Nikhil, this is not meant to be critical for the sake of it, but genuine feedback: if you want to know what the real Gen-Z is thinking, please reach out to the people that take out massive loans to go abroad and land up in jobs that make them unhappy, those that are studying for 5+ years to get into IIT/NLS/AIIMS and then don't make it, or those that struggle through engineering college/MBAs to get into jobs that are part of the corporate rat race because that's what their vision for "traditional success" was. The members of this panel are exceptional in their own way. Privileged or not, I'm taking nothing away from their accomplishments. However, I'm someone with immense privilege myself and even I found this conversation "out of reach" from my personal experiences.

For all those screaming privilege, these 20 year old Zepto Bros. have used their previlege incredibly well! Extremely well spoken, humble, data driven and inspiring to all age groups!
"Privilege this privilege that" these guys just want an excuse to be lazy and not do anything to maximize their earning potential. In the end your parents didn't do as well their parents. Not a bad thing, but you should try to get there instead of being jealous.
basically old age people are traditional and so are their ways of income , their pace of life can never match the pace of these kids , they had their own perks - Stability , but GEN-Z has theirs - Versatility and Improvisation. The main factor that makes them better in many ways , well see my comment for an example could have gone either way but , did I? Ig not.
I work with young adolescents on a daily basis, especially "Gen Z", and while this conversation was very interesting and the group at the table had cool perspectives, I must say that they barely represented the ground reality of what middle-class Gen Z is thinking and doing.
First of all, thank you very much, Nikhil Sir, for inviting people from different backgrounds. I belong to a small village in Bihar and am currently pursuing graduation. I currently live in a tier 3 city, and I learn about graphic design, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship on the side. I found the story of the Zepto brothers very inspiring. I hope that I too will start a business in the future, even if it's a small one.
Nikhil is so smart. Sometimes I feel he is just doing the podcast to get a new idea for his next venture. In this case, he is thinking how to build a brand for GenZ.
absolutely. he asked the zepto bros a lot of unit economics and internal information (which they happily gave, kudos to their spirit! which is what GenZ is a lot about). but yeah Nikhil wasn't even being sneaky on this one. he's just getting in the middle of the largest upcoming consumer segment 😄
Building a brand for gen z is short sighted. Gen z will grow up. Build a good brand and do everything to remain relevant and.. if it's good the young generations would champion your cause.
Coming to amazing insights that podcast shared: - Some people always favor convenience over economics (UPI - Navya's thought process, over credit cards - Nikhil's thought process). Clearly the goods at all such stores that accept credit cards are priced to include the credit card MDR (fees merchants pay to financial ecosystem for accepting credit cards). - KV is relatively so silent throughout the conversation. We need to give him more time to speak. He feels like the silent wise person, who waits patiently for opportunity to talk. - Really amazed to learn about backgrounds of all the guests on the show. People jump into judging individuals (as Navya said, she knows what people are thinking of her before she walks in the room full of those very people) but do not care enough to learn about their individual backgrounds. - Aadit's awareness about economic principles, about investment ecosystem, and the overall business acumen he demonstrates is quite wow for someone at his age. I totally envy this much intellectual growth at such as early stage in life. Nikhil's point about so many things, - like going deep deep down, childhood influences us in very deep way, documenting thoughts - 🤯, - the perception of our actions that were once just a joke (kinda JK) eventually can be misconstrued into something totally different. - Eliminate drama in your life. - Situations are often dramatic but more often than not people are dramatic and they draw that into your life. - Document and then eliminate people who bring unnecessary drama (Charlie Munger says - Exceptions to this are always there, e.g. family - so be mindful) All this advice, I kinda feel I have also observed in one form or another as a result of listening to Annual Meetings of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger (BRK Annual meeting recordings on CNBC)
Tara may seem a misfit but that is due to the sheer idealism she has n lives in. The rest of them are more business oriented and practical. Tara seems like a person who is a master of soft skills but doesnt have nor want to have much experience of the real world. I dont think there's anything wrong with that. We definitely need idealistic ppl who add beauty, romance, goodness and love to the world!
nope, these people are'nt idealistic, but disconnected from reality bcoz of the extreme privilege and pampering they grew up in. It's not naive but idiotic
I totally agree with you. Tara's point that we don't encourage arts enough can also be seen here where we don't appreciate soft , artistic people enough. Perhaps it's the nature of this podcast, but everyone is hell bent on being business oriented, ground reality , solid proofs . Why can't you appreciate someone for the goodness they represent. I absolutely loved her story, how introverted she has been and how innocently clumsy she is. She doesn't belong to the profession they all somewhere are part of . Then why are we expecting her to know the everything about business and what the middle class wants

