You were righ man, she just won the US Open and I just watched the news for the controversy that she apologized for winning, I feel so bad for her. I'm not a Tennis fan and now I'm here watching old videos and I am her new fan, she's awesome and very natural humble human being and I hope that fame does not change her.
Some people complain that asking her what her favorite drink which is tea is a waste of time. Am glad she answers that question,it give me glue why she is a healthy player. Green tea is good for heath. Better than drinking soda. My amateur thinking.
Still they should not have bood anybody during the presentation of awards, just really rude. So sad that she even apologized for winning when she don't even need to do that. She deserve her win
Love how Naomi also took time to answer the japanese questions with the same patience and sincerity, while most non native japanese interviewers already left the room, this shows she has quite a connection with her Japanese heritage.
Sad.... you have adults asking this young lady some of the strangest questions. But I love her responses to some of the questions and her facial reactions. It's like the creepy person on the street asking you a question
Naomi could win back to back trophies and be number 1, and her feet will be still grounded. Such a lovely humble lady It really is a pleasure watching her ♥️
Naomi, you are a breath of fresh air, to the tennis world. Remain humble and Steadfast. I see you accomplishing many goal. Watching from afar. Your Caribbean fan. Nassau.
the question at 1:21 seemed a bit hostile because it seemed like the reporter was trying to get her to say that she had more support in the US than in japan. such is a ridiculous premise because most of naomi's endorsement deals are based in japan. one thing that is kind of unique about naomi is that she is developing into a true international star player. it is good that naomi has been taking questions from japanese reporters in japanese in the last few tournaments. she has done a few interviews where she answered in japanese, but it looks like she is working on her spoken japanese so i would expect that next year she might start answering questions in japanese on a regular basis.
Sometimes "strange" can be interesting. Journalist and bloggers ask different kinds of questions to get interesting off beat eclectic human story angles. For example, Naomi was asked about green tea, training, biracial ethnicity, movie types, NY shopping, coaching style, her dual citizenship, her family upbringing, training tips, etc. Celebrities and public personas generate all kinds of interesting stories for editorial, endorsement, and commercial purposes. This can begin with "strange" and out of the ordinary questions. Asking about her favorite hot and cold drinks is one way drink and beverage companies will brand their products and possibly endorse her. I would not be surprised if a beverage company comes up with more "green tea" types of drinks and even have her endorse it. I find Naomi's answers, as a 20 year old, to be very interesting, enlightening, and relevant. Love the way she talked about playing video games when one reporter asked her. Video games companies could endorse her, as any other athlete. It's big multi million dollar business and Naomi's character will most likely be added to sports merchandising, video games, drinks, fashion, and other products along side many other athletes. Congrats to both Naomi and Serena for their contributions to tennis and for making it to the finals.
To know what a champion's favorite hot and cold drinks are can prove of benefit to the player in terms of getting a lucrative endorsement from, say a sports drink company. I hope that's why they asked her that. I hope that developers for her. I know I would try her favorite green tea drink (hot or cold) just because I like her,
Always Surprised it not a waste of time. Green tea is good for health. Diet can play role in being a healthy player. My amateur thinking. So am think about drinking more tea.
Maybe the coaches should be punished for coaching or attempting to coach instead of the players. They could be warned, quietly, maybe by way of a visit by an official, without disrupting the match. If they persist, then the coach could be fined and removed from the stadium. What say ye??
Reporters should ask more questions about player's mindset during each play. I thought it was funny when she debated play strategy at the play. Some players always have funny and cute moment to recall the moment. Press conference won't be too boring that way. Naomi, you are cute super tennis star.
in another interview in Australia they said you must be proud to represent Japan and she said," my dad is Haitian, Represent!" You would be proud of her!
Why are people obsess by her race? It is horrible how everything that matter for some is not the character but the race...She said in her last interview when ask if she was identifying as mixed etc.. she said no that she was raised to identify as herself. And she is right. Peo0le are angry that she has the dual citizenship American / Japanese and that she play for Japan. She seems not ashamed of her dad culture she said she was playing in Australia for Jap and Haitians. Stop by racist. She is mixed but represents Japan officially. Where is the problem ? Maybe her dad s country could offer her the nationality too and then problem semi solved.
She is representing Japan only, she is japanese. Haitian is just her ethnic background. Her father also speaks fluent japanese and has more in common with Japan than Haiti. Just like americans dont think they are Europeans but their heritage and origins are from europe.

It was a proud day for Japan and it's people.
