      +hsp 7564 she passed away a few months ago. we woke up to go on a trip to vegas and that morning we were supposed to take her to a friend who cares for bunnies and guinea pigs but that morning she had passed. it looked like she went peacefully. the medication the vet had her on relieved some of the pain so at least it wasnt too bad... we had her cremated. she now has a mural in our living room (which is where she always was). i miss her so much but she had a great life

    Cuteness poisoning is also something to consider. Over-exposure to bunnies and chinchillas can lead to cuteness poisoning for the owner, so be sure to detox.

      Jada Walt In case you were serious, the person who posted was kidding, stating that bunnies were so cute that you will love them and will be "poisoned" by their cuteness. Bunnies and Chinchillas are poison free don't worry :)

    I know all this information sounds very intimidating for first time rabbit owners - but believe me...if you are willing to put the time in rabbits make amazing, lovable, goofy pets! Don't impulse buy, but seriously don't right off a bunny because people in the comment sections say rabbits are too much trouble. I'm 25 and have owned 3 rabbits over the course of my life. I love cats, I love dogs, but bunnies take my heart!

      I have to admit, I bought my rabbit impulsively, I didn't know what I was getting into, and I didn't even have any supplies for her. But I did my research (afterwards) and made sure to provide her with everything she needed. Now 6 years later, I still have my best friend, and we've gotten extremely close over that time. I couldn't imagine my life without her C:
      I always say that rabbits are like a mix of a dog and cat. They have such large personalities, and can love you very deeply

      i got my first rabbit at 10 years old. she was already an older bunny, around 9, but she was still a handful! But I rented out every rabbit care book from my school and local library and taught me and my mum how to take care of her! and every night bunny boo would go up to my bed and fall asleep right next to my pillow. every. night.
      she died at the age of 13, but she passed away peacefully and i found her under my bed.

    I am a stay-at-home mom and I have a 2 year old and I literally bought it for her for her second birthday & I absolutely fell in love with it ! I feel like it’s my own and my kid has noticed and just slowly instead of rushing it or pushing it around she just touches it slightly and runs off. The bunny (Flower) does everything with me and she loves to hop around the bed and cuddle with me and my partner and baby..

    • @miarand57
      @miarand57 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flower is YOUR rabbit! A 2 year old is too young for ANY animal except to be taught how to be gentle and to touch lovingly. Wait until your kids are old enough to be responsible for a pet before cutting them with one but do begin teaching your young children kindness for animals from a young age!👍❤

    Oh wow... I got my rabbit when I was about 5-6 because I only just moved away from my home country and I couldn't speak English at all which meant I was really scared of making friends which resulted in really bad anxiety and just crying every day (it depends on what kind of person you are, I'm really anxious around people and was really shy back in the day) and so begging my mum for a rabbit got me a black and white fluffy friend 😊
    BUT what I didn't know was that I had to clean his cage up everyday, feed him, and occasionally hold him 😂 so the first time I held him was when I got my puppy (I promise I'm not spoilt, I just really love animals and my mum bought me a dog because I wanted one for 2 years) I was about 11-12 at the time. And I love him so much and after holding my new puppy I decided to hold my rabbit even though his claws dig in :/ and from that day he became more friendly (his home is currently the garden since it isn't too cold and he visits us all the time, loves being given attention to, bouncing around the new puppy etc etc) and he also had a brother! They're both black and white which I find really cute (it was a coincidence) but yeah, I love them so much.

    whenever I go out on a vacation, I drop Bugs (my bunny) in a daycare near my house. but that was after watching this video. we were about to leave him overnight with food and water but then I told her that he can't stay like that so we searched all different types of daycares for him and finally found one that had enough of space for him, good quality of food, his roommates were also rabbits, and the best part was that they also had a grooming centre which had different rooms for different types of animals so that they don't get scared. now that's his fav place to go while we're on a vacation. they also ask for recommendations for food that they will feed him and also give him the meds (his multivitamins) of needed. thanks for all the help.

    let me just say one thing. I have a bunny,and his name is thumper. I am in highschool, I have a job, and I play sports but I still spend so much time with him. do not listen to them if you want a bunny get one. yes they can be expensive and yes they need care and love , but they over exadurate. as long as you can take care of your bunny you are fine.and if you are careful you won't be spending billions on the vet. they live in new York of course it costs more. I'm just saying don't watch one video and decide you can't get one.

    The bunny I had was very intelligent. She would come when her name was called and she understood simple commands and phrases (such as 'come', 'lay down', 'stay' and 'no'). Having a daily routine really helped her understand a lot of what was going on around her. I used to think rabbits weren't very bright but she proved me wrong!

    Watching these videos makes me miss my Bun. I was concerned he wasnt happy with his living conditions, and I gave him away to someone who had much more time and space. It was only after I found out that he was extremely happy living with me, and did many of the happy bun behaviors, I feel like I wanted to do the best for him, but in the end I kinda didn't :/ I also got him neutered and vaccinated by my Vet, and they were extremely well trained in Buns, he had his own little room to hide in after surgery and they gave him many of his favourite treats afterwards.