You should also check the 10000 crores they have spent to acquire those customers and reach 5000 crs. They are in major losses as well. Some VC’s are uplifting the uplifted
Loved this part: "Your ability to evolve is highest in isolation. If you're around people, you are gonna be biased by virtue of your surroundings." The absolute truth.

I beleive the guests coming have some personal connection with Nikhil and thus make it for this conversation. Keep it coming, Nikhil. Would love to hear a conversation with folks having a drink or two and conversation being more candid.
75 rupees per hour is unbelievable. If someone works for 6 hours for 30 days without leaves they’ll earn 13.5k. These delivery partners are grossly underpaid!
Correct. They are underpaid. But will you pay 200 rupees delivery fees per order for a 100-1000 rupee order value? If yes, then please do tip the delivery guy next time you order. Many do this as a side gig, so they look at it as an additional income not their main source of income. The gig work makes them contribute and earn rather than struggle to get a regular job. Zepto or other quick commerce companies ofcourse need to step up and figure out minimum wage and fair working conditions, but they have not yet figured out how the business really makes money and so this is unfortunately not their priority.
The profound insights of a business and other aspects these guys are sharing at their age is something one could expect to be heard from a seasoned professional. Discussing the future with the top 0.001% does not reflect the state of nature where most youngsters are today in India. The guests in this podcast might be spending the same amount of money on clothes as the same person of their age is earning in a year. All the guests are from highly well-to-do families and are where they are today primarily due to their wealthy background. Case in point, the Zepto bros first got into Stanford, declined the offer, and then built the startup meanwhile youngsters and students are hardly able to pay their college fees in India let alone dream of applying to Stanford, declining the offer and starting a company. (P.S I'm not denying the efforts of Zepto bros but they were able to do all this primarily due to their affluent family background) I know they're in your social circle and thus are in the podcast but please try to bring more accurate and self-made people on the podcast

I am a podcast lover -watched like 300-350 podcast. Seriously,This is the best podcast for 24 years old like me- which i watched completely without forwarding.
Supremely enriching conversation in many ways. Even as a 22 year old urban Indian guy this feels too heavy to fathom but the fact that the folks at the "big seats" are not completely dumbfound and out of touch, on the contrary seem to be all things optimistic. You can't judge a person through an episode but even if a bit polished these perspectives were quiet informed and decent.
As a mother of the gen z , my opinion ( with my kids in the same school in dubai ) Our generation has done well and as parents have indulged the gen z, bcaz of which these kids do not feel the need for any material stuff. Material stuff is actually handed to them before they even ask for it, by these indulgent parents. These kids who do not have this greed for material stuff, can have the mindspace to think about renting stuff , going after careers after their heart, can afford to drop out of stanford and all such risky acts. They have the confidence of parental support. You need to even interview kids who have tried going down this path, starting with the confidence that things will work out, but it hasnt, and now are living a miserable life. What are they doing now? Do they regret not having giving themselves an alternative. Or having gone in for the education they didnt
When you say "living a miserable life" then it's obvious that they haven't calculated the risk well. I think it's good to take risks when you're young and have parental support as backup is also good but one should take calculative risk and should also know their risk appetite. Even if they fail they learn a lot but for that too one needs a learning mindset. Taking risks is not bad but taking non calculative risks makes one's life miserable.
@@pcodes see you are right but if the parents are economically very strong then it becomes easy to take risk. In case that risk leads to the loss in future, still the parents are supportive because they know that the loss will be similar to the penny + mindset my child going to learn something and create something by his own hands. If you mirror the whole case then you will find that although the failure probability is 1%, a middle class one fails to have such audacity because the one is afraid of that 1% instead of being confident for that 99%.
There’s no such thing as “one thing didn’t work out and hence they will live a miserable life forever,” humans have always extricated themselves out of the worst of situations and rebuilt their lives many a times in one life. Even my parents failed, experimented, fumbled, tried again, and then tried again, in the 80s, irrespective of how much their parents supported them (or not). They came into success and more stability only after 35-40 maybe. Human life isn’t as simple as we try to reduce it to be, in order to scare our children into doing what WE want them to do :)
This is not India's gen z, these are some lucky kids who happened to study abroad even from their school days. Real India would have been those who have faced the challenges of India in their childhood and grown up to be real successful.

