Every Christian is called to go into the world and make disciples. But how do we actually do this?
Today, Fr. Mike tells us that before we can live out the mission of the Church, one thing is needed: a personal relationship with Jesus and his Church. Without this relationship, our missionary efforts simply become another well-meaning chore or good deed. Our relationship with Christ gives our works meaning and purpose. It is vital, then, that our missionary identity be rooted in a personal relationship with Jesus and his Church.

Recently I’ve had experienced strong conversion. The Holy Spirit has released me from the chains of my repeated sins, so much so that thinking about my past disgusts me. Prayer has been at my priority list as well as fasting. But I have been in that phase where I wanna do so much but I’ve been learning that I must first focus on building my trust on Him and within my own family before I can do with what comes next. Even before my conversion God has been showing me how to be patient, but most importantly how much I cannot do things myself. And this message just confirms what He has been showing me throughout my journey.

Your gospel isn't the same as ours. The true Gospel is:
      1. God created man in his image
      2. Man sinned and needs a Saviour from God's wrath and judgement and sin
      3. *Jesus died so we can be saved by his grace through our faith in him* and reconciled back to God (John 6:3, John 6:40, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5)

@@ijustcamefrombiblestudy2243 On point no. 2 you said “man needs to be saved” yes we do and that is why God sent his only son, Son of Man; God in flesh, to save us. He was raised up so we can see salvation through Jesus/Himself just like Moses when he was instructed to raise a snake on a poll so that the his people maybe saved from snake bites (symbolic because Jesus saves us from sin when we turn to him). But then you mentioned from God’s wrath. You are implying that God commits one of the deadly sins. He does not. Rather he is a loving God and is a just One. He gives us many warning/opportunities to turn from our ways of the wickedness but understands that there is so much He can do before judgment is given when we chose to disobey/ignore Him. He doesn’t take a liking in destroying but does what is just in His judgment.

    Father Mike,
My name is Evan. i’m 22 now and have been dealing with scrupulosity for 4 years now. at the beginning i was worried about things like “i’m lying because i didn’t really read the terms and conditions” or “i’m too scared that Saturday is still the day i’m supposed to worship and rest on”. i’ve grown over the years and understand why they are wrong (at least the saturday one), but now i’m dealing with things like Romans 14:23 where “But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin”. This terrifies me since now i feel that all the things i let go of in the past 4 years that i was only “pretty sure” wasn’t a sin have to be prevented again. it has brought me to tears even at work sometimes with anxiety, stress, and doubt of the faith that my mind has even had thoughts of giving up the faith or even thoughts of suicide (neither of which do i have ANY intention of doing right now, but i’m scarred that will change someday if this gets worse). i don’t know if i understand romans 14 the way it was intended, so im hoping i don’t have to go down that road from my past again, but i don’t want to just “ignore it” because it seems incredibly hard for me. i’ve been talking to a priest for the good part of these 4 years, but he seems so lenient on what’s sinful now and i’m unsure if it’s because it’s the truth or if he just doesn’t want me to worry anymore. i tried asking another priest and he disagreed with my long-term priest who i’ve worked with on this scrupulosity, so i don’t know if i can even trust him anymore. i don’t know what i’m required to do and i just want to feel free again. What should i do? Am i required to refrain from everything that i have any doubts on whether it’s sinful (like reading terms and conditions or what jokes i’m allowed to make or laugh at)?
    P.S.
some of the things i asked the two priests were the following:
    1. can i make jokes about cultural accents when i think they sound funny?
    2. When does eating too much sugar/added sugar become glutinous?
    3. is complaining a sin if i just want to verbalize that i’m upset even if i’m just composing at home alone out loud while playing a game or thinking about my day?
    4. is being competitive and wanting to be better at my hobbies than others who do it a sinful pride or a good pride? i want everyone to do their best but i feel bad when others constantly beat me.
    5. i have an eccentric person skirt with wanting to ignore social norms that i find oppressive and worry that not trying to fit into my culture’s norms will cause others to either dislike me or be scandalized and not want to be apart of the faith do to my eccentricities/disregard for those norms. (the norms i’m referring to is like being slightly louder at group gatherings, tons of joking, and not keeping my car clean).
    6. is being headstrong(as in being stubborn and wanting to do things your own way regardless of outside opinion) (and liking being that way) a sin?

And yet we're currently told 'NOT to proselytize'. We're currently told 'God permits a diversity of religions', so why evangelize? We're currently told that 'everyone is a child of God', when they haven't been adopted by Him yet through repentance. False gospels are dangerous. Glad to see you still preach the truth. We need to be in relationship with the Son. 1 John 5:12 says “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” Fraternal dialogue that never shares Christ is useless...

I talk to God all the time. I don't pray repetitive prayers because He hears me the first time when I petition Him or thank Him for what He's given to me. So like I'll ask Him to watch over my father and help him with his health but I never keep repeating what I've said to God multiple times like everyday. Same thing when I thank Him for something He's done for me I don't keep thanking Him repetitively for the same thing over and over again. If I were in God's shoes and heard the same thing over and over again it would literally become annoying. I don't think He requires a constant reminder this is what I think Jesus was talking about.
Normally people generally ask God for material things I discovered He tends to like prayers made for other people. One of my petitions to Him was that I would like to have knowledge so that I could share this knowledge with others.

    • @3Diva
      @3Diva ปีที่แล้ว +1

"If I were in God's shoes and heard the same thing over and over again it would literally become annoying." God has patience beyond anything we humans can grasp and I doubt he gets "annoyed" with things like repetition in prayer. As long as you're praying in truth and paying full attention to the intention of your prayers I think it's entirely ok to repeat prayers. The danger in repetition in prayers though is that it can become robotic and some can begin to not really give full attention and intention into what they're saying and just "go through the motions".
A lot of people's prayers can be repetitious, such as when people say grace before a meal, or the bedtime prayer of "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep", or the recital of any prayer on a regular basis. It's important to put intent and real meaning behind the words you pray, to MEAN every word, and not just go through the motions. That's why I prefer individualized and personalized words in my prayers over reciting prayers. It's far too easy when reciting a prayer to just go through the motions and not have real thought and intention behind every word you pray.
As for praying for the safety and health of family daily, I think that can be a great thing and not "annoying" to the Lord at all. We're putting intention and thought toward those people when we pray for them and about them. That's a good thing, IMO. :) And thanking God too, every day, several times a day, is a wonderful thing. Thanking Him for the good He's done invites more of same into your life. It's letting Him know "I see and receive what you've done for me, and am ready and thankful for whatever else you wish to send my way". Even repeating thankfulness in prayer for the same thing is praising Him for those things. Instead of being annoyed, I believe God loves when we speak to him and frequently send up our prayers, even if we repeat ourselves. As long as there is real intention behind every word we pray.

Of course, science in relation with God was usually the topic of their choice and I often spoke on such subjects in my relentless pursuit of God.
