Thank you. I mention you a lot lol. Often about my accuracy, often mention i'm not quite to your level yet, and people love hearing stuff like that, that I follow other TH-camrs.
Ever since I discovered the .327 Federal Magnum I figured I would never want a 22 Magnum. Now you've made me reconsider the possibilities for that less expensive round.
Most excellent choice sir. The 22 magnum is very underrated. There’s several personal defense rounds on the market now that appear to perform very well.
Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of 22 “Magnum”, especially at civilian, self defense distances. It’ll easily penetrate all human bone, and burrow it’s way into vital, internal organs. Congrats on a very KOOL new revolver. 👍
Congratulations. I love the 22WMR. It is by far my favorite round to shoot. Revolver, semi-auto pistol, semi auto rifle, bolt rifle. Love that cartridge. 4" revolver is great for me.
Buffalo's Outdoors is good people. Honest presentations, data, and also enjoyable to watch. Was glad to hear you mention him and his channel. Its also why I also watch this channel. I get presented with some facts and data and I get to make a decision based on my own needs and circumstances. I always appreciate your videos Sam.
Congrats, I absolutely love my S&W 351 pd. I got the Federal Punch on my list now after Buffalo Outdoors video. I'm adding it to my Carry Permit out here in California.
Love the video. Picked up same LCRX last summer and been lovin it. A big fan of WMR and only shoot CCI, Punch, and Game Shok 50 grain offerings. Very accurate. Also have the LCRX in the 2 inch stubbie version, Major difference the extra inch makes albeit the 3 inch is a much bigger gun overall. Love the adjustable sights on the 3 incher. Gun Sam, all the best and thanks for all your quality no nonsense presentations. "The JJ", SW Penna.
First, I enjoy your videos and thank you. Next, I hope you have better luck with this Ruger revolver than I've had with my Ruger SP 101 .22 LR. It has been in the gunsmith's more than any gun I've ever had. It's had light strikes, timing issues, ejecting issues, ammo sensitivity, and springs replaced twice. It is the last Ruger revolver I'll ever buy.
Im 74 and have back and hip problems from being a ccw for over 40 years and a sw 43c or sw 360 pd are my carry guns now yes i have a safe full of all cal guns but 22 mag and 22lr are very capable with the new punch ammo and 2 10 round speed strips it works for me I have seen what 22lr and 22mag do to people and its not something to laugh off it works and is very effective great vid thanks for your time making all the vids you do stay safe
Lately I have been watching and rewatching your many videos. Last week my LGS had that very same revolver. I may pick it up tomorrow if it is still available. I have been researching.22 LR as one has been on my radar since before your daughter was born. I have been using a Ruger Single -Six since 1982. Nailing many varmints even several coyotes. Shooting D.A. is my thing and I am just now finishing a large batch of .38 spl for my many revolvers. I do own two LCR's for carry. The Single -Six is also .22 WMR capable but rarely used by me. Looking forward to content on your new piece.
Nice shooting right out of the box! Got an LCRx in .22WMR a couple of years ago. Never fired it single action. On a side note, nice to see the 856 fired every time! Just put a Galloway spring kit in mine. Makes a big difference.
Very cool Sam. Looking forward to testing with it. Minor compliant Ruger, you could have made this a 7-shot without any trouble. S&W run 7 in their snub. One complaint I have about revolvers, the manufacturers aren't going to bother putting a mirror polish in the cylinder chambers for better extraction. Unless your name is Korth, Manurhin, or Freedom Arms.
Nice gun. It’s a good idea to at least give the chambers and bore a quick wipe when it’s new before shooting it to get any grease or crud out. I know it’s tempting not to when you’re excited to shoot a new gun but a good idea anyway. Enjoy your new gun. I envy you Sam and I love your videos
Oh good! This means we can expect to see some 22mag ammo reviews. I hope you will test some of the newer Federal punch 22mag rounds. Toss in some Gold dots and Crit defense in 22mag.
Good video… I’ve always been fascinated with 22mag , I have one bolt action rifle and a 6.5 inch heritage rough rider chambered in it and I’m just looking for a practical excuse to buy one of these LCR’s in 22mag as well because I do want one… just not really sure what I’d do with it other than plinking… some of the self defense rounds are looking pretty good for 22mag now though!
