A Tampa woman and her sister are sharing video with FOX 13 of an encounter they say is unfair treatment at a Hampton Inn in Lake Park, Georgia, and wonder if it has anything to do with their race.
At the very least, Mary Williams says the clerk referring to them as "you people" is a major failure in customer service.

I had a problem with Hilton Double tree. I reached out to Hilton Corporate a few months back and still haven't heard back. Racism starts from the top.
As someone who has worked in CS, these 2 women would be a dream to help. They remained calm the whole time, super respectful even when they had every right to get upset. That GM is an awful human being & her behavior despicable. I bet it sucked to work for her too.

Wow, I've worked in customer service for years and I understand complaints can be stressful especially if they are unrealistic and the customer is being rude, but these women had a legitimate issuse and were extremely polite and respectful, there is no reason the manager should have acted in that manner. "Fools, pathetic things, you people"??? Its about to be 2019 let's get it together!
You should see the full video. They actually did not have a legitimate issue that the hotel could do anything about. They had reserved the room through a 3rd party app, then it was somehow canceled via that company (perhaps card payment didn't go through? Or some other technical glitch.) The desk clerk very politely explained the situation, and offered to allow them to re-purchase the room, or to contact the 3rd party service. The women refused to take either of these steps, instead just choosing to continued to hassle the 2 employees for 10+ minutes. Eventually, she lost patience, and asked them to leave. She threatened to call--and then did call--the police, who escorted them out.
You don't know they were respectful... They could have said anything and then turned on the video on the phone.
I'm afraid that we only got to see one side of the story here on this video. I admit it looks bad for the lady working behind the counter to behave that way, but you don't get a job like that without being a somewhat reasonable person. As others here are saying, the timing is very one sided. Also, if police escorted them out, then is the police also deemed a racist for not siding with the two black ladies? I'll come to that conclusion for you, not racist.
I’ve had women act completely belligerent toward me and I still maintained my composure and took the best plan of action. I had a lady call me an asshole and dumb ass for no reason and I told her that she could either speak to me nicely and I can help her or she can take her stuff and go. It was all over a couple simple returns. She came in and immediately had an attitude and was being hateful. She calmed down enough for me to do the transaction. I was super polite throughout the whole thing but you better believe I called her a crazy ass bitch once she left 😂😂 As frustrating as it can be, it’s not hard to maintain your composure & tell the psycho customers what’s up in a nice way. But these two ladies were soooo polite and there was no reason for that manager to get out of line like that!

as an ex Hilton employee, ive had similar situations happen where they booked thru the Hilton app and on my end it showed up as cancelled. It literally takes two seconds to reinstate their reservation. there's no reason for her to have to pay. plus points or a free room for the inconvenience is almost mandatory. this could've been solved soooo simply..

I have to say that I have a property and there were some individuals squatting next door. One was white and one was black. They were stealing and selling items and the selling drugs. They were using my parking lot to conduct their “business”. I had told them I didn’t want their “customers” on my property. Once I was there and the black man was once again doing business with someone who was on my property. I told him, “Tell your people I don’t want them on my parking lot.” Later I realized he probably thought I meant black people and that I was racist. It had absolutely nothing to do with race. “your people” meant “your customers”. I would have used the same words had I been talking to the white man. Maybe a better choice of words would have been “the criminals you do business with.” But it had NOTHING to do with race. There were all races of people who were involved. Now I am probably going to get hated on for my comment. But the people who know me know I am not racist.

This exact thing happened to my neighbor(who is Haitian/American) who was racially harrased by the manager of a hotel who ordered him to leave the motel and forced out by security even though he had a room there for 3 days and still had another full day left. He got himself a lawyer and sued the hotel chain for racial profiling and emotional distress for $790,880.00 and he won his case. I hope the best for these woman and a speedy recovery from the emotional distress this hotel staff must have imposed on them.

The USA used to be known for customer satisfaction , how it's standard practice in most premises to disregard the customer and make them feel helpless . This is part of a social shift to give this feeling from law enforcement to travel on planes and eating in well known establishment , it's all meant to make the people feel helpless and have no backup because of the division they also push in society .
I'm a 40 yr. Old white female, and I've seen people discriminated for their race too many times. Even my child, who is multi-racial was discriminated right in front of me, by a white women who thought my 7 year old son was standing too close to her. I will always stand up for anyone who is discriminated against, no matter the reason. It's absolutely disgusting that people are so ignorant. We've come a long way America but we still have a long ways to go. I hope the lovely woman in the video got her apology at the very least. Bless her for having to deal with this.

Actually the phrase you people isn’t racist at all and I’m pretty sure she was just referring to people that complain with their stuff for no reason. The woman didn’t have a reservation in the computer and they gave her the best room they could. While she did act out of customer service policies, the two black women also should have been grateful for the room they got and not threaten her with the fact that she works for corporate.

In this case they got another room, but that new room still wasn't satisfactory. Should she have known how to handle it better based on past experience? I don't know. I hardly know any facts of this case because all we have is one side. I do know that there is no evidence that referring to them as "you people" means racism.

Of course the "service" was awful, but am I the only one out there who notices that the confirmation screenshot says her reservation was for July 21st, and in the clip it says it was for the 27th? Guest made the reservation for the wrong date, and it was cancelled when she didn't show up on the 21st. This absolutely does not justify the service, but the guest made a mistake here they are not fessing up to and the news channel is glossing over unless the reporter accidentally said "27th".

There are many times in the recent past when the term racism is applied improperly. But not here, this manager was full on racist, and extremely rude and condescending. I'm glad she was terminated. I hope by now (a few year's later, this just showed up in my TH-cam) that Hilton has taken some action to make amends with these guests.
