@@kneckno8356 both of those are common practice in the US but illegal in many other countries. Tail docking is still common in many breeds, even in the UK where it is illegal. we would've gotten them to meet in a more neutral ground but Rusa hadn't been on a walk for weeks and was scared of cars etc, so thought our garden was the next best thing
@@thegoldenkobefamily It wouldn't matter much with the retriever but Dobermans are often territorial and may resent unknown dogs or people on their territory. Fortunately this dog wasn't, and has clearly been trained to socialize well with other dogs.
However, it's an error to hold the bigger dog by the collar. If you trust him, you don't need to do that. And by holding him this way, you are preventing the dogs from meeting properly by sniffing and going around each other. By putting them muzzle to muzzle and exerting traction on the bigger dog, you are actually creating a combat situation. If you want the meeting to go as well as possible, you must let each dog move freely, and don't worry about the bigger dog "coming on too strong". It's normal for the puppy to be a bit scared (or even a lot scared), but the puppy will soon realize that there's no need to be, whereas you are opening the possibility for agression by holding the other dog by the collar.
@@litcheerose this is a massive simplification of the initial meeting process and it is not good advice for every situation. In many scenarios I would agree with you, but introducing a small rescue dog in a non-neutral ground, with both owners present, makes the likelihood for a negative initial meeting much higher than situations where your advice is accurate. With really frightened rescue animals you need to cater to them much more than you would others. Ensuring personal space while they’re initially overwhelmed is super important to let the lil guy know that this is his friend. I’ve worked with a lot of animal shelters and no one I’ve ever worked with would recommend introducing an anxious rescue dog without holding the collar or leash of the non-rescue.

Hi, I don’t know you but God Bless you & your family. Sorry you’re experiencing such devastation with your family. A little brightness, goes a long way.❤
My parents’ house recently caught fire too. Due to the age of the house and the health issues that were exposed afterwards, we decided to tear down the house and rebuild. Everyone made it out safely, including the dog. Unfortunately, the dog was sick and we didn’t know it. The fire made her worse and she stopped eating and responding to us. We made the decision to put her down and then we started losing more of our possessions. Fortunately, we have all the family heirlooms, the needlepoints my aunts made, my grandfather’s handmade carvings, and all my grandmother’s handmade quilts. The cause of the fire was a lightning strike hitting the power pole in the backyard and the ensuing fireball hit the roof. My parents have secured housing for one year and the insurance paid for it. We appreciate your prayers. Thanks!! 😊 Rest in peace Cocoa!! 😭🥀
You two should definitely consider letting this be her forever home. It's so hard for rescues to adapt to an environment, and Rusa clearly took a liking to the two of you; and her big brother and sister, would be a shame to rehome her. This is the fastest I've ever seen a rescue pup take to a new environment.
I rescued a jack russell in 2004. He did not wag his little tail for a week !! Never seen anything like it. Then he never stopped wagging his tail. So cute . That little tail was up on the air wagging at 90 mph after that 😊 I miss my baby

I rescued my Charlie 14 years ago from a shelter and was told he had been abused and if given a chance would run away! It took a while to get him to trust me and a week before he was comfortable around others and knew he was safe. Once he realized no one was going to hit or kick him again, he ruled the house! He passed in his sleep at 14 years old on 1/18/24. I was miserable without my little buddy, even though no one could ever replace Charlie, I adopted Luca from the shelter on 2/14/24! I got my shelter pup a month ago. You do not know how much your example has helped me with building trust with my pup. I watch how you guys do it to know how to best integrate my new friend into her new home.
You are two lovely people. You already have two dogs who you clearly adore, and yet you still have room in your hearts for this lovely wee thing. You are both an inspiration.
My wife and I foster abused dogs, we've been doing it for a number of years. You guys handled the first interaction perfectly. Now it's all about giving her time to decompress, great job guys.
I don’t know how you can just foster a lovely puppy like Rusa without keeping her. She fits with your family so beautifully. Thank you for what you are doing for her. (I say keep her, keep her, keep her)❤
Fosters are the best people I know. I've seen them cry, heartbroken, when a foster leaves them. They do this time and time again, to save lives. If they kept them all, they couldn't continue to save lives.
Honestly having a foster family with two other chill understanding dogs is probably one of the best things for foster success. It really sets her up to be okay in another home that has dogs, and it can really help with her confidence having another of her kind showing signs that everything is okay. Keep up the good work with Rusa, and would love to see updates!
I disagree. Being fostered and bonding with new humans and siblings only to taken from that environment and forced somewhere new, is one of the most traumatic experiences for an already traumatized animal. The animal has already been abandoned once and are being abandoned again by who they just formed loving bonds with. The animal will be less likely to fully trust any situation in the future the more the animal exchanges hands. Especially if the next family decides having a animal in their home is too much and wants to get rid of them. One of the other comments came from someone who called themselves Alfie and stated this couple picked rusa up from their home. So rusa has already been passed from home to home several times... it's no wonder she is traumatized so much, she thinks just when someone loves her, she is taken away from that environment and put somewhere else. It's not heartwarming, it's sad.
