I totally agree with a thumbs up on this manufacturer. After buying and receiving and using my first knife i was so impressed that I bought 3 others of different sizes and configurations. In each case the knives did not seem like a custom made quality but that is not what I want. These are well made and simple and straight forward. Having carried various versions of Mora over the years, these knives are a couple of cuts above. They are my go to option for all of my outdoor adventures and would be my recommendation as a first knife for a beginner and would be my choice as a gift to a newbe
Glad I'm not the only one that thought Mora lost their minds with their latest release. I'm hoping that in time their prices will dip and level out. My recollection was that the Garberg when first released was quite pricey too, but over time the prices dropped to about the level where they are now. Perhaps I'm mistaken in my recollection? I know I didn't add a Garberg to my collection of Moras for quite some time and when the price got to a point where I felt like it made sense I bought one. I think consumers will drive the price of the new Moras. If people snap them up at current prices and they can't keep up with production then the prices will stay high, but if people don't snap them up and the new releases set about collecting dust then Mora will drop the prices to move the production run. Time will tell I guess, but in the meantime, this offering from Beavercraft seems a decent bargain.
The only way mora can save their ass is if they make a new affordable tough knife. The ashwood colection is made from the same steel as a mora companion...if they wanted to make a expensive knife they could atleast use a better steel
Thanks for taking the time to review this. It looks brilliant for the price. I'm delighted with my Garberg, however. It may not look the part, but it excels at everything. Blade thickness is spot on for batoning and heavy work but it will still carve spoons and form feather sticks. It feels comfortable in the hand for extended periods, and I like the fact that I don't have to remove it from the sheath to prep tinder or use a ferrocerium rod. The tang will do that whilst the blade is safely out of harms way. I agree they are expensive, but I reckon it will outlast me, and my son will continue using it for years afterwards. Add to that the sheath and carry options, and you get what you pay for.
Looks decent enough for those that either don’t want to spend or can’t spend a packet on a blade. Great review……… fingers crossed they approach your for a collab!
👍👍👍 .. looks like a good value knife. Extended use obviously, will be the proof of the pudding. Am looking forward go your surprise. Until then, take care ..
+1 to everything you said about the knife Neil. bought the BSH1, quite like it and have no regrets. but i will be replacing the sheath with a DIY job sooner than later. watch out for the flex of that thin-ish leather folks, after a good strop the blades are plenty sharp to slice a new exit without half trying. definitely not a point-and-push operation, you need to pay attention and guide that blade home.
I've seen a couple of other mentions for BPS, have you checked out their offerings? I have the Adventurer with firesteel, the sheath alone is worth what I paid.
Great knife for me ,I would have to regrind it to a true scandi, though .It looks like a great competitor to the Condor woodlore .would be great to compare it to my terrasaur and woodlore .closely priced to both ,do not know if it would be worth buying without a long-term review , test edge retention etc ,you know what the saying is ! " new broom sweeps well" great honest review .God bless .. Lee
At that price you cannot go wrong. I know from experience buying an expensive knife is a waste of time. The knife you displayed is a very good all purpose knife
When you first started on the new Moras, I thought, "Oh boy. Here we go..." But then you mentioned the price was too high, and I calmed down! Lol! (I also agree with you on the Garberg, but most people really like that knife... I'm not a fan.) When it comes to Mora these days: "I'm fan, not a martyr!" These Beavercraft knives look absolutely brilliant! I also agree that they are what Mora *should* have made, and at a similar price. They apparently make several models too. I've yet to buy one - I just don't need it and I'm in to more pricey blades these days. Great review. 👍
Great vid Neil, really hope they do take you up on your offer to design on knife for them, with you and you Bro experience in leather and blades and that knife in a skandy grind and that price point I would jump on that, it is almost what I have been looking for.
Neil any idea why they sent you that knife over others made by them...I have a knife from them and as someone else stated mine is much more of a bushcraft knife at least in my opinion...mine also has a lanyard hole. My sheath is also a bit more sturdy
A cold blued knife with a modified scandi or Low sabre grind. That is very interesting. I am not a fan of Scandi grinds because they are specialized in wood work. This has my attention.
Beavercraft actually state it's 1066 steel. 60 is a little too hard for my taste, but nothing ridiculous. I'm going to throw out an educated guess and say it's local Ukrainian soviet type steel (equivalant to 1066) and that's just the RH to put it at. They surely have alot of steel mills, which all have names we know from Russian invasion. For $40, you cant go wrong, can you?
The the extra grind makes little to no difference from a full scandi grind. Yer splitting hairs about that, especially since you showed it does all the bushcraft tasks perfectly fine.
You need to change your camera Auto focus setting mate 👍 It's super annoying watching long fuzzy sections. I'd be ashamed to upload sometime like this ☹️
Methinks Mora was blindsided by the outrage from the knife community on their exploitative pricing for their new line. They expected their base to pay for a name the way Benchmade and others do. Mora base is accustomed to Benchmade quality at Mora prices. Not U.S. Capitalist prices. 😅😂😂
The ashwood colection is a joke. If they used a better steel i would be ok with it. The garberg is a bit more expensive but its still a good knife. At the almost the same price range you can get a joker that is better...
looked at this knife had almost bought it then said naww i have enough knives then along comes Neil with his soft spoken English accent and I take another look. and I think Ya know for $27.99 plus tax. Weeelll, ? Never can tell, I might could use another knife and if that sheath is too thin I could always make me another... and Bobs yer Uncle I bought one
Okay. Here we have Ukraine, a small, war-torn country, first making BPS knives, successfully. Good quality--they market their knives as made for the Ukraine army. Then, suddenly, Beavercraft shows up offering a budget, niche product, very similar to BPS. Maybe a step or two down from BPS, from what I can see. Sorry but that sheath is ugly. So, are we to believe that Ukraine is now competing with itself with two companies making very similar knives? I find that strange. I wonder if the Russians occupying eastern Ukraine aren't tapping the market, undercutting BPS.
Ragnar'd death was going to mess up Mora. Tthere is No Such thing as a Bush Craft knife! ....unless you mean a parang, golock, machete, etc. The little knives displayed are okay for the English countryside. Pretty but almost useless in the jungles.
It is cheap .. 40 bucks cheap. As a pre- teen back in the 50's, my first full-tang knife was a cheap 'fishing knife' my Dad bought for me. It was made of carbon steel with riveted wooden handles, had a soft-ish steel, was easy to sharpen on almost anything but didn't take too kindly to coastal salt water. That said, it served me extremely well for many years .. initially for fishing as mainly a bait and filleting knife and later as a 'camping knife'. Unfortunately it got 'lost' during one of my moves. Cheap? If it does the job and the user is happy with it, then no.
' Cheap ' does not alway's mean it's rubbish, it's made from 1066 carbon steel with a good heat treat and HRC of 60-62, similar to other knives which carry much higher price tag's, no, cheap does not alway's mean it's rubbish.
THE BEAVERCRAFT KNIFE COMPANY HAS BEEN INFLUENCED FROM THE MORA KNIFE COMPANY, ESPECIALLY, THE BSH2. ALSO, THE BLUEISH COVER FROM THE BSH3 IS THE ONE THAT MORA USES FOR THE PATHFINDER, THE BUSHCRAFT AND THE GARBERG CS. THE NEW MORA RELEASES ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, BUT, EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE. THEY CAN KEEP THEM FOR THEMSELVES. THEY ARE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE CASSTROM ONES. I OWN THE MORA ELDRIS, ELDRIS LITE, COMPANION, BUSHCRAFT CS, BUSHCRAFT SS, GARBERG SS, CLASSIC N1, PATHFINDER, MORA 510, ALLROUND CS AND SS, MORA FROST 311 AND ALL THE WOODCARVING TOOLS. I WOULD GO FOR A BEAVERCRAFT. IN GREECE THE BSH3 COSTS 48,50€.

