We can operate the B747. In fact an A380 can land at Chennai but we do not have the ground facilities such as a taxiway or ramp area to accommodate the A380
Actually Chennai airport has the runway which can handle the A380. The primary runway which is 25/07 but doesn’t have the taxiway nor any parking bay to accommodate the A380
The biggies are slowly stopping services at MAA 😢 can’t think of a time before Covid when Lufthansa would decrease their weekly services like they do now. In the future there maybe a time where we see an Air France or even a Cathay Pacific only when there’s bad weather at bengaluru.
AAI works for BLR not for MAA.. That's the reason..Royal Brunei airlines had discussion with AAI... Could you imagine what would be discussion between them.. Simple Brunei airlines: we want slot AAI: we have no slot please approach nearest BLR After sometimes Brunei Airlines announced direct flight to BLR... This is what happening...

Oh yes. It was diverted a few hours before that to Chennai from Benglauru due to bad weather there. It was initially bound for Benglauru from Amsterdam
Definitely worth visiting if you are planning to go to other places in the state down south. Though probably a couple of days should be enough to see around Chennai😀
