Red Pandas are more closely related to raccoons than to koalas, koalas look nothing like red pandas, red pandas are carnivorans, which are placental mammals, while koalas are diprotodonts, which are marsupials.
i think this guy meant to say that red pandas are in the order *Carnivora, not that red pandas are carnivores. Red pandas arent carnivores, most of their diet is bamboo leaves and shoots
Pandas are a polyphyletic group within the Caniformia suborder of carnivorans, the Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) and the Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) are the only two exclusively herbivorous carnivorans, their main food source is bamboo, fruits, and leaves, filling a similar ecological niche that African primates like gorillas and guenons occupy, pandas are native to Eastern Asia, the Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) and Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) are the only extant members of the families Ailuropodidae (Greater Pandas) and Ailuridae (Lesser Pandas) respectively, despite a few similarities like their common name, diet, and range, the two families are not closely related, the former is classified within the superfamily Ursoidea, which more closely relates greater pandas (family Ailuropodidae) to bears (family Ursidae), while the latter is classified within another superfamily known as Procyonoidea, which more closely relates lesser pandas (family Ailuridae) to raccoons, ringtails, cacomistles, coatis, olingos, olinguitos, kinkajous, skunks, and stink badgers (families Procyonidae, Nasuidae, and Mephitidae), in fact, the closest living relatives of the red panda are the coatis, olingos, olinguito, and kinkajou of the family Nasuidae, Ursoidea is a superfamily of caniform carnivorans belonging to the infraorder Cynopsia (meaning "dog-shaped faced ones" in latin), which groups bears and greater pandas with dogs and pinnipeds, while Procyonoidea is a superfamily of caniform carnivorans within the infraorder Galopsia (meaning "weasel-shaped faced ones" in latin), which groups procyonoids with the musteloids, Procyonoidea encompasses four extant families, Mephitidae (Skunks and Stink Badgers), Procyonidae (Raccoons, Ringtail, and Cacomistle), Ailuridae (Red Panda and Fossil Relatives), and Nasuidae (Coatis, Olingos, Olinguito, and Kinkajou), while the other superfamily within the infraorder Galopsia being Musteloidea also encompasses four families, being Melidae (Badgers), Mustelidae (Weasels, Ferrets, Minks, and Fossil Relatives), Lutridae (Otters), and Ictonychidae (Zorillas, Muishund, Shulang, Huro, Grisons, Wolverine, Tayra, Martens, and Fisher), while both superfamilies are classified within the same infraorder (Galopsia), the two superfamilies are not that closely related, which is why the infraorder Galopsia is further split into two parvorders, Mesopalmata for the superfamily Procyonoidea and fossil taxa more closely related to procyonoids than to musteloids and Parapalmata for the superfamily Musteloidea and fossil taxa more closely related to musteloids than to procyonoids, similarly, the infraorder Cynopsia is also further split into two parvorders, Eufissipedia (meaning "truly split-footed ones" in latin) for the superfamilies Canoidea (contains 1 family: Canidae (Dogs)) and Ursoidea (contains 2 families: Ursidae (Bears) and Ailuropodidae (Giant Panda and Fossil Relatives)) and Pinnipedia (meaning "merged-footed ones" in latin) for the superfamilies Phocoidea (contains 2 families: Phocidae (Seals) and Cystophoridae (Hooded Seal and Elephant Seals)) and Otarioidea (contains 2 families: Otariidae (Sea Lions and Fur Seals) and Odobenidae (Walrus and Fossil Relatives)).
They are closely related to raccoons, both are members of the superfamily Procyonoidea, which also groups them with the ringtail, cacomistle, coatis, olingos, olinguito, kinkajou, skunks, and stink badgers, the superfamily Procyonoidea is split into four extant families, Mephitidae (Skunks and Stink Badgers), Procyonidae (Raccoons, Ringtail, and Cacomistle), Ailuridae (Red Panda), and Nasuidae (Coatis, Olingos, Olinguito, and Kinkajou).
Hi! How are you? The rainy season in Korea/Seoul stopped for a while yesterday and today, and there was a heat wave all day. However, there is a weather forecast that the rainy season will start again tomorrow. I wish you good health and good things for the rest of the week. Thank you very much.
From what I have learned, the terms of carnivore, herbivore and omnivore refer to what a creature mostly eats but can be confusing due to the stereotype of absolutes... an omnivore eats anything but a carnivore that eats vegetation like bears or red pandas are still a carnivores... it doesn't become a sorta carnivore... where as a deer that eats a bird is still a herbivore, not a sorta herbivore. But it really depends on the resources available in the environment, every creature is technically omnivorous if we take it at fact that they can eat both meat and vegetation, but they can't permanently live on something there body finds hard to digest, however if over a long period of time they were forced to be on such a diet surely they would adapt to mostly eat that source of food. On the other hand there are probably a lot of specialised species that fit the absolutes perfectly.
To the people who hunt red pandas... I hope you get eaten alive by a hippo, while getting crushed by an anaconda, while getting stung by hornets, while getting shit on by a bird. Hunting for anything other than survival (food, safety, conservation) is abhorrent IMO.
Members of the order Carnivora are actually called carnivorans not carnivores, this was done to avoid confusion, carnivorans are identified by their elongated canine teeth, modified cheek teeth known as carnassials, anal glands, and the ability to use their sense of smell for tracking, not all carnivorans eat meat, there are two main groups of carnivorans, Caniformia (Dog-Like Carnivorans) and Feliformia (Cat-Like Carnivorans).
Do you know where do they really belong? They are state animal of Sikkim, Indian state in Himalaya. They are found in that state only if not mistaken and are extremely endangered. Please elaborate on your studies
No doubt that red pandas are one of my most favorite animals in the world. They are exactly why I love watching Aggretsuko.
They look like a mix of raccoons and koalas! Very cute ❤
Red Pandas are more closely related to raccoons than to koalas, koalas look nothing like red pandas, red pandas are carnivorans, which are placental mammals, while koalas are diprotodonts, which are marsupials.
@@indyreno2933 - He was only saying what they LOOK like, Mr. Wiki.

i think this guy meant to say that red pandas are in the order *Carnivora, not that red pandas are carnivores. Red pandas arent carnivores, most of their diet is bamboo leaves and shoots
Plus: Occasionally, red pandas “snack on fruit, insects, bird eggs and small lizards, too.” 😋
I can say red pandas are omnivore, but their diet is mostly bamboo and fruits, no wonder is called as red panda.

THANKS FOR THE GREAT CONTENT 👍 👌 😀
Things cannot be very unique, nor very, very unique. Uniqueness is a singular quality that takes no modifiers.
They kinda look like they might be related to Raccoons, cute n cuddley!🐈💝

You forgot the part where they also get eaten by maggots, a Scorpion stinging on their face and bullet ants biting their toes and fingers.
BBC Earth yo Kevin Gabo amo los pandas rojos
I ❤ red pandas
Des de hace muchos siglos los dioses de china tuvieron una conexión mística con los pandas rojos
Really? Can you tell me more
So are they or are they not bears?! Such a confusing first answer lol
Red pandas are not bears.
What you're talking about are giant pandas which in fact are not pandas.
The only real pandas are red pandas.
Marsupial more like
Very strange to call them carnivores. Both the giant panda and the red panda eat bamboo as their primary source of food.

Do they sing metal at Karaoke?
Never dawned on me to have one as a pet. I'll pass

Yes but also in China, Nepal and Butan. Mostly the Eastern Himalayan regions.