One of the most important thing that all of them are missing behind all these entrepreneurial marvels (apart from hard work) is: LUCK. My two cents … entrepreneurship has a direct correlation to family background ( risk appetite ) even if the background helps in taking care of the basics ( education and the Roti- Kapda- Makan ) so not necessarily rich … the kids have more appetite for risk and hence a move to entrepreneurship

Totally agree with Navya's thoughts on entrepreneurship. People from a lower-income background look at business as a risk but yes... exposure to stories of success of people from similar age groups but most importantly similar economic backgrounds might change that mindset. A Navya or an Adit or KV might not be enough. They might want to see people who went to regular schools in India, with fewer contacts to network succeed at entrepreneurship.

For all those screaming privilege, these 20 year old Zepto Bros. have used their previlege incredibly well! Extremely well spoken, humble, data driven and inspiring to all age groups!
Stop bootlicking. Privelege through generational wealth english speaking skill is not exceptional thing to do
"Privilege this privilege that" these guys just want an excuse to be lazy and not do anything to maximize their earning potential. In the end your parents didn't do as well their parents. Not a bad thing, but you should try to get there instead of being jealous.
haa jaake chus le uska
yeah I too thought they were talking like, with 30 40 years of experience but I guess GENZs are really like that especially from tier 1 cities
basically old age people are traditional and so are their ways of income , their pace of life can never match the pace of these kids , they had their own perks - Stability , but GEN-Z has theirs - Versatility and Improvisation.
This.
thankfully someone's saying it !
In this case, he is thinking how to build a brand for GenZ.
absolutely. he asked the zepto bros a lot of unit economics and internal information (which they happily gave, kudos to their spirit! which is what GenZ is a lot about). but yeah Nikhil wasn't even being sneaky on this one. he's just getting in the middle of the largest upcoming consumer segment 😄
exactly, all these podcasts are running are unsaid survey for his next venture.
He is, we ought to use these podcasts as well, he is doing philanthropy by letting out these podcasts for free
Building a brand for gen z is short sighted. Gen z will grow up. Build a good brand and do everything to remain relevant and.. if it's good the young generations would champion your cause.

@@---_---_---_---_---_---poor Nikhil 😢
Coming to amazing insights that podcast shared:
- Some people always favor convenience over economics (UPI - Navya's thought process, over credit cards - Nikhil's thought process).
Nikhil's point about so many things,
- like going deep deep down, childhood influences us in very deep way, documenting thoughts - 🤯,
- the perception of our actions that were once just a joke (kinda JK) eventually can be misconstrued into something totally different.
- Eliminate drama in your life.
- Situations are often dramatic but more often than not people are dramatic and they draw that into your life.
- Document and then eliminate people who bring unnecessary drama (Charlie Munger says - Exceptions to this are always there, e.g. family - so be mindful)
All this advice, I kinda feel I have also observed in one form or another as a result of listening to Annual Meetings of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger (BRK Annual meeting recordings on CNBC)
thank you for summarizing ✌👏

75 rupees per hour is unbelievable. If someone works for 6 hours for 30 days without leaves they’ll earn 13.5k. These delivery partners are grossly underpaid!
Not even a dollar an hour!
they usually work 10-12 hours
Disadvantage of gig economy .
Of all delivery companies in India, warehouse executives and delivery boys are paid the lowest by zepto, and highest by Amazon.

