  • Two employees accused of racially profiling a black guest in the lobby of a Hilton DoubleTree Hotel in Oregon are on leave Friday morning. The hotel apologized a second time to Jermaine Massey, who in widely shared Instagram videos claimed he was targeted for "calling his mother while black." DeMarco Morgan reports.

How can it sound like anything you don't have anything more than one man's word.
CBS does no one any favors with this bad reporting. Where is the police body cameras? Is there any footage? CBS says police say the man claims to be former FBI? If Massey did that and is not former FBI his credibility is toast. If he IS FORMER FBI that's bad news for Earl and the hotel. They didn't even ask Massey if he said it let alone see if there is any body cams of the incident....and so far I've not found any full video anywhere from Massey showing even all of what he recorded. It may not show the initial exchange but there's nothing in what they've shown that supports his allegations.
Over a period of more than a decade I fostered kids mostly of color. We had about 4 incidents I believed were racially motivated in that time all of which were addressed quickly and correctly. And in truth raising my kids in a very white community the experience was overwhelmingly great in the sense the kids were judged by their character not the color of their skin. No one will come to our family to hear about how the kids are doing great in the middle class. Heck, one of the kids is now a cop in a tiny department. His older all white more experienced cops made him their guy representing them in union negotiations.
But the media has their narrative and in this case they didn't even really try to get to the truth.

The hotel is private property, if you're asked your room number, or if you're a guest staying in the hotel, and you can't prove that to the person asking, while lounging with your feet up on the couch as shown in the full length video, you're going to get asked to leave. If you refuse, they have the right to trespass you from the property and to have the police remove you. The police's job at that point is ONLY to remove you from the property. Not to investigate, not to find out who is wrong or right, not to resolve a dispute. You're on private property, its the law.

The next year we went to a family reunion and naturally I wanted to take her. The older women were like really old. One of them took her away from me. I was screaming and crying, so I followed the lady with my baby doll. She went and sat down and I’m screaming and crying, so my older sister went to get out daddy. My daddy was so mad. I won’t say what he said about it for one thing because I was so young all I remember is my daddy was mad and he got my baby doll back. But when I was older my sisters told me about that. And my daddy told me when I asked him. The main thing I remember is that that old lady took my baby doll and I got her back because daddy took care of it. But guess what? We never saw thst old lady again. In case you didn’t realize it I’m a white girl. My baby doll stayed with me till I married. I fivally gave her up to a young child in our family. • @Khadijah_time

Tucker Johnson We all KNOW it’s a public area for GUESTS at that (any any other) hotel. And he couldn’t possibly be loitering as an actual guest. Stop it, your justifications are obviously not warranted given the evidence.
Really, who remembers a room number they received then took a call which totally distracts them? Saying he didn’t remember doesn’t warrant being told to leave without a refund for a service he NEVER received, you KNOW that. And like he said in the video, there were plenty other guests that were NOT asked for proof of that fact. At that point, it was very obvious HE was TARGETED. For whatever reason is anyone’s guess. I’ve actually had people my race act the SAME way. Some people are not suited for certain jobs. People in that position are supposed to DEESCALATE issues, not the opposite.
Did the man get upset, of course, anyone would depending on their state of mind at that particular time. Everyone has a story. However, logical people don’t condone such behavior, racism or not. Free your mind and the rest will follow. ✌🏾