Wow that’s nice, look forward to seeing you test some 22 magnum defense rounds. Like Speer gold dot or federal punch 👍 I have a lcr in 357 magnum I carry 38 plus p in it , I really like the Speedbeez loaders
Gun I've craved 4 way 2 long !! Been on Taurus list for 2.5 yrs now. Congrat's on ur find. Now $$ I saved up went to several family emergencies w/my 7 g'kids. So stay w/my ole Rohm 22LR western pistol. Goes bang everytime so Good2go ! TY 4 ur fine work
Very nice ruger and a cool caliber, glad it ran well for you. I have my dad's ruger single six convertible and when I shoot 22 magnum I get a flash but shooting my sister's rough rider there is no flash . We use the same ammo and barrel length is just about the same.
We looked at the LCRx in .22wmr a couple years ago, but the price and capacity discouraged us...we ended up buying a Taurus 942 in the same caliber, it has been a good gun for us...
The snubby version of that is my gym pants gun. That 3" has been talking dirty to me though. Try out some CCI Target FMJs and speedster HV loads if you get a chance.
Well that was fun! Thanks for commenting on the double action trigger weight. The K 22 Masterpiece was too much for my fingers, (trigger finger and thumb). This could be a workable option.
I really enjoy the 22LR LCR but one compliment is that sometimes when ejecting the spent casings the ejector will slip past the rim and leave behind a case, especially if you don't point the ejection rod/ gun vertical. The tolerance of the metal the sits behind the rim is marginal... Oh and it has a beast, but smooth, but yet beast none the less of a trigger pull.😆 Congratulations on your new score... God bless
Can't wait to see how other brands of ammo does in that revolver. I have found that the Winchester you used here to be a bit oversized in two Ruger revolvers I own. It wont even chamber in one of them. Congrats and be safe.
I bought the very same lcrx in the fall of 2022. Didn’t get three cylinders through it before I had problems. Thought I solved the issue, and put it away for the winter. Spring of ‘23, got it back out, and had problems again. Ruger had me ship it back. Their gunsmith called me from New Hampshire, and said they would replace it, but didn’t recommend my picking another 22 mag. They would send me any other caliber lcrx for free. I picked the.327 federal magnum, and have had no problems. That is sure some kind of customer service.
I have the snub-nosed LCR in .22 WMR. It is a very good little shooter. I got the 5 Star speedloaders for it and they work very well. I have the 3in LCRx in .22 LR and I would love to get the 3in LCRx in .22 WMR as well
Thanks, that was excellent. I might be teaching a very petite woman to shoot. She wants to learn on a "Chief Special" because she already has had experience with that type of firearm. That's kind of a challenge to shoot in .38Special for a novice. I was thinking of recommending a revolver in .22LR or .22 Magnum, and that LCRX was 3" was what I was leaning towards. Yes, please, give us some comparison to the other popular calibers!
Ruger LCP II or Taurus TX22 are incredible options for .22, especially with Punch ammo. Totally changed my mind on .22 Semi Auto...nothing else comes close for me.
LOVE my .22LR LCR snubby. Makes a great trainer and just an all around fun gun to shoot. Must have 1000 rounds through it with one true dud. It's by far my most reliable rimfire handgun. Also picked up a NAA Black Widow in .22 WMR/.22 LR and it is great too.
I like .22 WMR; it’s a helluva lot of fun in a 6.5” Single Six. That being said, when my neck’s on the line, the choice between standard pressure.38 Special and .22 WMR is no choice at all.
It’s a cool caliber. I have been a fan of rimfires for many years. Revolvers offer much better versatility with respect to different loadings of various power levels and bullet construction as well. You will probably get a 22 LR in a revolver as well. They are most utilitarian thing you can own really. Thanks for the video.
I like the .22 Magnum as in all practical sense, it is a revolver cartridge. I mean, it's for rifles and some semi autos but the attributes are mostly revolver ones, often sporting semi jacketed hollow point bullets.
@@GunSam i generally use it in rifles. It’s a very capable cartridge in a rifle. I have tried about everything. Most of my ammo is 31 to 33 grains running north of 2000 fps. You usually loose about half of that in a pistol. Although i do have an auto mag that can reach 1600. The little magnum out of a rifle can do a number on most things.