Did you have to pay import duties on delivery? Their website suggests so...
@@niallharran I am from Canada and I think that Canada does not charge under a certain value. There were no additional import duties charged to me

Just got one. Excellent value and a really good camping/bushcraft knife. Support Ukraine too!
Looks decent enough for those that either don’t want to spend or can’t spend a packet on a blade. Great review……… fingers crossed they approach your for a collab!
Am I the only one that noticed his absolutely insane feather stick skills? The speed and precision of each cut and curl fold over, wow.
I watched this saying the same thing: "Holy shit, look at those feather sticks. This dude knows what he's doing."
I love all my Beavercraft knives!!!❤
Glad to hear you using your original music again!
i got a bsh2 and love it. it has a slimmer handle for my tiny sausage-fingers, no secondary bevel and a lanyard hole.
Oh Neil, you've done it again, such a great review they've sold out on the link provided !!
It looks like they have a good hatchet too.
They seem to be advertising this knife a lot currently, second review of this I've come across today. Good review, fair and considered.
Looks like it will get you out of a scrape at a push.
Thanks Neil.
All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧⛺️
The steel is 1066 HC steel with a rockwell hardness 60 hrc
You've wet my appetite now..... a bushcraft knife of your design made by Beavercraft... if that comes off... I'm in👍😀
👍👍👍 .. looks like a good value knife.
Extended use obviously, will be the proof of the pudding.
Am looking forward go your surprise. Until then, take care ..
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY USA brother from across the pond
Hi Earl 👋
Hi my friend
+1 to everything you said about the knife Neil. bought the BSH1, quite like it and have no regrets. but i will be replacing the sheath with a DIY job sooner than later. watch out for the flex of that thin-ish leather folks, after a good strop the blades are plenty sharp to slice a new exit without half trying. definitely not a point-and-push operation, you need to pay attention and guide that blade home.

