If you want to play a game about ants or termites, play Empires of the Undergrowth. It's primarily an ant game but you can play as termites too, it's really fun!
I must say that this was one of my favorite videos done by Terra Mater. I truly appreciate the time and effort necessary from your videographers to collect this footage and your writers for compiling the narrative needed for this short, ~6 minute video. As a teacher, this is something I want to find the time to share with my students. As a parent of an infant, this is something I want to save so that I can share with my daughter when she's old enough for it to be salient.
Termites use a morse-code alarm system. Once a soldier encounters an attack, they bash their heads agains the ground in a pattern wich gets replicated by nearby soldiers. this way the entire hive quickly knows whats going on. they also build labyrinths to stall attackers. They have also been observed to mass soldiers in large groups before attacking. In the end you can compare an ant army like a giant mass of soldiers with runners spreading the intel-pheromones across the army. it takes time and is often chaotic with many conflicting pheromones each individual ant has to decide on wich pheromone to follow and prioritise. In contrast to that the termite armies are like a military where every soldier has a radio and can make decisions based on quantity of the chatter to determine target priority. Its a little bit like an online pvp game service: servers = active battles. the termite players can hear their teams player counts and threat urgency based on the morse code and can join the servers that need more people. The ants can only see the open servers and have to guess wich one is full or empty until friends come and tell them where the action is. Overall the Termites lack the numbers of the ants, but their coordination is superior. But in the end both sides can only guess on their enemies numbers. So it often happens that entire ant armies run guns blazing into a termite colony 10 times their size with a predictable outcome, as seen in this video.
This termite colony species may be Macrotermes bellicosus aka african termites, known to be the largest currently known termite in the world and that includes its queen and soldiers if i remember correctly there should be minor soldiers and major soldiers you can tell which is which by their jaws and the color of their head. But i didnt know Marauder ants also eat african termites what I've known so far is the Driver ants, Megaponera. A, Crematogaster. S and Paltothyreus. T that's all I've known for now.
Beneath ant hills they can build underground tunnel networks over 6ft deep with specialized rooms and complex foraging tunnels miles across under the soil.
@@gohsk1512 same with termites, but it depends on which species the termites and ands are,and the region they are at. usually ants will do better if u are talking about the wood eater termites, but the fungus growing and stuff, not really, they are alot bigger.
Termites are strong in numbers, strength, and they are great builders. Ants can't defeat the whole army, but they can take the queen and king and doom the termite kingdom.
Hello @algae_wafer, thank you for your comment. At 3:45, we show ants raiding for grubs, meaning they are seeking out larvae of other insects as a food source. Sometimes, ants can raid other insect colonies, including termite mounds, to gather these larvae. This is part of the intense survival dynamics in the insect world where resources are limited and competition is fierce. Ants and termites have been known to have conflicts and rivalries too. We hope this clears up your confusion 😊
This rivalry (ant vs termite) is more ancient than Roman empire infact many more empires.. also this battle can be found in every backyard, also termites are literal engineers in soil, sometimes build too much into our homes..😂😂

true that!
Great video, really fascinating interaction. Insects are amazing little creatures!
They're 100% underestimated!
Truly wild to know! Incredible video🐜👍
Thanks for watching it!
Life of a termite colony is basically akin to Medieval/Dark Ages.
Except Older, Authentic and way more Fun to study.
Interesting way to put it!
1% ants and 99% termites
Someone needs to make a game "Ants vs Termites".
Theres a game called empires of the undergrowth, check it out!
if you want a game of it, make it, but if its too hard, listen
new saying: any hard creation made by man, he can remake it easy
Empires of the undergrowth, metebale ant update is coming with termites and driver ants. One of the best single player RTS games
Formicide, but its a long dead game, its not exactly termites vs ants but there is a termite class, the rest being ants.
There is one, "empire of the ants"
I love these videos, I always learn something new and they're fun to watch.
Hi Steve! That's so nice, it motivates us to keep on doing more videos like this! ❤️
I was rewatching Antz for the millionth time and decided to see why ants and termites don't like each other
😂

This is my favorite clip. It's like the ant is putting the termite in a ear naked choke.
Aww I didn’t need to see that poor baby like that.

Superb. Aptly filmed.

Ants and termite were busy waging war with each other until furry beast with long tongue appear and slurped all of them

3:43 Wait...Termites don't have grubs do they? They are hemimetabolism!!
How can you mention termite vs ant battles and not mention the giant glue gun on the termite's forehead?
Why are anteaters called anteaters if they eat termites????
Termites are strong in numbers, strength, and they are great builders. Ants can't defeat the whole army, but they can take the queen and king and doom the termite kingdom.
