In all my 79 years I have never owned a .22 magnum revolver - until today. Since I live in CA, although I own it and it's paid for, I have to wait 10 days to pick it up. Thanks for the most excellent review. It has made me even more anxious to shoot it.
I was sold on the Ruger 22 magnum long before i watched this video but you sir , do an excellent job of making me want one even more . Thank you for what you do 🙂
They are nice. I have one in 38/357. Great gun and very carryable(neat word). I've shot 2 coyotes with 357 revolvers but never with a 3 in. barrel...yet! It's a fun can roller at 75 yards.
I’ve been wanting the .22LR version forever, but at this point any version would do. Great video as usual, stay warm! The sun finally came out in Texas.
I got one and I love it. I haul it around whenever I'm mowing or working outside. 8 rounds, accurate - the only thing I'd change is I'd get the hammer version.
I've never felt you were being negative in your reviews, the real world isn't perfect. Pointing out details that some consider a "con" could be a "pro" to someone else. Keep up the great work!
As usual, a fair and honest review, that your viewers can relate to. A gun is what it is. Thank you for showing the real world pros and cons of the firearms that you feature...
I bought the same gun after watching your first video on this , great follow-up video very detailed on your likes and dislikes . Great marksmanship by the way 👍👍
Always a great review ! You’re not negative at all , purely whole hearted and sincere about your opinions. Keep up the good work ! I like seeing videos like this out there in the sleet and snow , just a display of reality in elements that are aren’t always idealistic for outdoors enthusiasts. Those rugged Rugers can handle it too !
There is nothing like shooting in the cold and snow. Revolvers love it as it keeps their barrels cool longer. Neat little gun to have. I had one in .38 with the short barrel but now have the three inch barrel. You can carry these revolvers all day long everywhere without trouble and they will handle any trouble that comes your way.
I am a big fan of the .22 magnum cartridge. I bought a Ruger Single Six with a 6.5 inch barrel 40 years ago, and carried it a lot in the Mojave desert and the Sierra Nevada mountains. One of the things I like about it is the flat trajectory, making it relatively easy to make hits at a very long range. It is too long to use for concealed carry. In recent years I tried a Ruger LCRx for concealed carry, but because of arthritis in my trigger finger, it is very difficult for me to use double action. I also find the trigger to have a sharp edge and the hammer spur to be relatively small, so it is not very comfortable to shoot single action.
Just wanted to say thank you sir. You have become one of my favorite channels, especially on the rimfires. I currently own a Ruger SP 101 in .357 magnum that I occasionally carry apendix,(its heavy) and a LCRx .38 special that lives in the cup holder of my truck along with a speedloader. Working around my place I carry a Heritge Rough Rider with a 6 inch barrel and .22 wmr rat shot to dispatch various unwanted critters. I also own numerous Ruger rifles, (good quality firearms!). Now comes my complaint, I never knew I needed to replace my Rough Rider until I saw this video! Even with the crappy trigger weight, this thing is a dream! I have always thought that a 3 inch barrel was a perfect length for a yard gun, and in .22wmr it is perfect! So now, I have to find one! Thanks Buffalo, I gotta spend more money! LOL! Keep up the good work and greetings from Arkansas.
I love this gun - I have one, and did a review on my channel last year (although you did a much better job). I do love your style of review, and your flat out honesty! Not to mention the dedication to record this out in the weather like that. Kudos!
Best review channel out there. I would prefer you to point out any little flaws any day! Keep up the good work and thanks for all the great information.
I like your videos! Helpful info. Ive had 4 lcrs but fun, useful videos are hard to come by. You keep makin em and I'll keep watchin. Oh my 22lr LCRX was kinda heavy on the trigger but it has lightened up with use. Thanks Buffalo.
Just bought the 3" LCRx after watching your review of the three 22 WMR cartridges with a different gun. Your review of this gun is honest and spot on. Feed it some Federal Punch and it's a happy camper. I don’t mind it's "only 6". Or the heavy trigger. And i often end up pulling cases out of 38spcl and 357mag wheel guns i own. Heat expands the casing of any cartridge and they stick. Maybe a longer ejector would be good, but I don't care. For me it's a great piece for kit packing, or just target shooting. Love your presentation of the weather at the beginning. Really sets the mood. Fine production and honest reviews!
