    Do you have a squeaky clutch pedal that makes noise every time you change gear? Have you ever wanted to be a contortionist as well?
    Well today you can also make your dreams come true! By replacing the clutch master cylinder on your Alfa Romeo 147 GTA. Process is probably quite similar for 156, GT, GTV, 166 and a whole bunch of other cars.

    You can rotate the piston in the master cylinder 180 degrees and the squeaky noise will go away. Worked for me. Replacing the the whole thing would be better.

    Do you have a part number or link for the upgraded part?

    Is it okay to change both clutch cylinders at the same time and bleed them with pressure pump without pressing the clutch pedal?

      I don't see any problems with that, should be all good

    Hi, i would like to know where did you get the clutch master cylinder? Any website or place to find it?

      Try Alfashop, Alfaworkshop, EBSpares, they should have these parts

    Lovely gta bro, I have a question though. Is the process the same for a 147 twinspark? I’m trying to replace the master cylinder on my 1.6 ts and the engine layout is a bit different and can’t seem to locate the relevant parts in the engine bay. Master cylinder inside is the same though. Thank you!

      I haven't done this on a twinspark but the process should be almost the same, have a look at the firewall area there should be hoses poking out

      My alfa 147 2.0L the same thing, mine the clutch paddle just keeps dropping and i have to keep on bleeding air out for it to bounce back only to come 10kms far clutch paddle drops again, yet no leaks nowhere even gearbox sleaves are not leaking including the bleeder section i think my mass cylinder is sucking in air and seals has gone in it, i am from south africa🇿🇦 I'll have to fix mine now this coming weekend im awaiting new mass clutch cylinder🙂..then the lay out is the same as for the comment above "tompovey" you are correct the engine layout mine and yours looks the same and the working space is hectic small.
      As for the video its super awesome information given we need more.
      *and your 147 GTA looks super awesome❤️✊🏆
      ✊❤️🇿🇦Much love&respect from Alfa fans around the world to you brother.

    My clutch wont disengage fully, I noticed when I depress the clutch pedal the fluid in my resevouir lowers and when I release the pedal it raises again, does this mean my clutch master cylinder is bad?

      I'm not 100% sure sorry, it certainly would be the first place I would start. Both the slave and master cylinders get worn out over time and need refreshing anyway. The parts are cheap and the slave cylinder is pretty easy to change

    • @LueysGarage
      @LueysGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could also try and bleed the system from the slave cylinder to see if maybe its just air bubbles...change the slave first if that doesn't work and see if it helps

      @@LueysGarage I have this problem for about 2 months now, the car has a new flywheel, friction plate, new reinforced stock pressure plate, new slave cylinder inckudign the Throwout bearing, gearbox oil, gearbox mount. I have done 2000 miles with it without any problems until a friend of my drove my car and launched it a bit to rough from a standstill, he wanted to quick shift to 2nd but the gearbox refused. So after that I went to a different gearbox, swapped gear mechanism, adjusted the shifter it self, thinner gearbox oil, new dot4 I clouding flushing all calipers and bleeding many times the slave with pressure, gravity bleeding and also leaving the pedal pressed 3/4 overnight but still the issue persist.
      Clutch won't fully disengage, tested on a stand still in first gear with pedal fully depressed. slowly pressing the accelerator pedal. At about 6000rpm the car does move forward with still the clutch pedal fully depressed

      @@Grandpasaab Asked George and he says: arm between slave cylinder and clutch mechanism bent

      @LueysGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Grandpasaab could be the flywheel is too thick as well? Or maybe something has gotten stuck between flywheel and clutch? Flywheel distorted?

    Any tips to refit the hardline to master cylinder? I just can't seem to get the hardline attached to the new master cylinder! 🥲

    • @LueysGarage
      @LueysGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember having any issues putting the line in the new cylinder apart from having to use the old clip...perhaps check the connection visually before trying and see if there's corrosion? May have to give it a clean or something
