- Sam swapped the drivetrain from a P85D Tesla into an Audi S5, while keeping the Quattro drive train. This is a pretty incredible feat. Check out our interview where he covers a lot of the details and challenges of swapping the Tesla EV motor and batteries into his Audi.

This crazy to me. By far the most impressive part of this to me is just mating the motor ECU to the Audi ECU. The amount of expertise it must have required to complete that. Maybe I'm overestimating the feat but wow that sounds tedious
That sounds complex but it isn't that hard as it sounds. As they have mentioned you need to record can bus messages. They you need to examine that and learn how two different can buses are communicating with modules. In the next step you need to make custom micro computer which would translate messages from one can bus system to another.

honestly, its emerging everywhere! and even as BMW guy, this car is 100x cooler than a traditional Tesla in my opinion :D
The only Problem for Tesla with this, is it still outsources its batteries from Panasonic and the up-charge from Panasonic to Tesla is already a huge problem for them. (Especially considering that 80% of their parts are created in house and the battery is one of the most single expensive components.)

This is a major technical achievement, especially emulating the Tesla software. There were two facts that were left out that viewers want to know - the max range and zero to sixty time.
Sam told me that the range is about 250 miles depending in how you drive it and 0-60 is 3.9

Quattro is just awell engineered differential system. No different from doing an EV conversion directly on a standard differential. Except it's actually easier because he got to reuse the engine bay instead of having to weld the motor to the frame.

As a software developer that was probably the hardest part along with the custom parts. Monitoring the network traffic and then getting it to translate into Audi 'language' is damn impressive. I'll bet if packaged into a SDK it's probably worth more than the car. Unfortunately, Tesla will probably come down hard with lawsuits afterwards. For those wanting to replicate or do their own, don't underestimate the software skills required to do this project.

Dude, you gotta post how you figured out the CAN bus stuff and the Dash Screen that you are using. This will be great for those that want to toss out their engines for Tesla power!! I know Damien Maguire uses a lot of Tesla parts and such but again it would be great for us that don't have time to diagnose the CAN messages and have something that is close to Plug-n-Play. Great job and look forward to any updates and improvements!! Put Tesla in a Truck!!
Andy Morris look into mrs electronics in Dayton Ohio. They have cambus translators that people use to do swaps with mostly ls swaps but a lot of ev stuff now to. To translate one manufacturers can to another system. They also can do software for the programming if the budget is there

He's far from the only one who does EV conversions. He does want to build a business with this, he has said that before on RIch Rebuilds. He took awfully long to complete this project though, so there's probably better choices to get your car converted.
Plants need C02, it is a natural gas. Co2 increases when the sun activity increases. Dont be a sheep and believe all the climate bullshit. Its was all put into play to move money out from the rich countries around the world so we can eventually be controlled by one world government.

I had a reliable A4 and a less reliable A6, but the Fairfield CT dealership would reliably change parts that were working fine. I once did the rear brakes myself and the next visit they call me to tell they have less than 500 miles life left without even looking at the car.

You obviously didn’t listen ......it was a high mileage vehicle ........the 4.2L is extremely reliable for which it reached HIGH miles ......please do some studying before you go off and embarrass yourself some more.
Vincec og always depends on the model.... an RS3 stands no chance against a C250 d in terms of reliability. German cars in general are no longer as reliable as they used to be 20 years ago.
