Sciatica pain relief in 5min

  • In this video, I share with you a series of exercises and tips for sciatica pain relief. Watch the video till the end and follow my tips for quicker recovery.
    The cause of sciatica:
    The vast majority of cases of sciatica have a spinal cause, such as disc herniation or rupture causing impingement of L5 or S1 nerve roots.
    Other common causes of sciatica can include spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and spondylolisthesis. There are also many non-spinal causes or sciatica, which are less common: These include piriformis syndrome, trauma, postoperative complications.
    Sciatica is mainly diagnosed by history taking and physical examination of the patient by a physical therapist.
    Sciatica sign and symptoms:
    - Moderate to severe pain in the lower back, buttock, and down their leg.
    - Numbness or weakness in their lower back, buttock, leg, or feet.
    - Pain that worsens with movement; and may cause loss of movement control.
    - Pins and needles” feeling in their legs, toes, or feet.
    Exercises for sciatica pain relief and sciatica nerve-tingling sensation:
    1- Sciatica nerve glide: This exercise can help you with the sciatica pain and nerve-tingling sensation. We presume you have the pain and tingling in your left leg.
    You’re going to lie down on your back and find a comfortable position. Bring up the left knee to your chest to the point that feels comfortable. Then you are going to extend the knee and bring your toe to dorsiflexion. Try to extend the knee to the point that feels comfortable and you start to feel the stretch. You may try this movement for 3 sets of 10 to 12 repetitions. This exercise will help you to reduced sciatica pain and nerve-tingling sensation.
    2- Figure 4 stretch: This exercise is beneficial for sciatica pain and will help you to relieve pain from the buttock and improve your hip mobility. We presume you have sciatica pain in your left leg. You’re going to lie down on your back and find a comfortable position. You are going to cross the left knee, and then bring the left knee to your chest, as far as you start to feel the stretch. Avoid letting your lower back come off the ground. And hold this stretch for 30 sec. You may try this stretch for 3 to 4 repetitions.
    If you don’t feel comfortable lying on your back, you can try the figure 4 stretch in the seated position and hold it for 30 sec for 3 to 4 repetitions.
    If you suffering from sciatica, figure 4 stretch can help you to relieve pain from your buttock and improve your hip mobility.
    3- L 4 L5 / L5 S1 Decompression exercise
    If you suffering from Sciatica pain, The decompression exercise is a passive stretch that can give you immediate sciatica pain relief. With the help of gravity, this exercise help to reduced the pressure between your spinal discs in your lower back.
    You will need 2 to 3 pillows for this passive stretch. Position the pillows between your hip bone and your belly button. And make sure to relax your arms and your feet, and find a comfortable position. Stay In this position for 45sec for 3 to 4 repetitions, and make sure to stay relax and focus on your breathing. The goal of this stretch is to let gravity creates a decompression between your spinal discs and improve your sciatica pain and discomfort.
    4- Sciatica seated nerve glide: This exercise can help you with Sciatica pain and improve the nerve-tingling sensation.
    In this exercise, you will need a small stool to raise your leg slightly. Or you may use a couple of books. Bring your foot to the dorsiflexion, keep your knee locked, and sit upright. In this position, you may feel the stretch already and you are going to gently side bend to the opposite side. You may repeat this exercise for 3 sets of 8 repetitions. Remember to avoid any jerky movement. Seated sciatica nerve glide is a low-impact movement and it helps you to reduce sciatica pain and improve sciatica nerve sensitivity.

    Had been struggling with this for the past few days, couldn’t sleep at night and couldn’t sit. Yesterday, I did these exercises around midnight and although disturbed, I did sleep for 6 hrs and am able to sit today. Maybe body healed itself but I think these stretches are sort of miraculous. Thanks a lot Bob. You videos are concise and to the point.

      I’m a day for 4 myself. I was riding my atv this past Sunday (aggressive trail riding) then I woke up Monday morning, I can barely walk. I can’t sleep, I’m in extreme discomfort.

    I was having severe pain from Sciatica for 3 months. After doing these exercises for 2 days, the pain was completely gone. I kept doing them every day for 2 weeks, and they fixed my problem. I will go 4-5 months without pain. However, if it shows up one morning when I first get out of bed, I do my exercises and the pain will be gone for several months. Happy I found this video.

      @@kanchanmandavale6801 Consider buying your self an inversion swing. Gentle inversion, even for someone who does not exhibit symptoms is an excellent way to relieve pressure on the disc and nerve. Use ice daily or even 2 x day .... not directly on the skin. Do MeKenzie exercises. Good Luck. 35 years in the industry.