I always appreciate your honesty, Buffalo. You also have a knack for clarity. Good on ya. I've got the .357 LCRx and enjoy shooting .38 and .38+p through it. Not so much the .357's. Arthritis bites me back when I do that. But I found, just before the freeze we're in, a grip called the "ergo" grip and put that on to see if it might help. I'll let you know how that goes.
@@richarde1355 Well, I thought it might be easier on my arthritic wrist and thumb. I think maybe my hand is too small, though. It seemed to help with the felt recoil at my wrist, but aggravated felt recoil at the base of my thumb. It actually hurt to the point that I used it for three shots and took it off. I sold the gun.
@@richarde1355 Didn't work for me. I have size medium length (glove) fingers and size lg across the knuckles sort of hands with size small thumbs. Plus arthritis in both thumbs and both wrists. If my fingers had been longer, then maybe. But I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Not comfortable.
I just picked up a LCRX 22WMR snub-nose. The only thing I was surprised at is the weight. I thought it would weigh a lot less then my S&W 642 but it's only a little under an ounce; that's with both guns fully loaded. I'm a fan of the 22WMR round. Thanks for the good review. I didn't find anything negative.
Yeah , I thought the same thing, a 4.25” commander length barrel would be a perfect package for a backpacking pistol , giving it a little more versatility yet not going too long on the barrel.
Hahaha! I guess if you remember to tip up and shout “hiya!” when hitting the ejector rod there is no problem. Yet another fine video. You are a hell of a fine shooter!!
Love mine. Only "issue" in the beginning was a really rough crane latch release button. Thumb wore out trying to break it in. A couple hundred reps pushing with a dowel did the trick. Great little gun and a great rundown.
I have never seen a Buffalo Outdoors video that was a "Negative Review" of anything, that I can remember. I would say that, as far as firearms reviews go, Buffalo has consistently been an objective reviewer. Statements like "I like this particular feature/ It fits my hand perfectly/ I don't particularly like this item for the type of shooting that I will be doing/ Some people might find this item is uncomfortable when shooting/ For my use, I would swap this for.../ Overall, it seems to be a well built gun Or not" are what I want to hear when watching a firearm, component, ammunition or accessory review. The facts are stated clearly and the opinions are clearly 'labeled' as opinions. There are no opinions disguised as facts and there are no attempts to hide possibly negative features. Honesty and Integrity are obviously valued highly. On a side note; I have a very good friend who is the Chief of Police in a small, coastal North Carolina town who very much reminds me of Buffalo. He and I went through Basic Law Enforcement Training together and he taught me a lot about being objective and not "jumping to conclusions".
You say true facts and if people’s feelings are hurt that’s on them. Me personally I think it’s a neat pistol tho I haven’t held one but someday I will.

Thanks for the honest review. I have been looking at this 22WMR for a while and going back and forth as on whether I should get one. I love the Ruger LCR line of revolvers. I have three different calibers all in their snub nose versions. They are all very reliable and easy to shoot. I just wish this came as an 8 shot revolver like the 22lr does. Taurus makes an 8 shot 22WMR revolver right now and that's where my indecision is coming from.
Wonderful and refreshing review. I agree on your points. The 22lr needs a recessed crown. I would also pay a few extra bucks for a longer ejection rod on the mag since it could potentially be used for protection.
