My RS 250, which i'm guessing has less than this is running 320ish bhp with nothing but a decent rolling road setup, an ITG foam panel filter and a 3 inch decat exhaust paired with a stainless steel manifold(unsure of the brand as it was on the car when i got it). Above that sort of level you're looking at wanting to improve cooling, and possibly hybrid or larger replacement turbo set-ups. 320 feels like enough for me anyway, the car is faster than I am.

Ragnar Lodbrok - as it says above, the rider is on the Yamaha team & races for them in cup series races so I’d say he hitting it pretty damn fast. I’m guessing he’s hitting at least 250-275 k’s in the straights & as to car vs motorcycle cornering, it all depends on the individual pilots.

Ragnar Lodbrok - excuses, excuses .... as I said, it depends on the pilot, which is why I gave you the example. You’d NEVER stand a chance keeping up with Marc Marquez, in fact if you even tried, they would be cleaning you up off of the track after you high sided.
Very good rider, very good driver. Car driver didn't take up the challenge at first, then started pushing hard and almost overcooked one corner. Rider realised car was serious so responded by getting closer to 'max effort' towards the end. Both seriously talented. Also very good track etiquette by those overtaken. Great to watch!

The Ring is NOT the place to have a high speed crash. Kudos to both for being Zen... pushing hard but staying truly calm.

+Pascal Dopmeijer I had that in practice sessions at Daytona. I would crush him on the high speed sections, then he'd take my lunch money in the infield. Took me 3 laps to keep him back there. Was a blast though. My gearing was wrong, but no excuses. (I was on a 600, not a liter bike)
That motorcycle's lines were beautiful. Dude knows the track and his bike. Megane guy was good too though. Cool to see the difference between bikes and cars in the turns.

+future62 totally agree. At 0:35 I thought the biker missed the apex of the corner, but it was just longer than I thought and he ended up hitting the apex bang on. Great form and body position as well, proper leaning and even some knee dragging in there, very brave for a track like the ring that normally isn't so well maintained. He must be a regular.

Not really sure how he's able to control his bike that well, without those massive balls getting the way.
I advise you to look up the Isle of Man TT, bike on board laps, Michael Dunlop, John. McGuinness or Guy Martin. 200 mph superbikes on country roads.

ED kratos It's not as difficult..that bike in the video weights less than 500 lbs...it's very light and easy to throw around. The rider in the video knows the track very well and I'm not directing away from his skill which was very impressive, but responding to your comment, bikes aren't that hard to throw around in corners.
Richard Head I don't know what you're talking about because cornering well on a motorcycle is indeed difficult. Sure, you can ride on the street and take highway ramps with relative ease but track riding and/or racing is a different story.

The bike rider is Swiss from the mountainous south east canton 'Grisons' or Graubünden. He is very fluid and smooth, keeping the corners round, that's what makes him so fast. No overloading the tyres with abrupt manoeuvres. Pure delight to watch. His straight line acceleration is amazing too. Great video.

Keeping corners round makes bikes slow. Super bikes have to square off and late apex to use the power to the advantage. This guys using the same lines as a 400cc bike

@@Stoater1 well, it weighs 400lbs and makes 200hp and will beat a Bugatti vey Ron in the quarter mile. I take my race bike to circuit tracks about 2-3times a month. I know what I’m talking about. The thunder hill west car record is 1:20 held by a McLaren. I ran a 1:10 a month ago on a 600cc race bike.... people are clueless about the true capability of these machines. The truth is it take immense amounts of skill to be fast on a bike

@@babboon5764 Bikes have big disadvantages in corners and need to lower their speed much more than cars. On a straight the BMW would have blown him away in the sense you mean.

On top of that, the S1000RR is just pehenomenally fast on acceleration. Unless & until you get chance to ride one on a track or some very empty roads its hard to appreciate just *how* fast it does accelerate.

@MrCES22 Dangerous of you to think there is no speed limit. If its not a race, regular german road laws/rules apply. But there are no radars and thus no risk of getting a speeding ticket. Insurances usually exclude these parts of german roads for obvious reasons.

Man that guy on the bike was super impressive! Such clean lines. After driving cars for 6 years and riding bikes for just over a year I find riding much more fun yet harder than driving a car especially when i want to go fast. Riding a bike this fast requires a whole new level of skill.

Not talking about any psychology, it just takes quite a bit more talent and skill to get a bike to the 99% level. Years ago Road and Track/ Cycle World had a shoot out between a GSXR and Corvette. I don't reminder the details but the car was driven by pro driver and the bike ridden by a pro Superbike Circuit rider. The results were pretty close. After they were done all the writers for the mags tried their hand (they were all at least amateur racers). All of them turned lap times within a couple of seconds of the pro driver. None of them could come within a mile of the pro rider. But really no sense arguing with a guy who has no knowledge at all of what he's talking about.