    The figure four stretch worked immediately.I have been suffering with it since mid January.Walking was bad,but sleeping became almost impossible at times.I subscribed,thanks for the pain relief.✌️👍

    I came across this video and I really liked the way you described the exercise. But out of the three tips, the top number 2 - that you should not sit for prolonged period of time and get up and take quick walk after 30-45 minutes.
    But I am an IT professional, although working from home, it is difficult sometimes to get up once I sit for like almost hours.
    And at the end of day, I almost cry for my pain from lower back till my knee and sometimes the pain doesn't let me sleep at night (I had my ACL + Miniscus surgery in December 2021).
    I will follow your exercise for few weeks hoping to get some nice results - if not quick. Thanks for your video 😊

    Wow Bob , I think divine intervention led me to your channel. I was doing the exercises with the position prone with several pillows and it was instant no pain, none no sciatic nothing.Thank you so much. My total knee replacement is in 9 days I can take NO pain med except tyleno!, which is sugar pills for me. Thank you!!!

    I watched so many videos about exercise that relieves sciatica pain but soo far yours is the only video that really helped me. Been crying since yesterday coz of pain but after doing your exercises the pain is 80 percent gone. Thank you sooo much!

    This really helped. With the right side nausea kicked in, but the stretch gets better with more exercise and gives relief.

    I’ve gained some weight due to life circumstance (that I’m working to get off) in the last year and I know my muscles are weaker. Because of it I have developed the worst case of sciatica that I’ve ever had! This video (and others you posted) have helped alleviate some of the pain while I work to get my strength back! First night of rolling and stretching and it has already made a noticeable difference. Thank you so much!

      How are you feeling now with sciatic pain and what did you do to strengthen your muscles? Did you take any kind of suppliments as well to help strengthen the muscles? I had the worst case of sciatica too, l could not walk for 9 weeks I had the most excruciating pain ever,in last year in April. I still have pain and weakness in my legs everyday but this I can manage, even thought I have it in both Thankyou in advance.;:

    I use to cry a lot because of this pain but by reading the comments I gathered some courage and going to start the exercises from today itself.Hope so it will work cause my pain is getting severe....

    After many years of back pain I was diagnosed with degenerative discs at L4 - L5 and L5 - S1. Recently the sciatica pain has been unbearable. I discovered this video a couple of days ago and tried the exercises more out of hope than expectation of any improvement. I am now virtually pain free after a couple of days. Thank you so much for uploading this video.

    Thanks. : ) i had the sciatic pain. Painful all the way dow to ankle, very painful both hips. Dr. tested reflex at ankle weaker than other. Dr. Ordered decompression. Therapist ignored the order. When I was laying prone therapist pushed down on my lower spine 3 times. It hurt. I sat up. (trust gone) He told me no restrictions and I could mow part of my lawn. Lowerback muscles both sides are a bit weak now and become sore with partial bending. Hip joints ok now. Have had shingles a few times prior and similar problem other side 2 yrs prior.

    I'm glad I found this. I have suffered for this since 2014 because of accident at work by then the pain gets worst then I found physical therapist and help me a lot. Then the pain gets back because sometimes I carried heavy things that I need to avoid too. Thank you to this video I've just did what you've said now and It make me feel better. ❤️

    Thank you so much Dr Bob. I suffered this pain for past 1 week plus. My movement worsening can't bend at all. To resistant the pain I always took tramadol seems I'm allergic to the PCM and other pain killers.. Your video really pretty helpful and it's getting better.       @@educatorsspotbysmritibhora9038 me to I just got this pain lower back stiffness ,numbness in my right and left arm on the back of the arm ,pain down my left foot all the way down to my heel for 4 days I had already couple sleepless nights , and I don’t take medication
      The worst part is the numbness on the back of my arms , I feel like they’re cold all the time cold water makes it even colder
      I’m not whining I’m just trying to relate with other people and the pain I’m going through now 🙏
      I hope this helps somebody I’ll be better soon

    Thanks for this video. Herniated 2 discs in my back like 13 years ago now on top of roofing for 13 years prior to official back injury, so my back pain is constant and isn't really my friend. Hope these methods help. Much appreciated

      Hey can you tell me at which parts were you facing the pain .. because I am also going through sever back pain actually lower back pain and firstly there was pain in my thigh region , it also got inflammated a bit and then the pain travelled to my hip region which badly affected my motion.. did u experienced the same ??

    This helped a lot, I had this pain for like 3 weeks from doing backyard renovations. It occured when I was carrying bags of concrete and used my leg muscles for carrying. And my whole left legs had a tingle sharp pain. This exercise really helped out

      Hi, this just started happening to me too, also on my left side. Prior to this I was getting excruciating leg cramps in the night. I have arthritis in both hips and knees. I just want to fix all of this. I'm 48 but look and feel young. I don't want to take any medicines, have surgeries or be under medical care. I feel OD sad that all of this is happening.

      Yes same here... Instant relief on that 1st exercise... I have a herniated disc... And I wonder how this particular exercise relaxes the pressed nerve... I imagined the disc prolapse needs to be corrected for it... Reading human anatomy now... Nevertheless I feel like I have found the exercise that works for me... So thank you for that

    Wow....I was planning to go to a quick care for my lower back pain today because I could barely walk. Every time I take a step, a sharp pain shoots from my lower back all the way to my foot but I figured to search on youtube for any relief. I bump into this video and followed the instruction. Its crazy how much improvement I have after following these exercises. It was painful at first but after few sets of repetition, it started to improve. Thank you for making and uploading this video.
