    Been there in summer- not so bad. Sad that a country with some of the purest air in the countryside has some of the most polluted in the city.

    I live in Ulaanbaatar and I cannot tell you how polluted it is in the winter..... even though I live in the center of the city.

      TFB that area is still polluted but much better than the other areas.

    Mongolian government need to develop its provinces or small towns so that it won’t lead to such congestion in ger-district in which coal burning area would be reduced in UB.

      Ulan Bator is the Russian version of Ulaanbaatar. The spelling stems from the days of the USSR. :)

      @@bheemboyharish3263 Ulaanbaatar (/ˌuːlɑːn ˈbɑːtər/; Mongolian: Улаанбаатар, [ʊɮɑːm.bɑːtʰɑ̆r], lit. "Red Hero"), formerly anglicised as Ulan Bator - Just cut & pasted that for you, BH. I lived there for nearly 3 years. Too cold for me. :)

    On the steppes, families burn animal waste for fuel, which is cleaner than coal

      There are 3 million Mongolians and 35 Million head of livestock in Mongolia. Perhaps if they brought all the livestock into Ulaanbaatar, they could do away with the deadly, soft-coal, power-stations. Either way, they are in the poo. :(

      @@SuperTsogo No, the livestock. That would include a supply of meat & enough methane to power UB & surrounds, without using soft coal. Then, perhaps not. :(
