    I recently got a Male Holland Lop Bunny. As long as you clean his cage EVERY day, and wipe every surface with vinegar water every week, he will NOT smell.
    They are very rewarding and CUTE!

      @@IsmailKhan-np8cn rabbits should eat hay 24/7...this serves two functions...1) Fiber keeps the gut running properly 2) Rabbits teeth continue to grow non stop, eating hay properly wears them down, thus preventing malocuusion and molar spurs, which become costly every 6 weeks! Rabbits are great companions but need a lot of care and attention. They take lots of responsibility. They live up to 12 years and you should make sure you are committed to take care of your rabbit for those years. I love my rabbit. Shes a mini lop. She is super calm and NEVER bites. I recommend a rabbit as a pet as long as you have done lots or research.

    Depends on the veggies. Collard and turnip greens are good for rabbits to eat daily, how much they get depends on the size of the rabbit. My mini lop eats less than a cup, but my Flemish eats 2-3 cups. The House Rabbit Society is one of the best rabbit info sources out there, links to rabbit-smart vets as well.

      (Incidentally, the Rodentia does not include rabbits; rabbits differ from rodents in having an extra pair of incisors and in other skeletal features. Rabbits, hares, and a few other species make up the Lagomorpha. Shrews, moles and hedgehogs are also not rodents; they are classified in the Mammal order Eulipotyphla.)

    Hi, I Raise Lop rabbits, I measure their pellets with a small corn 'can'. Also make sure you give them plenty of hay since they need to stay occupied for the whole day and night before next feed. And I don't recommend giving lots of carrots and vegetables maybe once a week since it can cause diarrhea and trust me it's not worth it. Lop Rabbits and any other rabbits are very sensitive pets. It's not very hard to take care of them.. Make sure you have a small place for them to stretch their legs:)

Mine has one of them bigger then the other and it stopped growing and she's doing fine. But If you are uncertain take her to a vet and check her out!

    I noticed in the intro that the food that the bunnies were eating has artificial colors in it. Please do not give your rabbit artificial colors. Rabbits need hay 24/7 not only a handful. Lots of wood shavings are dangerous for bunnies. Please everyone don’t listen to this information. Rabbits are NOT RODENTS THEY ARE LAGOMORPHS!

  • @dominiquealexis09
    @dominiquealexis09 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    ERRORS: despite their name, mini lops are not small rabbits! they are actually the third largest lop breed (holland lops are the smallest, french and english lop are larger than mini lops). rabbits are not rodents! Stay away from litter (litter can be ingested and cause digestive problems). they should have unlimited hay, pellets and vegetables daily, and very minimal fruits! (apples are usually fine, but a lot of fruits can harm a rabbits digestion. so maybe one or two pieces of fruit a week.)

  • @SpacePriestess
    @SpacePriestess 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Paper litter is okay to use. Some rabbits prefer it to be covered with a handful of hay, some don't. Clay litter and wood litter should be avoided at all costs though, not only can it be ingested but the dust from clay litter can cause respiratory problems in rabbits. Totally right about the fruit. Bananas and grapes should be avoided because rabbits have a sweet tooth and will sometimes stop eating in the hopes they will get more - should be a last-ditch resort for giving meds. ;)

    Mini lops should not eat ANY fruit as it disturbs their bowels, mini lops are cabbage rabbits and a cabbage leaf 2-3 times a week when they are over 12 weeks old- they can have small peices of carrot and cucumber as a treat but not lettuce!! (This is what I have been told from my mini lops experienced breeder)

    First of all rabbits aren’t rodents second rabbits need an unlimited amount of hay to graze on like a horse or cow third they should be litter trained if possible and free roam but if they are not free roam they should have a big enough cage to no binkies (run back and forth) bunnies are very fast and energetic and If they are in a cage they need to be tall, bunnies like to stand on their hind legs and they need a tall cage to stand up straight or it will hurt their back if they are litter trained they need lots of hay in their litter box as well. I had a vet cut my hamster's teeth once. He used a dog's toenail clipper. It was shocking to see but it didn't seem to bother the hamster. I would be afraid to attempt it myself. I'd probably take the rabbit to a vet, or groomer experienced at it. As an adult, I have since learned to give my gnawing pets plenty of things to gnaw on to keep their teeth worn down. Once as a child, I had a gerbil, and the poor thing bit through its nose to my horror. I didn't know then that that could happen.

      You could buy hay by the bale. I get 40 pounds of hay for only 7.99. Just look for a feed store or farm near you.

    @MissDragonessPrinces do you keep your bunny in your house? And even if you don't, do they start to smell? That's the only reason I can't get one and I really want one.... I would keep it in my room

    • @lotrtim

      This is probably a little late but rabbits do not smell. The only thing that will smell is their litter but that won't be a problem if you clean it regularly. I hope you already got a bunny!

      No Name pellets and lot of hay, and well, he does like leafy greens a lot now that he has warmed up to them. he is just a very pick bunny so he doesn't like to try new things. he did eat some apple and raspberry once and that made me super happy! lol

    @kidawesomeness123 Hi, i've owned rabbits for several years and no, a good cage for a rabbit should be about twice the size of those cages. and as for hypoallergenic rabbits, i have not heard of any; try keeping the rabbit's cage in a separate room or outside so your mother will be able to avoid the fur easier (my two sisters are allergic, i moved my rabbits to a room where they usually don't go in; they have have extremely minimal problems with them since) . . . . hope i could help :))

  • @SpacePriestess
    @SpacePriestess 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    No, teeth are NOT teeth no matter the animal. Rabbit teeth grow constantly throughout the animal's life, and if they are not worn properly through chewing on hay and wood toys, they will grow out of the rabbit's mouth. Some rabbits have this problem no matter how much hay or how many toys they have, and their teeth require clipping. You just proved your ignorance of rabbit care.

      Lmao... I live in NORTHERN Canada and every breeder out here keeps their bun outdoors. With plenty of hay and straw and a good hide your bun will be fine. Start them outdoors in summer, and they will acclimatize with the weather and be fine in winter. Indoor rabbits have been shown to live a few years longer though, so be aware of that.
