- This time we take an MV Agusta Dragster 800RR for a ride along to discover what MV Agusta is all about. We've heard the stories, we know about the reliability issues, however, what draws people to this brand? In this video we find that passion and we evoke that emotion that draws riders to the MV Agusta brand despite its shortcomings. The Italians have their way of adding magic to machinery which invokes a sense of emotion other bikes simply cannot match. Enjoy the video everyone.

Glad to see you got a new bike. I'm actually shopping around for a MV Agusta Superveloce 800 to go with my R Nine T Racer. Gotta get that collection game up lol
This is actually not my bike. This is a very close friend’s bike I was tasked with servicing and repairing some of the things wrong with it. Like most things, as long as you know what you are getting into, I think you’ll enjoy the MV ownership experience. Like your R Nine T, you don’t see a lot of Superveloce’s around.
One of my dream bikes but became a bit impractical because of the lack of support in South Africa. Things are changing now with KTM buying MV Augusta. Might just look for one. The spoked wheels and the styling just did it for me. Chef's kiss.
I believe so as well. KTM leading the marketing, service, and part supply is a great way to grow the MV brand. I look at it as MV can still remain very Italian, but with less of the headaches. Kind of like what Ducati has done in the past 10 years or so. Still very Italian and very Ducati, but not near the headaches of part supply/service as MV and even Aprilia.
I did a demo day of the Triumph STR 765 and they had the Dragster too. Man, they fired up the Agusta and it sounded like a rattle can moped. I'm sure an exhaust would change things but a bike at that price point, no way. They are beautiful bikes no denying that. Just so many nakeds in this category for same or cheaper. For reference I have a 2017 Triumph Speed Triple R 1050. Truly an awesome bike minus the headlight, ha.
@jimnorton2570 if you are even considering an MV then price point isn’t a deciding factor in your purchase. Triumph makes some awesome motorcycles and are overall a lot more reliable than an MV. However, an MV is just in another category far and away from any of the Triumphs. Glad you are enjoying your 1050, triumph makes a solid product.
Kinda forgetting about the speed/street triple… That said… that MV is the baddest looking bike on the planet! Great video!
Speed/street triple is a good one. Just not really in the same category as MV, Ducati, Aprilia, and even BMW. Speed/Street triple is pretty mundane compared to the other options I just mentioned.
Nice bike for sure!
My Moto Guzzi also has the ‘on off’ indicators; not a big deal but something else you sometimes have to think about while riding.
The Triumphs are also clutch in start only, which I always found a bit annoying.
Agree. Not a big deal really but just have to get used to it. Since this is an MV, im just glad the indicator works. 😂.
Didn’t know that about triumphs, thank you for the info.
oh man that aftermarket numplate spoil backlight look, stock is best
I agree honestly. This tail tidy is ugly.
How does the ride compare with the XSR 900?
The XSR definitely rides better. A lot more composed and comfortable for everyday riding. However, the MV is a lot more nimble. Handling in the MV is significantly better than the XSR.
I have the same rear brake problem on my 2019 Dragster 800rr, how did you fix the problem? thanks!
There is a service bulletin that covers this. You should be able to find it pretty easily using whatever internet search engine you normally use. You actually have to bleed the rear brake from the ABS block and remove the rear caliper from the bracket to do the final bleed.
Thank you!
Rear brake is shitty on all of the 3 cyl MVs and theres no known fix but the forums have theorized that its tge reservoir location and moving has helped for some owners. Also, these pre-facelift (or any euro 3, silver engine for the most part, 3 cyl mvs) ones are kinda sketch between the starter clutch going bad frequently and having valve drops that grenade the engine (more common on the f3 and 675 brutale but its been reported on all but the turismo veloce iirc). Still an absolutely wicked machine but id shell out more for a newer one to avoid these rather drastic reliability problems.
Appreciate the info. Did a little research on that rear brake issue and was able to find the TSB for the rear brake bleed. Makes sense if it’s the reservoir since it’s so low in the system, but who knows. Read on some forums guys would relocate the reservoir but still get air in the system after a while. MV’s going to MV I guess.
Again appreciate the information you’ve been able to provide.
@ridewithKY np, I did a lot of research because I was in the market for one and an MV of some sort was the front runner but unfortunately I had none of the 750 models or the later 3 cyl models available near me, just the euro 3 models so I ended up on a monster lol. I still do plan on picking one up as a graduation gift to myself in a couple of years so I've still had an eye on the market and the f4 spr, superveloce and f3 675 are all front runners but it'll just come down to availability + insurance costs when the time comes haha
Ending up on a monster is not so bad. Hope when the time comes you do end up on an MV. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
100mph in residence area, and you think that 's so cool ??
Cooler than complaining on the internet.
