As a biologist, I think it's astonishing how complex interactions and the colonization of "simple" life forms is. Bacteria use our gut as their habitat and make molecules which serve as "signals" to our brain. Over the last years, it has been shown several times how important these molecules are as they can provoke/protect against certain diseases, such as Alzheimer's Disease or Multiple Sclerosis (I made a video about this a while ago). We can still learn a lot about other species!
As an another biologist from BR, I have a huge love with plant animal interactions since i studied this in the plant-animal interaction class. Its astonishing how the evolution molded these relations from the nature its self of the ants and their enormous relations with so much of the enviroment, but also the relation and importance of the bacteria on our mouth and skin!

I’m just thinking about the fact that these ants have no clue about us and their whole world is their kingdom and a little further out. We could be just as ignorant of a much more powerful and evolved species just a bit further out of our scope
Yeah, that's a fun analogy but there is one huge difference, we're conscience and they aren't. We have the capacity to test and understand outside our immediate scope of influence and they don't. Now I'm not saying there isn't life out there that's likely far more advanced that us, just dispelling any myths around "gods" or anything else supernatural. See, the ants _could_ test to see if we exist and there would be evidence, unlike "gods" and other supernatural things for which there is absolutely none. Fun to think about though.
@@ross-carlson I agree, but on the other hand, we can not say what consciouness is. Therefore, we can not test for it. I may be the only conscious person in a world full of NPCs but I have no way of knowing, or every single cell, tissue, organ, organism could be conscious and we just can't comprehend it yet. Rather, we can not observe it, but how to observe a thing that we know nothing of?

The fact that _ants_ have mastered building outside of mounds and holes, tool use, and a primitive form of farming, all while having a sort of proto-language, is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever heard. I wish I could live a hundred million years just to see what they'll be like in the future (provided that we do something to stop climate change outside of ineffectual agreements)
Pronob Sarker it'd be cool to observe though, if we would be able to somehow, I would love to see the evolution of different ant species rising to be the dominant one on the planet

Hi there I'm an animator, just wanted to say, I recently finished working in an awful project that really drained me to the point in which I decided to take some time from the craft for a while, during this time, your videos have really helped me, just perceiving all the little details and seeing how much care and love is put into every single aspect has helped me remember what I loved about working in animated projects to begin with. I really can't thank you enough.

@@whiterice6663 lmao, paratrooper ants searching for new territories in your school?
Oh yes. Or we are just microbes on giant living things too large for us to comprehend.
@@ross-carlson ants are indeed conscious, just not at the same levels as we humans.
But I believe that our ability to comprehend that fact surely makes us special

that's what i was thinking. Imagine some kind of eldritch species being utterly fascinated by our species and how our societies are constructed.
I thought the same thing
J. Grimes if you hate to be that guy try not to be that guy.
What if climate change is what knocks us off the top and makes room for ants to become the new dominant species?
If they're not selectively pushed to get higher intelligence they'll just forever stay as ants, im sure they're perfect the way they are in a sense
Pronob Sarker it'd be cool to observe though, if we would be able to somehow, I would love to see the evolution of different ant species rising to be the dominant one on the planet