    I own a Border Collie mix who's a nice little bundle of energy and loves to play and chase things. Despite that, I decided to try him with a rabbit. My first rabbit was a Florida White that was so sweetly tempered. My Border Collie walked beside the Florida White and would gently set her down and groom her when she was getting overly enthusiastic. After the Florida White died, we got a Rex that was bold and aggressive. The Border Collie treated the Rex the same way. He bathed her and let her move around freely. Whenever I had to leave the apartment, the Rex and Border Collie wanted to be in the crate together.

    A lot of what she says does not fit my bunnies personality or the expenses. I have had him for 3 years, and he loves running around and enjoy hugs, and that I can tell based on his teeth gnissing.
    This woman seems to have based this on maybe 2-3 bunnies, but in the end it's up to how you raise it and the fact that a bunny does have it's own very outstanding personality.
    I would say the only worry is keeping it's surroundings clean, be very calm and gain trust by not forcing it to anything, and be careful what breeder you pick.
    Also my bunny does very well in trips, we bring him around and he lies down and eat some hay now and then. We even took him to swedish border camping spot last summer (we're norwegian) and he loved running around and was famous on the site the second day, and I have never seen him do that many happy jumps and being so social and active, it was amazing and he loves everyone.

    Tomorrow I am going to pick up my new rabbit who is a beautiful orange butterfly holland lop, she will be my first rabbit. Unfortunately she wont be able to be a indoor rabbit, I would prefer her to be but sadly their is a high chance my dad and older brother will be allergic because they are allergic to cats and their saliva so when they groom themselves the saliva coats the fur. I have been researching rabbits for months now and after a while I am planning on getting more, although they will generally live outdoors, they will be allowed inside and if the results are good hopefully they can become indoor rabbits :) :)

    when i was aged 12 i wanted a bunny . so i did a lot of research before adopting it . then when i got it it wasn't friendly at all. it used to bite me and scratch me . so 3 months later it started following me and licking my foot and hand . so what i basically did was nothing . just feed it , clean the litter box and buy toys . but what really helped was laying on the floor with treats in my hand , and letting it come and start licking me and sniffing me then get the treats . it really helped alot and made her trust me .

    I have my first rabbit and I’m only 11.
    She’s healthy, happy and doing extremely well.
    She trusts me a lot and if I ever go on vacation, I either take her with me or leave her with my auntie, my cousin has a rabbit and leaves it with her mother (my auntie)
    So my auntie has a lot of experience with rabbits.
    My next rabbit will mostly likely be from a shelter (If I decide to get another rabbit after my current rabbit) but if I do get my current rabbit a friend, I would want to get a rabbit from a pet shop as my rabbit does like to get up in everybody’s face so a rabbit with a some kind of traumatic past won’t like that.

    They’re right, I was lucky enough to find a low cost pet clinic here in Clermont Florida to neuter my rabbit for $123. I’ve had my dwarf rabbit for 2 years and we’re ready to buy another :) they have their own room and free roam all day throughout the house. I’m also allergic to cats, but my rabbit has No affect on me at all! Such a clean animal

    Thank you for all your info.; I’m going to be a first time rabbit owner, though not pet owner (cats n guineas all my life) n saw lion heads n just about passed out fr cuteness overload, so started looking into this type of pet ownership n need info on them n found urs very helpful n informative (have also just subscribed 4 future fyi 🐰 info). I as a life long pet owner know the expenses that can occur but never having had a rabbit before I needed as much info as possible, which this clip provided me with. I noticed in comments section people didn’t appreciate a well rounded viewpoint, lol. However, everything you discussed were necessary points, valid in using for consideration for this type of pet. I’ve adopted in the past a pet (gp) fr someone who bought it for her son n after 6 mos was bored n lost interest in it n was able to give it a wonderful hm. People need to understand the long term commitment that some animals will require n so many variables come into play when choosing the right animal for yourself or your family. Thanx again for providing a well rounded n informative video for new, first time owners, I look fwd to my future little side kick! 🐰 🐾 🐇 ♥️✨💋🤙🏻😉🌺

      Lion heads are actually more work than other pets since there considered one of the _royal_ type bunnies I have one and there so much more work than other bunnies also they need more attention and more love since there attention seekers but that’s only the few that I’ve seen
      So good luck being a bun parent

    I love this video, it is true the info, rabbits are way different from cats and dogs, they are not low maintenance, I raise bunnies since I was 15 years old and still my mom was the main caregiver, she taught me a lot and my bunny lived for 10 years!!!! :D

    Also be sure ahead of time if you have a hay allergy. It's killer to be allergic to hay if you commit to having a rabbit for the next 20 years.

    Our dogs are great with our bunnies! We have a German Shepherd X Boxer, Border Collie X Boston Terrier, Chihuahua, Chihuahua X Dachshund, and a Jack Russell Terrier and they absolutely adore our bunnies!! For our rabbit to see a vet it's $75.00 and for a rabbit to get neutered it's $234.00 a significant amount cheaper than our dogs had cost! This information is somewhat mis-guided I feel, on the dog breed part. You can train dogs to get along with your rabbits but ours just did it naturally and our Jack Russell Terrier plays with and loves our bunnies.

