham.
I've clutch clawed him a few times, but more often than not he immediately goes all LIGHTING!! on me and knocks me off! or charges right as I'm slinger bursting!

Outra maneira, a equipe toda com set da safii + equipados com arma elementais, sem ser as de status, e um cara de suporte. World/Iceborne is my first Monster Hunter so I don't really know much about the older games but Alatreon being a black dragon should be stronger and a lot more difficult than other monsters. I think without his "gimmicky bullshit" Alatreon would be just some normal elder dragon.

You need to do significant elemental dmg to him, if the ult is powerful then he's not damaged enough. And healing helps.

Been at this for 7 hours now 😂 haven't beat it once, came close by a two man strategy got both its horns broke and nearly dead, taking as much advantage as possible from wall bang opportunities, and the single sleep I can get off on it, but failed again. It's 8am for me now so we're taking a break then coming back to it 😂
Got enough materials to craft the glaive & upgrade the glaive, full palico set & 2 pieces from both alpha and beta armour sets, as well as the majority of the pieces for the rest, All in all for failing everytime that's what I'd call a decent haul xD

For those of you who need help here's the strategy how me and my team (randoms) beat him
First strategy - 2 Ice DPS, 1 healer, and 1 bowgun status build
The key here is for the 2 ice DPS to weaken his judgement, because he starts with "fire active" and is weakest to ice. With this team you HAVE to break the horns 2 time, because by breaking the horn he wont change to "ice active" after the judgement (where ice damage is useless).
To break the horns, use clutch claw to slam into the wall 2 times and let the bowgunner sleep and para him.
By doing this you will survive for a long time.
Second strategy - 2 Ice DPS and 2 fire DPS
Same with the first one, the 2 ice DPS weakens the judgement. But this time you dont have to break the horns, after the judgement he will turn into "ice active" and the 2 fire DPS will weaken his judgement.
This is a very fun and challenging fight (unlike behemoth that is very challenging yet is more of an annoyance)
I am glad capcom designed alatreon this way to signify his black dragon status, also this fight made people strategize rather than UNGA BUNGA hit until it dies. Finally the online session feels like the old MH where you meet, discuss, and hunt. Rather than shooting SOS flare hoping the next random is a godlike speedrunner.

No, you just have to break him horns once in order to stop him from changing his element. You can break the horns a second time after he goes into dragon mode again later.

as much as I love the game, this "if you dont kill this thing we're all gonna die"-trope is getting old REALLY fast in mhw. It feels as if they're saying that to every single monster you face in the game and it just gets upright annoying early
And then you have to consider that you killed multiple monsters, where they said that they could end the world, those being Xenojiiva, Safijiiva, Alatreon (twice) and managed to kill Fatalis, a monster that couldn't even be defeated by an entire country and instead of getting the title of a legend or a living god, they just say stuff like: "You did a great job"
3years late but using a blast weapon on an alatreon to beat it is wild.
