You mention it almost killed Universal, but the lawsuit against Ride and Show almost killed R&S's CEO too. He is a friend of mine and I had a conversation with him a few years ago and he told me he wanted to continue the lawsuit, but he had a heart attack during the lawsuit and his family convinced him to settle and let it go for the good of his health. He's still alive and kicking at 88 and has lot of good Disney stories too.
Im sorry ur his friend. Should of asked him what hes done 4 God? 30 mill. What a freakin idiot. Id be embarrassed to say 88 is my friend. He needs his priorities correct. No one told him ur wasting time and money. What a friend u are. Ill pass
This attraction needs to come back. With all the modern tech it would be amazing! Make it an indoor attraction with a night setting and easily drainable for work.
These parks are falling. Grown men building fun parks. No one sees the problem? Grown men. Ummmmm Create something thats going to stay alive through many generations. This is a failure. Fun parks all 2gether are garbage. Long lines, boring rides, not that exciting anymore.
Jaws was my favorite ride! I hate Universal for getting rid of it. Not only did they close it- they closed it and replaced it with Harry Potter!! They already had a Harry Potter area and ride, why did they need 2???? 🖕Universal.
Correction: There was no NBC Universal in those days. Universal was part of MCA in the 1980s, Matsushita Electric (Panasonic) owned it from 90-95, then Seagram from 95-96, then it became Vivendi Universal before NBC acquired it. Everything you documented happened pre-NBC.
I remember going on all these rides back in 1993 and I have always been a huge JAWS fan and the ride was closed when we first got there but later in the day it was open and I was able to get on it\ I do not remember the ET ride much but I do remember JAWS and that other one was it called Earthquake. Thanks for sharing, I was sad when I heard they closed this ride for good in America. It was open in other countries later but I think they are all closed now.
Just some clarification. USF did not open with a production tram tour. There was NO TOUR. The concept was to separate the attractions from the Hollywood tour into individual rides. People instantly complained because it wasn't the same. So they took parking lot shuttles and trained Florida guides to point out all of the recreations and limited productions facilities. In 1990, I was one of the first bi-coastal tour guides from Hollywood who went out to add some spice to the lackluster tour. It was nothing like Hollywood, where we sit in the front next to the driver so that we can communicate and coordinate throughout the tour. In Florida, we were just standing on the back in the hot sun with a CB microphone. It was NO fun, no matter how much we tried to infuse jokes and historical information. People were always disappointed. My personal highlight was the separate Nickelodeon production tour, where we took people into viewing tubes built into the Nickelodeon stages where people could see an actual soundstage. Usually not in production, but nevertheless, there was slime and gak! I don't think either of these tours exists anymore.
I enjoyed your doc on the ride from my favorite movie. We need a jaws ride back in Florida. New tech could really enhance it to a better quality ride. I'll never wear another life jacket again!
really great video!! also, in zooders new vid you say “i was listening to the great gatsby soundtrack” if you’re talking about the musical, i love that soundtrack 😂 i really enjoy this style of editing!! you just gained a sub :)
I almost fell in the water in that ride it was old though but it didn’t had no bars to close up the boat and like my mom put me at the end of the seat and I was a kid
30 million plus maintenance. Why idiots? Why? U know how many lives u could save with 30 mill. Do u know how many starving people they could of saved in Florida. Seriously people wheres ur priorities

He should write those stories down if he hasn’t already, or record an oral history!

Disneyland opened in 55, not 71, in anaheim.
They meant to say Magic Kingdom in Florida opened in 1971…