(P.S I'm not denying the efforts of Zepto bros but they were able to do all this primarily due to their affluent family background)

As a mother of the gen z , my opinion ( with my kids in the same school in dubai )
Our generation has done well and as parents have indulged the gen z, bcaz of which these kids do not feel the need for any material stuff.
I must add that my kids also fall in this category
@@jaydoshi6824 Exactly. Fear of failure is one of the major factors that most people don't even try.
Nikhil is so good at this! Nobody can feel odd one out and actually share whats meaningful
This is not India's gen z, these are some lucky kids who happened to study abroad even from their school days. Real India would have been those who have faced the challenges of India in their childhood and grown up to be real successful.

Nobody she is also part talk she also done so much before Bollywood she sung opera and done disney she is the finalist at Aladdin movie plz just don't disrespect just bcz she is came from different profession.
Just you skipped her bro
Totally agree with Navya's thoughts on entrepreneurship. People from a lower-income background look at business as a risk but yes... exposure to stories of success of people from similar age groups but most importantly similar economic backgrounds might change that mindset. A Navya or an Adit or KV might not be enough. They might want to see people who went to regular schools in India, with fewer contacts to network succeed at entrepreneurship.
so you're saying lower income source family's don't get into business? wake up to reality
@@GanggsterR No. I'm not saying they never do but I'd rather opt for a job that pays me every month than risk what I have to make it big when it's a question of survival. So, I'm saying that people from other backgrounds should also be brought in, in order to provide motivation. I'm saying such success stories would be more impactful.
@@keerthanakunnamvally116 that's not his target audience...he'll bring rich and affluent people..and that's what people want to see! This is not a Josh talk channel
@@GanggsterR So according to you Nikhil's collecting funds at the end of every episode for people who already have monetary backing?
@@keerthanakunnamvally116 previously you were talking about the content now you talking about sponsorships and funding?
Was hooked on till the end, great conversations with amazing people, everyone was so well-spoken and presented such beautiful perspectives!
As a non privileged gen z kid i can confirm these guys know hell lotta more than me. Great podcast. also, petition to bring paras chopra continues.
Shout out to Navya. Even though she is born in so much fame & forttune. But she is trying to make her mark in social enterprise. Even though she could be a full time Bollywood doll or a business leader.
Enjoyed this podcast, not as I expected but Nikhil Kamath really know who to keep people connected. Amazing all over
Please do a roundtable with:
- Karan Johar
- Sidhharth Roy Kapoor
- Zoya Akhtar
- Adi Chopra
Topic : Business of Bollywood!
Politics
Drugs
Sex
Aur baap ka Paisa these are the reason Bollywood does business
@@ffghj558we don't care what the reason is. The topic is just to know how the business runs, how their economics work, what are the different opportunities other than being an actor in the movie business, etc.
nooooo please God no ... we see enough of them already and that nepotism topic. maybe not adi chopra but rest ..we are fed up of hearing them
28:20 : 😂😂😂 Nikhils reply to he's making money is epic. Highlight of the podcast
Tbh this is the most knowledgeable podcast I have watched which was very informative, funny, and insightful. Also love how each one of them is trying to be their own self and creating their own image aside from their family's image!!
precisely!
Navya is very mature and aware about middle class and tier 2 cities thought process
the White T-shirt guy was trying soo hard to woo Navya the entire video because hey as a guy we know the looks he was trying to make. But the best part she said Kid to him 🤣🤣🤣
Instead of 'sitting at home' these so called priveleged kids have actually put in the hard work and managed to be indias first unicorn company as we speak. Nothing but love and support man.
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣 kitna bhola h Bhai tu or chutiya bhi
India's first unicorn? First unicorn of 2023.
Ok thanks for the correction brother much love
I fell in love with Navya as I watched this show.

Nikhil your content consumers mostly can't just process POV from someone who has privilege.. they just want to belong somewhere so keeps asking for some under privileged hero. That's the thing with today's generation as well, they want to belong somewhere and relate to someone. As Tara said relatibility is what is another thing that's driving content industry. She's smart, and this comment section is an example for the same.
Truly said
if u have 100rs u can spend 100rs , u consumer wants to know how to make 10 rs to 100 rs
Indeed a good episode. Nikhil's questions were very crisp. KV answered most questions straight to the point but I felt Aadit was just beating around the bush.
What Aadit did is lowkey an MBA skill
Great intellectual and inspirational talk :) for me it doesn’t matter one is privileged or not but with what they do about it and help other grow with them is something I always admired Navya for her project naveli .