@@Az_N.S.O.L. Thank you very much for your input. I completely understand where you are coming from, as I have volunteered with a lot of animals with abandonment issues. I will say I've mainly worked with cats, but I have had some dog experience as well. However, I think part of why fostering can be a good solution is to help teach some of the social skills so that they don't get abandoned again. If she gets used to other dogs, that means that more families with other animals know that she is safe around their current dogs. They can also attempt to help with training and if she had any behavioral issues. So while yes the shift from foster care to a new home will be difficult and sad, I think the pros outweigh the cons imo. But it's good to keep the abandonment trauma in mind with how to proceed, so thank you for your comment
I was impressed by how quickly Rusa figured out she was safe with each new creature. She was clearly using the humans as a safe place to go back to while exploring, and looked to them to see if they were nervous too. Kobe was perfectly behaved and put Rusa at ease quickly. This is a great example of how to introduce dogs to a new home!
What is "good humans"? A phantasy? I witnessed situations where people said the politically/zeitgeist wrong things and suddenly were the evil humans, i.e. helping the homeless human beings or dogs suddenly didn't count.
It is always so sad to see an animal really scared and makes you wonder what they have been through. Thank you for working with Rusa and showing her love and kindness and meeting your dogs too. It was so very heart warming that she was soon wagging her tail and coming to you for reassurance too.

I recently lost one of my dogs as well. You have my sympathies. My dog was a Shi-tzu and couldn't get enough attention. He absolutely loved people. What kind of dogs did you have if you don't mind me asking?
@@xSamWaynex a German shepherd/corgi mix and a pit/ corgi mix.
@@susanb6629 bless you babe xx they will be there with you in spirit 100 percent and that's not jut words. They would want you to smile and have apuppy in time xx 😘
Your two dogs are very kind. They sensed Rusa's uncertainty and showed behavior that reassured her. And she was ready and interested to meet other dogs. Dogs like people but they like other dogs too- they feel most comfortable being part of a pack. Credit and respect to Kobe and Moki! They each should get a biscuit, I think.
For sure being in a pack will help them feel more comfortable quicker!
Wherever she goes from here, I always say a "foster fail" is just a rehoming success.
Asher House. The guy in charge is a professional at Foster Fails, he has like fifty or more "fosters" that he couldn't let go.
@@RobertGuidry-f3f I love that channel too!
What a little cutie pie! Thank you for fosteriing Rusa and helping her to build confidence.
Beautiful story! Thank you for rescuing! ❤
Your kindness is so evident and heart warming
This is just what I needed today. In California, family members lost 4 homes in 1 fire yesterday. Dogs make everything better.
Oh no! I'm so sorry!! 😢 I took a minute to say a prayer for your family members 🙏 I pray that they have/receive God's peace that surpasses all understanding as they navigate through this very difficult time. Focus on the fact that nobody lost their lives...& that things can be replaced. Take care. Respectfully...🙏❤🙏
So sorry to hear about your loss.
Hi, I don’t know you but God Bless you & your family. Sorry you’re experiencing such devastation with your family. A little brightness, goes a long way.❤
So sorry for your family. May God help you in the name of Jesus.
Thanks!! 😊
Rest in peace Cocoa!! 😭🥀
You two should definitely consider letting this be her forever home. It's so hard for rescues to adapt to an environment, and Rusa clearly took a liking to the two of you; and her big brother and sister, would be a shame to rehome her. This is the fastest I've ever seen a rescue pup take to a new environment.
The Universe looks out for those who look out for those who can not help themselves. God bless you always.
I rescued a jack russell in 2004. He did not wag his little tail for a week !! Never seen anything like it. Then he never stopped wagging his tail. So cute . That little tail was up on the air wagging at 90 mph after that 😊 I miss my baby
May the Gods rain down blessings upon your home, you good people. Now that I can see again, I would LOVE to see more of Rusa's story! Such wonderfulness here.
For all the evil monsters roaming around ruining the lives of others, there are also kind, compassionate folks like you. Thank you so much for all that you do for your dogs. You two are a lovely couple xx
Well said! The world needs more like them.
I will never understand how anyone could abuse or abandon an animal!!
Thank you for rescuing Rusa and providing her the love and safety she deserves! 🙏🐾❤️
My neighbor lost his mini schnauzer and was just so lost and sad. He finally went to the shelter and there was another mini schnauzer who needed him! He’s a new man with that dog, he seems much happier and way more active himself!
Thank you for rescuing!