I've done my share of shooting firearms (prob. 25%of Buffalo's) and My honest findings with reliability of pistol caliber cartridge's is of course .22lr 1or2 out of 500 or so were dud's/ .22wmr 0 out of 500 or so failed to fire/ 9mm 1or2 out of 1000 to 1500 were dud's/ .38spl-.357mag. 1 of 1000 once in a blue moon was a dud/ .45acp 1 dud is all I can remember. Just the honest truth as I've had occur in my last 20 or so year's. I'm referring to quality ammo. No cheap stuff ‼️As long as a Man/Woman Knows their weapon and has confidence in shot placement, I see No problem with .22wmr as a defensive cal. Thanks Buffalo 👍
That is such a good looking gun. I love the LCR series. That is definitely a bit larger than the standard snubbies, but I have noticed the LCR's are a bit larger tham a J-frame or Charter arms- I can usually get away using a LCR holster for some of the others, but not the other way around. I love the sneaky shooting around the ice covered pine trees lol- that steel never saw you coming! I was out shooting a revolver in the snow this weekend as well :) My groups were not as good, but it was 24, windy and snowing. after a little while I couldn't feel my fingers. Thats my excuse anyway. I had 3.25" groups out of my Smith and Wesson 617 with garbage Winchester super x bulk 22 at 10 yards- I was shooting at 10 yards cause the target stand was already stuck in the snow there
Thanks for the GREAT review! I just wish a gun company would offer a reliable 22 magnum revolver with a weight of 20 ounces or less, 10 lb or so double-action trigger, an 8-shot capacity, fiber optic front sight, and a full ejector rod. They're always SO close, yet SO FAR...
The targeted groups was impressive as was the Evergreen tactical pistol course! 😁 I know the groups were only 7 yards but that is inviting me to want to try one. Great video my friend. God bless all here.
I dont know what the heck you guys are talking about i am buying 22 wmr for 18$ a box though i cant find how many rounds are in the box but it looks to be about 50 that is not all that expensive 22lr i am buying a bucket of 1300 rounds for 165$ it equals out to about ten cents around i think wmr are running about 18 cents you guys make it sound like they are charging colt 45 prices
I have a GP100 10 shot 22LR. It has a really heavy trigger pull also. I would really like to have one of those as 22WMR ammo seems to be in stock around here. Thanks. Great video.
This was a very good review and exactly what I needed to hear and to see. I do appreciate it when reviewers will go out into inclement weather to film. I'm in SoCal and our idea of "inclement " is when it is less then 70 degrees.
Yeah, definitely better than nothing to have. I wouldn't want to get shot with a 22mag. Bullet hole is still a bullet hole no matter the size 👍 That is a really good looking handgun!
Thanks for this review Buffalo! I have the Taurus 992 Tracker which, as I'm sure you know, comes with interchangeable cylinders for both 22LR and 22 Magnum. I like having the ability to shoot both of these 22 rounds and only carry one revolver but I'll be looking at the 22 Magnum Ruger revolver because of its polymer/aluminum build, because the Tracker is a much heavier gun. Looking forward to more videos on this fine revolver and that 22 Magnum rifle you bought! Good luck finding ammo though.

@@double-eagle-dave thats more than 9mm though. Kinda overpriced bruh
@@double-eagle-davethat’s 9mm ammo prices 😂 you live in cali or something??? .22 mag and LR are 0.4-0.17 per round typically

It usually rains when you're filming, today it's just ice. Nice shooting, thanks for the dedication.
Great review!👍 I’ve had one for about a year, and my only complaint is the short ejector rod.
I have a GP100 10 shot 22LR. It has a really heavy trigger pull also. I would really like to have one of those as 22WMR ammo seems to be in stock around here. Thanks. Great video.
Great review as usual. Thanks Buffalo !!!!
Appreciate the review, well done as always.
This was a very good review and exactly what I needed to hear and to see. I do appreciate it when reviewers will go out into inclement weather to film. I'm in SoCal and our idea of "inclement " is when it is less then 70 degrees.
Great review Buffalo. Thanks for sharing!
Always an entertaining and honest review 👍🏻
Yeah, definitely better than nothing to have. I wouldn't want to get shot with a 22mag. Bullet hole is still a bullet hole no matter the size 👍 That is a really good looking handgun!
Nice work Buffalo,good shooting,thanks.
I ran 8 kinds of ammo through one and I found the 45 grain Hornady critical defense was the best.