Great job on the video 👍👍👍
Noticed in a previous video you were walking through Sittingbourne high street just wondered if you are based in or around that area

At that price you cannot go wrong. I know from experience buying an expensive knife is a waste of time. The knife you displayed is a very good all purpose knife
If the grind is _not_ a scandi, what kind of grind is it? Personally, I prefer a flat grind. What grind does it come with, though?
When you first started on the new Moras, I thought, "Oh boy. Here we go..." But then you mentioned the price was too high, and I calmed down! Lol! (I also agree with you on the Garberg, but most people really like that knife... I'm not a fan.) When it comes to Mora these days: "I'm fan, not a martyr!"

Great review. 👍
I had the same feeling,I find it even similar as the Mora
Great vid Neil, really hope they do take you up on your offer to design on knife for them, with you and you Bro experience in leather and blades and that knife in a skandy grind and that price point I would jump on that, it is almost what I have been looking for.
I couldn’t agree more on the sheath, being left handed.
nice honest review i believe the same factory makes nothing dissimilar for the Ukraine Military
Steel is identified as 1066 from their amazon listing
Neil any idea why they sent you that knife over others made by them...I have a knife from them and as someone else stated mine is much more of a bushcraft knife at least in my opinion...mine also has a lanyard hole. My sheath is also a bit more sturdy
Looks a capable knife bro, hope you are well, I’ve been out of the game for ages, being bitten by the black dog…..glad you are ok x JP
Nice film Neil 👍and good to see you among friends JP 🔥

I am not a fan of Scandi grinds because they are specialized in wood work. This has my attention.
That looks like a dam Good knife!! Nicely done on video!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🪓🔪👍👍
These have *1066 blade steel like BPS knives.
Bps is also from Ukraine. How does Beavercraft compare to Bps?
Beavercraft actually state it's 1066 steel. 60 is a little too hard for my taste, but nothing ridiculous.
I'm going to throw out an educated guess and say it's local Ukrainian soviet type steel (equivalant to 1066) and that's just the RH to put it at. They surely have alot of steel mills, which all have names we know from Russian invasion.

I just got one in the mail.
The tarp behind you, which one is it?
Dutch poncho
Oh I have one myself
The the extra grind makes little to no difference from a full scandi grind. Yer splitting hairs about that, especially since you showed it does all the bushcraft tasks perfectly fine.
1066 carbon steel @ 50-60
Looks similar like the new Mora, except the price
Great and trustworthy review, Neil. Thank you.
I'm wondering about a BSH3 (+ sheath) vs Condor Bushlore (+ sheath) comparison?
Seems like a Quality Knife and Company and I Hope that the Russian Invaders are Meeting this Knife upfront and Personal . Slava Ukraine !
You need to change your camera Auto focus setting mate 👍
It's super annoying watching long fuzzy sections. I'd be ashamed to upload sometime like this ☹️
Great review but sort out your focus… it’s REALLY annoying on a modern HD TV.
Methinks Mora was blindsided by the outrage from the knife community on their exploitative pricing for their new line. They expected their base to pay for a name the way Benchmade and others do. Mora base is accustomed to Benchmade quality at Mora prices. Not U.S. Capitalist prices. 😅😂😂
listed as 'currently unavailable'
At least the garberg has a decent steel, the new mora model is recycled steel they don’t even say what it is.
I hear it’s 12C27, which they use for their cheaper stainless blades…
unavailable on amazon doesn't surprise me Ukraine
The ashwood colection is a joke. If they used a better steel i would be ok with it. The garberg is a bit more expensive but its still a good knife. At the almost the same price range you can get a joker that is better...

After wasting $30.00 = Not worth the money.
Out of stock
I'd LOVE to send some money to Ukraine but I'm not buying a knife if they can't even tell me what the steel is...WTH ?
You can’t compare a mora garberg with a Tupney 8 peice of 2.5mm 1055 carbon steel.😂
Looks cheap to me.
It is cheap .. 40 bucks cheap.
As a pre- teen back in the 50's, my first full-tang knife was a cheap 'fishing knife' my Dad bought for me.