Pushing a car thats fully caged with 5 points Helmet and neck brace on takes no balls, I say this as my car is fully caged with 5 points in it. Hop on a 1000CC super sport of any kinda, Even in full Race leathers like this bolk, And it takes BALLS to push the bike to the limit knowing 1 fuck up causes mega damage when going down at these speeds. Please stop talking, Im betting you dont even know how to knee down and counter steer in corners. Its actually funny reading the retarded comments you put LOL.
@Zac Ariah you have to brake and throttle perfectly. you have to trail brake (brake and throttle) at the same time around corners. you have to have perfect body position. you have to lean off the bike while still throttling and braking at 100+ mph. you have no traction control. you have no two points of contact verse four. you so much power that you have to make sure the front wheel doesnt come up and rear brake when it does. seems like a lot

For me, the most amazing thing is that a Megane can stay with (mostly) a very talented rider on a superbike rocket ship. Who knew!
I was also surprised and the megane driver seems to do it without big efforts. However it makes perfect sense because the biker only benefits from the power to weight ratio when accelerating. No matter how good the biker is, it is almost impossible to compensate the traction of additional weigt and four wheels in the bends. Just didn't expect to notice that difference so obviously. Another example why the two wheels should be separated from the four wheels during touristenfahrten. Big fun doesn't have to come with great risks. My opinion...
Average track rider. The others were just out for a Sunday dream living session. Put a biker with race experience on that machine and POOOOF ... + 20mph lap average. Off into the distance she goes! Put Rossi on and it's a trailblaze!

Great driving by both, very interesting to see the difference between the bike pulling away on the straight sections (1:59) and how much the car gains through the corners.
That guy probably isn't even at a quarter throttle. A more confident rider would've absolutely blown the car away.
Due to bikes low weights, they have far superior acceleration but a lower top speed due to engine size restrictions (frame not big enough for a large engine). Because a car has a much greater wheelbase, they can carry more speed through the corners due to increased friction with the road, and using the moment of the vehicle to increase reaction force thus friction on the outside tyres. Furthermore, since a car has a greater surface area to manipulate downforce, they also carry more speed through corners that way. The biggest factor, I already mentioned, is the wheelbase differences. Good observation!

well .. the video ends where the lap ends ;) .. during touristenfahrten you have to leave the track after every lap .. so you take the long straight for cooling down and not heat up the brakes for standing few minutes in the queue .. not healthy :)

Always difficult to judge from a video just how hard the cars are cornering but here we have a really nice visual representation of the effort involved. Very nice driving from both parties.
Why all the hate? The Megane has less than HALF the BHP/ton so it is quite respectable. Both are fast in their own respect. Of course the bike will pull away at any acceleration segments, and you see the Megane reeling in the bike at EVERY braking and cornering point.

+Charlie Danielson But it's just a Renault :) Yet it's still able to keep up and even catch the bike at curves. Bikes are not as fast at curves. Their advantage is a straight line. Also a car can hit the brakes a little bit later than a bike.
Now all you need is a racetrack that is just a tiny circle and boom! Car will win every time!

The bike rider was me, I was on a 1979 Raleigh Grifter with 3 twist grip gears. TBF I had 2 red bulls before pedalling onto the track so technically I was cheating!

the driver and rider both have skills !! I can get around a track fast but add in rough road conditions and slow riders and drivers and I would have been as slow as those two bikes that got passed ... all riders think they are fast on the street but when they get too a track they realize they never even came close to the capabilities of their bike then you see a rider like this and it amazes me... it takes lots of skill /trust and a monster set of ballz to go that fast on the ring

@@bishplis7226 epic fail man, ive seen plenty of Euro's with noob riding skills. YT is full of them from the US to Europe. We have more ppl and more roads so we have more beginners. As well as more tracks, 48 mainland states with some having up to 8 tracks in one state.

For all those idiots claiming how slow is the bike or inferior, it has never been a battle between bike and a car but between character, skill, balls and enjoyment. Take megane and drive like this guy and then take a bike and try to ride like the rider. Then tell me which one is easier to ride fast. You would probably shit yourself in the first corner ;) Bikes were always about balls, cars not so much. The skill and bravery to ride like this is crazy. It is almost like TT on the Isle of Man but on a closed track, not roadracing, but pretty close (all those bumps, almost zero runoff). Front wheel is lifting off on hills so I would say he's going fucking fast. Just the car is no slouch either. On bumpy track like this cars are also much faster in corners as you basically can't lean the bike too much cause at that speed your front would either lift off and you would run into barrier or it would wash out and you lowside it and run into barrier too :) Remember cars are 80% ride, 20% driver, bikes are the opposite.

Awesome. The cornering disadvantage of the bike and the acceleration disadvantage of the car made for an interesting run. Nice. Bet the bike was long gone on that long straight though.
It's a drive disadvantage of the rider, not the bike. People think that a car is 40% faster than a bike on a corner that's ignorance in it's purest form.
Bikes can carry even more speed than a normale sportscar or a street legals supercar in mid corner.

And the difference with a proper driver are enormous on a sportsbike.
Today a prof. Driver with a 600 supersport replica could definitely match the times of the 911 records.

Simply professional driver and manufacturers don't perform tests because there is no reason and it is very risky for the drivers.
The trackdays of amateurs should not even be considered for motorcycles. They suck in the 'common' circuits, you can only inage how much in the ring.
The title should be the other way around "Very Fast Car meets a BIKE"...

I know what I'll do - I'm going to get on my bike and ride balls-out on a track with no run-off areas and crowded with slow, amateur drivers. Nothing to go wrong there, then...

There is only ONE driver. The other is a rider, as one does not drive a motorbike, rather one rides it.
Excellent video being both a bike rider and a car driver having experienced the thrills of the Nurburg Ring this video really does capture the excitement. However I must admit the skill demonstrated by both in this video is exceptional and for a mere mortal like myself I found the nurburg ring quite terrifying at times particularly on Easter bank holiday - taking e wide line on the bike into a corner at 150k only to find a Porsche snuck up on the inside at the apex. Also to see very expensive sports cars and bikes being transported away as wrecks on low loaders was a little bit disconcerting but you only live once so you've got to enjoy it 🤔
I´m a sports bike lover. The biker is extremely fast. But de megane and the driver are fast too. You can see on the corners how fast the megane is.