I don’t consider it a self defense cartridge, nor the 22 LR, but they can be forced into that role if necessary. But, they can do a lot of other things very well. Quietly dispatch raccoons, Possums, and weasels in the hen house without frightening the horses, shoot copperheads, humanely end wounded or seriously injured animals on the road without endangering those nearby by launching a 10mm against the pavement, hunt small game, practice, and a million other things. So, to me, everyone should have a few of them. When i am out and about, I often carry a Smith 34 snub with quiets, snake shot, and stingers all in the same cylinder and two speed loaders with Velocitors and Stingers. It’s amazing what they can handle in real world situations where larger more powerful cartridges would be detrimental. I carry other pistols for dedicated self defense purposes. And honestly, so should everyone else.
Definitely a purchase to be excited about. I saw Buffalo's video too and the performance difference between the 2" vs the 3" was quite surprising. Nice revolver! To be on the safe side I would throw some snap caps it there when doing a lot of dry firing. I always enjoy your videos.
Sweet! I feel your frustration about the Bobcats. I have two of them I bought back in the 80s. Even after new springs and a rolled pin, neither functions as reliably as I remember them. Could be 33-34 year old magazines but not sure I want to spend any more money on them as your new version was exhibiting the same problems mine have. Thinking that for small, concealable .22s, an eight shot revolver is going to work a lot better. You were hitting the steel with the Ruger, but the “magnum” roar was drowning out the ding.
Suggestiong: 45 grain Federal Punch vs 45 grain Underwood Critical Defense! Also, the 40 grain Speer Gold Dot will likely function extremely well from a 3" barrel...
In the old days that would be called a "kit gun". That's a kit gun that can well double as a concealed cary gun. Plus it could double as a bug out gun. You could carry quite a bit of ammo for little weight. Good choice......
Beauty! I like the grips, sights and exposed hammer. Really great in 38 Special for home defense, IMHO. What I like about the 22 MRF revolver is that you get 22lr rifle barrel velocity. Speer used to make 50 gr Gold Dot 22 Magnum. That load would expand to 40 cal from the little mini revolvers in the gel. Speer now has a 40 gr 22 Magnum. How about testing some loads in the gel with your new revolver? Great video.
You've shown yourself to be an excellent shot, so not being exactly on target at first was probably what I call "New Gun Jitters." I pretty much throw out any accuracy attempts first time I shoot a new gun, LOL.
Having a "bad day "at the range is indicative of the best you can can expect when having a truly "bad day " on the streets. Thanks for your rigorous content, Gun Sam.
I had a Baretta 21A for a while also and it jammed like crazy! I wanted it for a BUG but it was so unreliable I couldn't believe it. I have looked at the LCRX in 22 Mag a good bit for the girls in the family. Right now the old guy, me, is still carrying the .327 or. 357 in three inch models. For a BUG usually I carry the SDX .45 with one in chamber. Arthritus and lack of grip strength means I only have six rounds for back up but hopefully they will be six good ones. Keep up the good videos.
Welcome to the world of .22 magnum ! It's my favorite round of all and my daily carry gun in SW 351 PD . Keep dry firing that Ruger and the trigger will get better and better. Get yourself some Armscor 40 g jhp in nickel case . They are about 13.99 a box of 50 . Great video
Thanks, but Armscor? I tested that ammo and it was terrible. I would not recommend it to anyone for safety reasons. th-cam.com/video/2xGuqANI2L4/w-d-xo.html
I absolutely love my Taurus TX22 with it’s lightweight aluminum and polymer frame. I’m considering the purchase of the Ruger LCRX in .38, but i’d like to rent one at a gun range, to experience the recoil and grip comfort. My current steel frame revolvers are pretty heavy but recoil isn’t much at all. I seems you can have light recoil with a heavy gun, or a heavy recoil with a light gun.
Hopefully your marital problems with Taurus have finally been resolved. I have a 2" 856 that I did a trigger job on and can hit 6" targets at 25 yards pretty consistently. Would like to get it in a 3" as well. It's too bad that Ruger didn't go with 7 or 8 rounds in that LCRx, but you've made me consider it. I wanted to mention the Hornady .22 WMR defensive loads if you haven't tried them. I still prefer my LCR in .327 Fed Mag and it gets a lot of carry time. I have a couple Kimber K6s's, and the 4" is a really great gun and easy to shoot even with hot .357 loads. I can't hit much of anything with my 2" K6s with either .38 spl or .357 Mag.
