I was told that the people of Lake Attitlan are Mayans who migrated from this Mexican area. I was told that there was some type of disagreement. In Lake Attitlan the Mayans still have ceremonies and a special cave. I wonder why they migrated away but didn't keep the building part of their culture. Maybe you'll go back some time and ask them? :) If I could speak Spanish I could try.
