- So what is actually in this bushcraft instructors pack? Its a very simple, relatively lightweight set of items that allow me to live in the field and do my job. You may not agree with all my choices but if there are any ideas you find useful - help yourself!!

I like the way you keep the cutlery simple, an opinel knife, saw and a small axe. I am a bit of a belt kit person myself, keep my firelighting kit and FAK on my belt in leather pouches I have crafted myself.
I always enjoy watching your videos . I'm not an instructor but one of the things I carry is beer, it may add a little weight but at the end of the day the pack does become lighter LOL

If you like that 35l swedepack, maybe have a look at lk 35 sjv too? It's an lk 70 with the bag cut in half, so you can strap things like a medikit, a radio or a car battery or a watertank or what have you, to the frame under the shortened bag, and it has a ledge on it so even firewood's easily carried!
Poncho and a wool blanket with the roll pad sometime just put on the poncho and sleep against a tree or pack. If you are tired you can sleep anywhere.
Solid loadout all bombproof kit you put me onto the LK35 considering all your mods which are essential I went with a Savotta ruck and now there discontinued thanks for sharing!!😁✌️💚✊️🔥

I’ve ditched my Alpkit bivvy though for a Mil-tec side zipped bivvy with storm flap.
I do still like my DA hooped bivvy though.
Prefer a hammock 😉

Everybody has their own take as to what should be in their bag .. sharing it with others comes in handy for all.
An aside .. speaking of parachute nylon clothing ..
My late Dad served in North Africa and Italy in the South African Defence Force as an Aircraft Mechanic / Ground Crew during WW2 .. on 'Boston Baltimore's'.
Battle-Damaged aircraft landings .. there was a rush to rescue the crew inside .. especially if they were from your specific aircraft. 'Rescued' also were as many parachutes as possible. These would subsequently be declared as 'lost' in the 'Fog of War' and would find their way as a donation to one of the many grateful Italian Families in the area. Obviously, a pair of hand-tailored pyjamas received in return was always appreciated. Being of pure silk was an added bonus.

Slick.....I'v been an outdoor instructor now for nearly 17 years and you can soon tell when someone knows what they are talking about. Something I nicked off a fellow instructor was putting a blob off toothpaste onto a bit of clingfilm and making my own sachets for trips, been a great tip and worked well for me for yonks!
I love your "do it on the cheap" approach, annoyingly you look pro for a fraction of the cost of my kit lol

Think I have 3 norland hatchets and 1 largest norland. One of the hatches is alway in the back pack. Great little hatchet. Great video. I usually carry a US GI 2 quart soft side canteen with cover and shoulder strap, and a Stanley cook set (price is pretty good around 15 bucks )comes with 2 plastic cups. Cups are pretty tough. The set up works for grandson and I. We both have hammocks with bug nets found if I put a ground pad in the hammock with A blanket or sleeping bag stay warm and comfortable and if I want to sleep on the ground I still have the ground pad .

You only need some “go fast” stripes on that zuit suit, plus some trainers with the tongue hanging out, and you’d be sorted for an 80s night out!😂🤣😁
Nice one Neil, thanks for sharing. I'm loving the simplistic load out. Plenty to be comfortable without going overboard. I'm heading down to the SW Coast Path for a camp very soon and will take a very similar kit (minus the heavy tools!). 👍
If I'm not taking the axe, saw, etc to save weight....I use plastic, screw in , tent pegs. They are really good Gav.
Thanks Neil, I'm focusing on kit weight reduction due to my age and lighter build.
If I carry a poncho for rain gear, I add a pair of gaiters to keep my lower legs dry.
Just goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune to get out and about. I have spent more money than I care to mention on kit over the years and you really don’t need to, the woods aren’t bothered which brand of axe, knife, pack or bivvie you have. Perfectly functional gear is available for peanuts. Cheers pal!
Wow, such a nice system. But when you are planning a whole weekeind away. Do you have room in your bag for food? Because just hot chocolate and tee issn't gonna do it :D And i have a simple hammock but i think ill throw it out. Because i find it does not work so good. You just hang in the wind and you need extra isolation and so forth. I have a Dutch Army bivi bag and sleeping bag modulair system complete. So winter or summer i wil be dry and warm. Only thing i need to improve is the air mat. Mine is too big to have it inside the bivi bag. And it takes for ever to pump it up.

Sorry to hear you were hacked. Hopefully, all is well now? Anyways, some people truly do suck! Can't live and let live? Sheesh! The thing is, if a hacker was hacked and someone messed with their stuff they'd be all sorts of pissed off. Wishing karma upon them. Hopefully, this experience won't impact your channel. MCQ went dark after his channel was hacked sometime ago. While probably not the only reason for his absence now ( married with a child now and living in Sweden) I suspect it might have played a small part in his absence now. I do miss his outdoor life content though.

Brad, as I said in the video, this is what I carry when teaching, which usually means working out of a base camp, so food is taken care of. Obviously, if out on my own, then I would carry my own food.

Basha is a British army slang term for a temporary shelter. Basha is an Indian word for hut or shelter and was picked up by British troops who served in India and Burma during WW2.
What about the food ??
A food bag can be added (there is plenty of room), but you normally eat with your students while teaching.
