What a spectacular place they visited, California is a dream in landscapes, with a lot of fauna, especially a variety of colorful birds. Impressive how you travel your country
Wow I’m in central California at the same time as y’all! Just drove through Fresno and now we’re staying just outside of Sequoia. My first bird here was indeed a House Sparrow at SFO! Seen 20ish lifers in the past week. The Crescent Meadow at Sequoia was teeming with bird songs well into the hottest part of the afternoon, although the ferns made them hard to get eyes on. There we saw a Red-naped Sapsucker spotted by a non-birding friend, as well as a napping bear. At our airbnb we saw a California Quail family with at least a dozen chicks. Hoping to see a Stellar’s Jay before we leave!
You guys are so lucky to see that Mountain Quail that Bird is one of the toughest birds to get period . You guys had great views of that bird and great video of it , thank you for showing us this beautiful bird .
Great video. California is just so beautiful and the birding is fantastic. I've only been to Cali for one birding trip a few years ago and it was amazing. This video brought back memories.
in SoCal we have a lot of few exotic birds like; Northern Red Bishop, Yellow-crowned Bishop, Scaly breasted Munia, Pin tailed Whydah, Red Whiskered Bulbul, Swinhoe's white-eye and a couple of Wild Parrots to name a few.
It was so amusing to me seeing y'all scurry to see a Stellar's Jay b/c I'm up on Mt. Lemmon right now and there's tons around our cabin, haha. Also been hearing and occasionally seeing the Western Flycatcher but it's a sneaky lil dude. Also I think I have heard the Northern Pygmy Owl from the cabin deck at dusk before and tried in vain to find it but no luck.
Pygmy owls are very tough birds to find, but more than worth it when you finally do. The gray jays in my area do perfect pymgy owl calls, so you have to get eyes on it to be sure. Hope you two can manage it next time!
Great video enjoyed your other California videos and look forward to more. We have the most interesting topography in the world, from coastal redwoods to the Central Valley to the Big Sur coastline to the High Sierra to Death Valley and the Eastern Sierra. Also the biggest tree in the world - the Redwood- and the oldest tree in the world, the Ancient Bristlecone
We make videos about some specific places we go birding and then also videos about the full day that encompass some of the same things with new things added as well.
Great video look forward to more of your videos in California. I live in the San Joaquin Valley, which is greedy in the winter time because of the Pacific Flyway. but also spend time on the central coast and up in the Sierra. We have the most varied topography of any place in the world.
I live here in Sacramento, have been doing bird photography pretty hard core for 3 yrs, and I still haven't gotten Pygmy Owl, or Mountain Quail... But i will 😉👍 Great video guys 🙂
It should be California Jay if the NACC even cared about their own naming rules. It should have returned to that old name when it was split from the Western Scrub-Jay.

We’re very lucky to have the opportunities come up to do it

Got the White-headed Woodpecker on the last day of my trip to Yosemite!
I live in Washington state and often visit family in California. It’s fun to see you get some lifers I’ve seen before!

Beginners luck with them I think lol
That was beautiful! Congratulations on your lifers!
Thank you so much!

We’ll have to go check those out sometime!
I saw my only Steller's Jay at Lake Tahoe 2 years ago. Living in Minnesota, it was very cool.
It’s one of those species that I don’t think you appreciate as much if you see them often
Some awesome finds!
Thanks for watching!

I think we’re going to need a lot of luck!
Yay, first viewer I think! First like and first comment, for sure. Another great video.
You're the best!
Awesome video!!!
Glad you enjoyed it

It has a certain magic to it. Something about being there just felt different
Are you re-uploading old videos? I'm convinced I've seen this one before.

We have many we’ve already made and will be making one for each full day we were there!
Mountain Quail is not an easy bird! Congrats
We got so lucky on that one

Great video guys 🙂
You can do it!
Yay I'm here early!! :DDD
Love it!
Correct me if I’m wrong but did I hear a Western Wood-Pewee at 7:46 and 7:50? It sounded like a buzzy “BREeer”. I also heard it at 8:12 and 8:17.
What kind of binoculars and camera are you guys using?
Most of the bird videos were shot with a Panasonic lumix fz80
Green screened
Everything we do is green screen. We actually just record in a bedroom. Scenes with water are the hardest
Green screen! I knew it! Probably using stunt drivers and stunt men, too. Most of the birds are paper mache 😮