My wife's car gun is the Ruger LCR DA 2" in 22wmr- the LCR is a great revolver- looking to get more of them at some point. Oh also- the trigger on the LCR 22lr & 22wmr are heavier than the centerfire LCR's on purpose but still smooth.
Hey Sammy Congrats 👏 on your new pew pew friend I must say it looks pretty kool 😎 . 22mag is nothing to sneeze at,With the right load you can definitely Stop an attacker in there tracks..👣
Nice little revolver. You can't go wrong with a Ruger. I used to know a group of black bear hunters that used dogs and guess what they used to kill their bears? A 22 mag Ruger revolver. One head shot and they had meat and fur. The fur trade is dead here in the NC mountains but people still eat bears. I personally don't like bear meat, but whatever rocks their socks is cool with me. I do love deer meat though and I know from personal experience that one 40 gr 22 lr bullet in the head will drop one in its tracks. Underestimate a 22 caliber and it could be the last thing you do. Just saying. The 9mm ain't all that good either. You've proven that many times. I'll stick with a 45 acp and 357 mag. They have the stats to back up what they will do and have been doing since 1911 and 1935. Keep up the awesome videos and stay safe bro.
considering how much of a unicorn that LCR in 327 is right now, I might just have to pick up a 3" LCRx in 22 Mag instead. Ruger's website lists a lot of LCR models as "unavailable" - maybe they're discontinuing them? I'd hate if they discontinued the 327 model before I got one.
I agree with you regarding stopping the threat. Here in California many ranges don't want you using human silhouette targets, the closest thing to a bull's-eye is the head. Don't think I would want to use that as a defense in court but we do revert to our training.
Great size, great feel, great trigger for self defense. Lol but I’m never going to voluntarily trust my life to a rimfire. I have the .38 version of this and it is well trusted.
Nice piece! I think I've heard that rimfire revolvers tend to have heavier hammer springs than centerfire to help with more reliable ignition, so that may be why your cary lcr has a lighter double action, but don't quote me on that. Great shooting though!
Yeah, they do have heavier springs. That's why when I had some Taurus .22's the transfer bars would break but they never broke on any centerfire Taurus revolvers I owned.
Man I am just now seeing this for some reason! Thanks so much for the mention! I always appreciate the work you put into your videos.
Thank you. I mention you a lot lol. Often about my accuracy, often mention i'm not quite to your level yet, and people love hearing stuff like that, that I follow other TH-camrs.
"I didn't clean it, I just come from the gun store". Made me smile, I did that man times.
Aww man I’m so psyched for your 22mag vids !!!! I love 22mag !
Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of 22 “Magnum”, especially at civilian, self defense distances. It’ll easily penetrate all human bone, and burrow it’s way into vital, internal organs.
Congrats on a very KOOL new revolver. 👍
I have that revolver and LOVE it!!! 22 Magnum is a wicked round with negligent recoil. The 8 shot 22LR is bad ass too.
One of the few channels I have not grown weary of and isn’t clickbait central and look forward to seeing, keep up the great work!
Thank you
The guy sells untrustworthy firearms
Congratulations. I love the 22WMR. It is by far my favorite round to shoot. Revolver, semi-auto pistol, semi auto rifle, bolt rifle. Love that cartridge. 4" revolver is great for me.
Buffalo's Outdoors is good people. Honest presentations, data, and also enjoyable to watch. Was glad to hear you mention him and his channel. Its also why I also watch this channel. I get presented with some facts and data and I get to make a decision based on my own needs and circumstances. I always appreciate your videos Sam.
Thank yee!
LOL- ing - One followed me home about 10 days ago. I love it! 150 rounds later either the trigger lightened up or my finger is stronger.
Heavy coat, gloves - real world shooting. I'm impressed!
Congrats, I absolutely love my S&W 351 pd. I got the Federal Punch on my list now after Buffalo Outdoors video. I'm adding it to my Carry Permit out here in California.
Congratulations 👏 on the new acquisition Sam, may it serve you well and as we say in my country - "We wish you to shoot only paper and steel with it"!
It is the hope of all that is shot. If 'other' needs to be shot, it's their decision more than it is mine.
Thought that's what they said in Chicongo.
And wood. And varmint guts. And soup cans. And other stuff that needs a hole in it. Haha
is that what criminals are wearing nowadays
Nice choice and kudos for giving a shoutout to Buffalo. Y’all both have great channels.