I’ve had my fur baby for 15 years. She’s still spry in her old age and I love her so much
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldglory awe, that’s amazing to hear! There are so many great dogs/cats at the shelter and it always makes me happy when a shelter animal gets a furever home!! ❤️🐾
@@AlaraTheFae I know how you feel! It was painful to lose Charlie who was a maltipoo and to now have my Luca who’s a terrier mix is just a blessing! 🙏❤️🐾
so good to see Rusa getting more confident, walking more upright and with a bounce in her step
God bless your rescue, and all rescue. Love this sweet video, and to see your sweet dogs interact w scared rescued pup. Blessings. ❤
you're dogs are so gentle with Rusa. So well behaved.
Oh I loved this . I hope you consider keeping this sweet pup. Thank you for taking care of her !
You are wonderful to save this precious puppy
So wonderful. Way to go, guys. Beautiful hearts.
She’s an absolute sweetheart. So good to know she’s in a loving home.
My wife and I foster abused dogs, we've been doing it for a number of years. You guys handled the first interaction perfectly. Now it's all about giving her time to decompress, great job guys.
God bless those who rescue animals. God's greatest gift to mankind.
I don’t know how you can just foster a lovely puppy like Rusa without keeping her. She fits with your family so beautifully. Thank you for what you are doing for her. (I say keep her, keep her, keep her)❤
I foster failed, and I regret it a little bit. Even though I love this dog so much, four is a lot and the pack dynamic is off now.
Fosters are the best people I know. I've seen them cry, heartbroken, when a foster leaves them. They do this time and time again, to save lives. If they kept them all, they couldn't continue to save lives.
All these encouraging words! Wonder how many of the over two thousand commenters foster?!❤😊
We hope so! And thank you
Thank you for saving Rusa and giving her the patience and care she needs. So glad there are good humans in the world like you both.
What is "good humans"? A phantasy? I witnessed situations where people said the politically/zeitgeist wrong things and suddenly were the evil humans, i.e. helping the homeless human beings or dogs suddenly didn't count.
I see people with GREAT Hearts ❤❤❤ here... Greetings from Poland Sebastian😊😊😊
Beautiful story. Beautiful people. You make me think that mankind CAN be kind.
This video warms my heart ❤ and is making me more certain about my wish to get a dog from the pound and give it a forever loving home
Heartwarming. There are so many poor dogs that are abandoned or in shelters that need to be loved and to be saved.
It is always so sad to see an animal really scared and makes you wonder what they have been through. Thank you for working with Rusa and showing her love and kindness and meeting your dogs too. It was so very heart warming that she was soon wagging her tail and coming to you for reassurance too.
You guys have such big hearts. You can tell the measure of any man (or woman!) by how they treat animals. That love and safety you made that pup feel is totally genuine. Heartwarming and adorable.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I cried a ridiculous amount of tears. But it was worth it. What a treasure of a puppy. God bless you both for being such loving pup-parents. Stay awesome.
So cute! Like a little permanent puppy.
Bless you for fostering
Trying to help where we can 🙏
Thank you for saving her. I hope all the 4 legged housemates live a happy life.
thank you!
You are a wonderful couple. Not only as to how you have raised Kobe and Moki and the love you give them, but now you are opening up your hearts and your home to fostering. Incredible!!!
Thank you, we just want to help wherever possible 🙏
You folks are real angels. I just "bumped into" your page here and I just love it. I am a 70 year old and not much impresses me,but you do ! When I look at how happy you are rescuing these dogs, I KNOW there is hope for humanity. God bless you and the work you do !
What a lovely video. Thank you for being so kind to dogs.
Thank you giving her a chance, loved watching your kindness towards dogs. Hope they live happy ever after and bring joy beyond for both of you.
What a stunning and caring family. Thank you. My Father was a Vet so we had so many tempoary "guests" throughout our childhood. No animal deserves fear.
Bless you hope she finds her forever home
Seeing the Doberman with a tail brought me such joy. Thank you for saving Rusa!
I think the US is primarily the one who tail docks and ear crops, UK does not.

How heartwarming, this tender little creature finds a forever home
Rusa looks as though she could be a Jack Russel and Corgie mix, but who knows for sure. She's a sweet girl, and your girls are beautiful foster sisters :-D
An absolutely, astonishingly darling video of love, caring and unconditional kindness everywhere around you. May all your prayers be answered 😊
Well done you guys. Can't wait to watch the rest of Rusa's journey with your family and both dogs together. They get along well.
Thank you, she got on so well with them 🙏
You hear of so many adoptive families returning the dog to the shelter because they didn’t fit in with the family or whatever lame excuse that really means we couldn’t be bothered trying. I hope you weed out those people and find her a lovely family that appreciates her.😊
You two are wonderful, empathetic people. 🥰
Ah, sweet dogs. What a lovely big garden, so ideal for those sweet dogs.
