In this case: maybe. But now imagine you would have a 1-car-garage and watch the video how small the space beside the drivers door is. The same space would be on the right side and you would have trouble to get out of the car after driving into the garage. In that case it wouldn't be lazy, it would be the only option to put the car into the garage :)

I'm confused by the licensing of this video. Apparently because it's licensed, any videos I make on iMovie in which I use this song are removed from Facebook or Instagram which I then appeal because it's an iMovie song. Have you gotten any messages from anyone else regarding this issue?
I licensed this video to a third party. That's why it's like that. It has nothing to do with iMovie and the music from that

What's interesting about this video vs the other Summon/Auto Park vids, is that this one is the only that didn't wait until garage door was completely up. Started rolling out before the door was above the roof. Lots of sensors around the bottom of the car, sure, but what if the door didn't go all the way up? Are there sensors on the upper portions of the car too? Didn't look like there was anything on the dash/display that there was.
Also a demonstration with a stuffed animal tossed into the car's path after its begun auto-parking would be a real confidence booster, that this technology is safe (assuming it worked). And someone's pet or child isn't going to get run over.

Nice demo--thanks for sharing. Couple questions:
1. What mode do you keep your steering in? Looks like a lot of movement for very minor corrections.
2. Can you tell it how close you want it to get to the front of your garage, incase of a tight fit in the rear (so to speak)?
3. Can you tell it how far out of the garage (and down the drive) you want it to go?

The maximum distance the car will go is 39 feet. Yes you can set the stopping distance which is a setting for narrow spaces. You don't set the steering wheel but you do have to line up the car with the garage before using the feature.

+CoughlinKids Minor corrections take little movement at high speeds, and a lot of movement at low speeds.
I haven't received the update yet... but wonder if there is potential for failure if the door doesn't make it all the way up for some reason... 'down' shouldn't be as big of a problem, if there is a light beam across the entrance to lock out the drop. Any thoughts on how this might fail? AP Camera should identify door when moving forward, but I don't think they've ever made use of the rear camera for any AP functions. And the sonar likely doesn't see as high as the roof of the car level.
I can see this will be a great feature for my home, as long as it doesn't mind the bikes/tires/golf clubs at the back of the garage - LOL.
Yes I believe the sonar will see if the garage door is halfway open. I have had my sensors alert me when I manually park my car in the garage and I the door is on its way up over the car height.

There is no training required. You literally just park the car in front of the garage and use the summon feature. That's it!

Are you dumb? The car has tons of sensors. It won't keep moving if something is in it's way.
+Peyton Walker not true. there are 12 sensors, non of those 12 see a door at roof height. the only way is to calculate using a camera data. this is easy to check using some tape.

+Arnis Tarassu there is a stereo camera (sensor) on the roof of the car. It would detect the clearance of the car.

Can manually park it/drive out of the garage in less time than it does to hold the buttons down. Completely useless.
I believe the design for the Model S is starting to look dated, after all it was first reviewed back in 2009 almost 7 year ago.
I know Tesla is a brand new company but they should really try and always make their cars have a futurist and new quality to them and the model S simply does not have it anymore