    I was a toddler when my Mum kept rabbits. They lived happily. They were all actually rescue rabbits.
    I'm now 12 and have two 3 year old rabbits which I do the majority of looking after them. So tell me, why say kids shouldn't rabbits? Sure, if you have 7 year olds that watch things like Ben Ten and runs round knocking things off shelfs, don't get a rabbit or try and get your kid to be calmer... No need to joke about getting rid of kids

    • @Dinoboots
      @Dinoboots 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is more aimed towards kids who have had no experience with them. Because you grew up with rabbits, you know right away how much work and care they are. Many people do not, and the point of this is to discourage people who have not done their research or do not have rabbits from getting them just for their kids because they think they are 'kid' pets. It is not intended to be a personal attack on everyone who owns a rabbit that is younger, they are trying to educate people on their care.

    Well I bought a rabbit from a petshop around a week and a half ago..her name was bread btw, so basically I had to go to my moms house for three days and then I came back to feed my rabbit..she had died, then my sister went to get her rabbit from someone on the website gumtree.. then we talked about bread and the person we were getting my sister's rabbit from said that bread shouldn't have been away from her mother yet! That's a reason to go towards a shelter for a rabbit.

    My rabbit will not leave his cage to play in the house because of our wood floors unless I put a blanket out. Then he will only stay on the blanket. I didn't have to bunny proof for that reason. I spent $250 to fix him. I spend like $15-30 a week on hay, food and fresh produce, etc. His cage is a hex pen with a patch of carpet under it, a little house, litter box, food bowls, toys... ($200 worth)Takes up 5 x 5 space. I vacuum cage and change litter every other day. They shed a lot of hair so you have to clean. My teacup chihuahua and him are really good together. Rabbits are good pets just not for everyone. Less work than a dog, but more than a cat. One time purchases are high but ongoing care is less costly than other pets in my opinion.

    Do you think a rabbit would be a good pet for me? Here are some facts about me: I did A LOT of research (many, many websites), I am very interested in rabbits, I have almost everything (other than food, hay, and pellet litter) from my recent pet (a hamster. She had chews he never used so...), my family had a rabbit that came from an abusive daycare (the kids were abusive to him) so I grew up with a rabbit, I'm a tween/teen but I am mature and don't go to people's houses/ parties all the time so I will have much time, my family has a GOOD income, I am pretty neat/tidy. So thats it. What do you think?

    Hi there I have just come across your bunny guides and I love them. I have 2 bunnies one is a red New Zealand Rex and the other is an angora dwarf. My Rex has full freedom of the garden and house when she pleases but she prefers being outside and my little angora dwarf has a cage because she's small enought to fit through our front fence. They share the home with 4 dogs and 3 cats and all get on very well.
    We live in South Africa and I couldn't imagine not having my bunny babies but I often get asked where people can get one and I tell them exactly what you have said in your insert

    So what was the good thing about having a pet rabbit?

  • @catherineropp5362
    @catherineropp5362 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is nothing wrong with getting a rabbit for a child as long as you do it the right way. The child isn't the one totally taking care of the animal by it's self. And, it can be a lot of fun to get a rabbit when the whole family is involved in taking care of the rabbit together. I grew up as a member of 4H when I was 9. I got my first rabbit at age 9. She lived outside and she was my best friend! Even tho she was outside she got attention everyday. In the winter she and our other rabbits were inside. We learned a lot about rabbit care as members of 4H. It was amazing growing up and learning about all these different breeds of rabbits. I grew up raising Holland Lops. Now that I'm in my 30's I have 3 rabbits as indoor pets. I have 2 mini rex sisters and a holland lop. I've noticed a lot of things that have changed in rabbit care from when I was a child to now. And it's a very big change! I still don't understand why there has been a change like this. It seems like now that rabbits are a more common house pet things are changing. There was nothing wrong with how out rabbits were taken care of then. I still know people that take care of their rabbits like I had learned. Our rabbits still live long happy lives. Why is there a need of this is wrong this is right? There is always talk of how rabbits are different from cats and dogs, but if you look at their diet and all as being house pets there is something in common. At the same time some people aren't able to have their pets inside. It doesn't mean they aren't cared for. I always find it hurtful when that comment came up. I wasn't allowed to have mine inside all the time when u was a child. When they were inside they were in the basement. I would sleep right in the basement with them. I was glued to my rabbits as a child and still today! They are my fur babies and they are spoiled!

    People exaggerate and project about rabbits being fearful. I've noticed some owners' bunnies run from them, and other owners' bunnies who welcome being picked up and cuddled. Depends on how the owner conditions him or socializes him.

    As a new owner of a bunny, I have spent well over $300.00 because I got her a giant house, and hay and good food. I have small children but they know to not get in her space. She does wonder around the house and does her "binkys".I spend alot of time with her and take her with me when I travel. People think bunnys can just be left in a cage that's not true. So to young kids who want a bunny just do some research, my bunny is a sweetheart. Just know come facts before getting one.
