👍 Thanks for posting! I have an area on my birding routes where I go in the evenings to listen for nocturnal species. Two you didn't mention are Common and Lesser Nighthawks.

I love Goatsuckers! (I know, it’s called a Common Nighthawk, but c’mon…Goatsucker…it’s just such a crazy name!)

Another awesome video. I experienced hearing 2 Barred owl fledglings on the 4th of July in my backyard…which is 13 acres of woods. I was unsure of the call as it is unquestionably unique. It definitely made my 4th. They have hung around the last 4 nights.

Great Horned Owls are easily seen and heard in the Desert Southwest as vegetation is sparse and they regularly clamber over the rooftops of houses. There is one that perches on my chimney, and if I move slowly, I can stand and watch him when the moonlight is bright. Once when camping back East in West Virginia by a lake, we heard Barred Owls' calling all night long as they flew overhead.

We live in Cental Texas and have a Great Horned Owl that stays near our house. He can be easily seen hunting bugs under our security light. It is great to watch him hunting at night.

Most of my barred owls photos have been photographed between 11AM to 4PM. Their call help me find them last time in the early afternoon on July 3. BTW: When I try to tell them who cooks for me (most of time it is me), they tell me that they don't a give hoot.

We have a barred owl in our neighborhood. It almost sounds like someone faking an owl call!

@@BadgerlandBirding that's certainly possible, but then he's doing it at all hours of the night, plus during the eclipse in April! While I have your attention, I was camping in Michigan a couple weeks ago and heard a bird call that sounded like "who arrrre youuu" right around sunset. I assume it was some sort of owl, but I haven't been able to find it. Any ideas? It was like the classic bird call that movies always use to signify someone's out in the wilderness.
Edit: Turns out it was a loon!
