I have a 2016 bronson that I modified into a mullet setup with a new fox 36 fork and 29 inch wheel. I love it, only complaint is it's a bit too short (2016 sizes were tiny). Really looking forward to the comparison because it's not that easy to find Santa Cruz bikes on test where I live.
That is the noisiest Santa Cruz bike I have ever heard, my 6 year old un-maintained Hightower is silent compared to that Bronson. 😅 Nice video and nice trails as well. ✌️🤠
I have a Santa Cruz 5010 and it was the same way. Noisy as hell for such an expensive bike. I added the STFU dampener and the bike is silent now. Hate having to buy stuff like that but I can’t stand a noisy bike.
My 23 Nomad made a ton of noise from the brake line where it is routed into the rear triangle. A few wraps of some electrical tape on both ports of entry shut her up right quick. I’d guess some of his noise is related, seems a common thing on these rigs
would be great to have another one of your technical vids discussing stem length, bar height, and bar width... i feel like narrower bars are gonna be even more on trend since all the new trail bikes are getting longer geo
Dang you just hear everything from that bike. One of the noisiest bikes anyone has ridden. WTF is going on with all the linkage and chain and suspension and whatever else is rattling and squeaking??? Edit: someone said "shopping cart". Yeah that's about right.
To quiet down the chain slap, try an Ochain and additional chainslap tape on the underside of the seatstay (something like pinched mastic tape or STFU tape). All the recent Santa Cruz bikes seem to suffer from pronounced chain slap. Those two changes have turned my 5010 and Bronson from shopping carts to reasonably quiet bikes. Ochain seems to make an especially noticeable noise difference on Santa Cruz bikes compared to other bikes I've put it on.
Noisy as hell - you sure it’s not that gx transmission mech making all that chain slap - im not convinced it’s the bike I’d guess it’s more the weight of the heavy gx mech causing it - I bet if you stuck a mechanical group on there the noise would all but disappear - but I’m guessing there’s no port for cables on this one
Enjoyed this one. You should check out my 2025 Ripley review also , great fun little bike ! What camera are you using there ? I also owned the 2015 Bronson as well as the 2020/2021 Megatowers. Would love to review the new Bronson sometime.
Had a park ranger come up to me in the parking lot last year. He asked me if I was there to ride anything "steep" and I told him I was there to ride Emma Mccrary Trail lol
dude you have to start the video with "wassup assholes " i expect this from you . hahah
100%
Classic Santa Cruz Bronson review. It’s a great bike that doesn’t do anything wrong
Love this colour 🔥
T-shirt game on point ! Sword baby !
Based as hell. One of the sickest bands ever
Brian riding with a The Sword shirt is such a gem!
Rincon lot legends haha! and the Xfusion story is classic! They really had a rough start there hope their products have improved!
lol at the xfusion oil facial
Damn I sooo miss those trails.
Secret trail?
@@jdmbeaner182world famous secrets, yeah
The Sword, yes dude!
Great Video. Santa Cruz makes dam good bikes. The VPP linkage descends the best. Especially as a mullet. An average climber though.

The major difference from the last version was supposedly on square edge hits the softened up the harshness of he old VPP ratios.

Yep. Mine are pretty silent.
I demoed a V5 Bronson and it was the quietest bike I've ever ridden. There's something going on with this one.
Cool video. What size are you running? I’ve got the new Hightower in xl it sure has a big wheelbase.
Hopefully you will create a film when you’ve ridden the bike dialled to you
Bike seems kinda noisy, is it just the chain slap or also something else? I just ordered a 2024 Nomad, so hyped on riding it this season.

@@Willy-ig7nwhey I just got one of those for my 5010! Need to get it on there.
Hi! What frame size did you ride?
Large
Haven’t ridden that second trail in two years. It’s thrashed 😢
What are those glasses? Looks good!

Really nice dictaphone on that go pro
Brian, how tall are you? Why don't you run the ape hanger 800-820s they were pushing for years?
Cause 760 is pro.
I’m 6’1”. Because I don’t like them. Makes it very hard to lean the bike and corner properly.
@@briancahal I agree. I'm 5'9" and run 740mm, for same reasons (to move around separately from bikey).
@@briancahal how do you find the right bar width? I have always kept the default 800 width bars because I'm scared I'd cut too much off.
@@eg-xf5ic there's usually markers on the bar or you just measure 5-10mm per side

My 5010 v4 is very quiet, except on harsh landings (fairly fast rebound so the chain gets kicked back quickly).

Perfect timing as I'm looking for a new whip this year! I'm curious where those trails are, assuming Santa Cruz?
wtf where's my 'wassup assholes' poor form.

I wish people would talk about gens instead of yrs. He says 2016 you say 2015 I have no idea which gen bronson we are talking about
Don't know why it needs to be a secret any more, the state park could not care less. Its kind of silly at this point.

Screw wide bars. Screw anything less than DH casing and maxxgrip