Love the video. Picked up same LCRX last summer and been lovin it. A big fan of WMR and only shoot CCI, Punch, and Game Shok 50 grain offerings. Very accurate. I like BUffalo! Good dude! Great upgrade for you! Happy Shootin! 💥
Cool gun. I love my 3" in .38. I carry it IWB a ton in warmer weather. Handy and light and very accurate.
I have a 3" SW M65 K-frame and it is sweet! Great barrel length.
First, I enjoy your videos and thank you.

I really enjoy your tests Sam....you're honest with your evaluations.

LCRx ejection gets better over time, mine works great, occasional stick but better then when new otb.
That look of sheer joy on your face as you were reaching into that box! Haha!
Nice shooting right out of the box! Got an LCRx in .22WMR a couple of years ago. Never fired it single action. On a side note, nice to see the 856 fired every time! Just put a Galloway spring kit in mine. Makes a big difference.
Thank you for sharing, Sam. I have the LCRx with 3" barrel. Love that revolver. Mine is chambered in 38 Special

Very cool new gun! I've thought about the 22 mag myself in that config. I love my lcrx in 327 so I know I'd like that one too.

Wow that’s nice, look forward to seeing you test some 22 magnum defense rounds. Like Speer gold dot or federal punch 👍 I have a lcr in 357 magnum I carry 38 plus p in it , I really like the Speedbeez loaders

Absolutely right

I bought myself a second bobcat magazine. Lost it the first time I used it shooting.
Suggestiong: 45 grain Federal Punch vs 45 grain Underwood Critical Defense! Also, the 40 grain Speer Gold Dot will likely function extremely well from a 3" barrel...
I put a pachmayr diamond pro grip on my lcr 357 and it made a huge difference for me.
What a plucky little plinker! Shows you are a Smith and Ruger type.
Still need to get ya a new Colt one day. ❤ 🎉
Welcome to the Ruger revolver family. Best bang for the buck (no pun intended)🤣
Federal punch 22 magnum 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Congratulations on your new toy!
All the Ruger 22 revolvers need a good chamber cleaning and polishing, when new. The single actions are just as tight, but the ejector is powerful.
Nice guns...have had a couple in 9mm and .327...
And the frames on .22, .22 Mag and .38 are aluminum...
That's why the screen says it's aluminum. I don't know why people keep missing that tag on the screen when I mentioned I thought it was steel.
5 for 6 on the 22M from Long range on first cylinder! and 2nd...
GREAT SHOW!!
Taurus has a 9 shot convertible Tracker 22LR and 22mag. 4" barrel for a kit gun.
I just picked up a .22lr LCR used but basically new just opened box never fired for $375
For a second I thought you got your hands on those new Beretta in .380 acp. But that's cool too.
This 22 magnum either in 3 in or 2 inch barrel would make a great self-defense gun for someone who can't handle the recoil of a 38 special....
Depending on how heavy the trigger is. Rimfire typically requires a harder strike and therefor the hammer springs are heavier.
Very nice! And I told you already when you did you show us your 22 Beretta you should have taken a revolver. Especially as "Revolver Aficionado"
considering how much of a unicorn that LCR in 327 is right now, I might just have to pick up a 3" LCRx in 22 Mag instead. Ruger's website lists a lot of LCR models as "unavailable" - maybe they're discontinuing them? I'd hate if they discontinued the 327 model before I got one.
Seemed to me at 75 yards you got more hits with the LCRx. Ejector works pretty well after about 200 rounds, it did on mine.
Nice purchase and great review.
Sweet little revolver 👍
The yellow disc supplied with the revolver is for dry firing practice...
Is this listed information somewhere officially?
Nice. They have a good reputation. Hope it serves you well.
Use Mother's aluminum wheel polish in the chambers. Buff with patch on rod chucked in drill.
Glad to know I aint the only that uses mothers on my cars and guns.
@@mitchpayne555 Polished my SP101 and 629 with it.
Happy you didn't get a Charter, Sam. This is an excellent replacement for that damned Beretta.
I like my little beretta
I didn't even look at the charter lol. I was set on that LCR.
Nice gun! Great pick up.
This video helped me decide. Thank you!
as with any caliber shot placement is king, and all else is a distant second place.
